I've been really impressed with the way Queenzoner's have "been sharing the music" This also includes Bullwinkles bootleg tree. There is one problem though. not everyone has broadband / CD rewriters. As a result, a lot of fans are missing out. Recently i've struck a "deal" with one such Queenzoner "Lynn" I send her discs of all the concerts downloaded from QZ (e.g. Hammersmith, Knebworth, Hyde Park etc) She sends me blank CDs / postage costs. It costs me nothing to send her the discs (apart from the time spend copying the discs), i also gain nothing from this (apart from her gratitude) Remember people are doing us all a big favour by donating their concerts - you could do the same for other people who are unnable to download the music. If you do want to "adopt" a Queenzoner - leave your name below, email and country (it would make it easier if the adoptee was from the same country as the adopter!) The person then would contact you to sort out the details. Remember this "adopt a queenzoner" is all about your good will / generiousity. Does this all make sense or is it deeply flawed? |
AwkbyName 26.07.2004 15:54 |
And when you 'adopt a queenzoner' you recieve a photograph and quarterly updates on his/her progress! seriously this has been great for me - thanks to my disc-buddy (I may just have to copyright that) I have been able to relive my youth and drown in Queen Lynn - the adoptee |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 16:03 |
there you have it! Seriously though, it does help you to share the music - rather than make you feel like you are simply leeching all the time. Give it ago! |
Gunpowder Gelatine 26.07.2004 16:10 |
That sounds like a good idea. I'd like to be adopted! :D |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 16:31 |
any one want to adopt My bijou? my only real concern is young queenzoner's (and we have plenty here) giving out their addresses. Their parents may not approve, and in the UK kids security on the net is a big issue. |
marcw10 26.07.2004 16:38 |
Have done something similar to this before. Usually help out on a download by download basis but wouldn't mind getting involved on a (semi) official basis. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 26.07.2004 16:44 |
Maybe instead of leaving addresses here, we could just leave the country and e-mail address, and people of like countries could e-mail their addresses instead. |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 16:51 |
i didn't mean leave addresses here on the board... that would be silly / pointless it just that in the UK kids are told never to reveal their address to strangers on the net - which is essentially what we all are to each other. sorry - I'm just being ultra cautious. This scheme should work providing we have enough Queenzoners willing to adopt and put some time in. Since we all benefit from the torrents here on QZ it doesn't take a great deal of effort to copy the discs and post them. |
Ogre 26.07.2004 17:17 |
Do we get to take our pick, or just have the sprog (adoptee) thats left over? Sign me up, I'm willing to help out if I can |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 17:32 |
Unfortunately I'm not organising this adoption scheme... unlike Bullwinkle et al, i dont have the organisational skills to do so. Ogre - would you be willing to post to the US - if so adopt My Bijou (and email her to confirm) if this causes problems (it might be better if My Bijou was adopted by someone from the US) wait for someone from the UK... hope this clears things up. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 26.07.2004 18:12 |
This idea's great, but I think your initial suggestion of like countries works the best. I don't mind waiting for someone from the US! :D |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 18:19 |
Roll up, roll up... we need someone from the US to adopt My Bijou. Think of all the times you've leeched ... sorry downloaded concerts from QZ. All you have to do is download concerts (which you'll do anyway!) copy them onto CD and post them. Easy isn't it! |
Gunpowder Gelatine 26.07.2004 18:20 |
It's OK if I'm not adopted quickly. I'm fine with waiting. Patience; doesn't it make you want to adopt me? :D |
Ogre 26.07.2004 18:51 |
As I said Agneepath, I am willing to help any QZ member, although I dont have much at this time. Like you said in you're first post, As long as it's time, not money, then i'm willing to help |
Ramses 26.07.2004 19:05 |
That sounds like a good idea. I'd like to get involved if possible. I will be back at school in about a month, so I'd like to wait until I'm back there to start mailing. I can be an adopter (oo...I'm making up words!) for somone (I'd like to stick to one at the moment). I'm in the US, so I'd also like to stick with US residents. My Bijou - Let me know if you want to set something up. I'd be happy to help you out. My university has broadband, so I should be able to download quickly. Edit - I am behind a firewall, though, at school. So I can't guarantee I'll be able to download the files, as I've never used the Queen HUB from behind a firewall, but I'm willing to at least discuss the possibility. |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 19:32 |
"My university has broadband, so I should be able to download quickly" Ramses - even with broadband it can take the best part of 24 hours to download a concert! i have broadband at school - but i wouldn't dream of downloading a large file from there.. Besides the IT systems manager would kill me, if i did. you sure you wouldn't get into trouble downloading at Uni? |
marcw10 26.07.2004 19:34 |
Well, I'm in UK so I'll take anyone in UK or even Europe at a push. |

Besides the IT systems manager would kill me, if i did. you sure you wouldn't get into trouble downloading at Uni?LOL...Don't worry...I've dl concerts on my cable modem and I know it takes 24 + hours. I consider that quick as opposed to several days to a week on a slower connection. I guess "quickly" isn't the best term, but I do realize the amount of time necessary. Regarding getting in trouble...um...why? I don't know much about the IT rules simply b/c I've never tried to dl stuff. Is it an issue of legality or university speed? Never thought about that...thank you for bringing it to my attention. |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 19:46 |
Its just I'm a teacher at a secondary school (11 - 18) in England. i have my own PC in my class room with broadband... but downloading for 20 + hours is something i couldn't possibly do. It would come to the attention of the IT systems manager because it would slow down the system for the entire school. Downloading throughout the night would also bring it to his attention.... |
Ramses 26.07.2004 19:49 |
Oh ok... I didn't know such activity could be monitored so closely. I'm generally knowelgeable when it comes to computers...networking stuff is the one area I'm dumb in. Thank you for your help. |
agneepath! 11994 26.07.2004 19:59 |
and also i'm supposed to be a "responsible adult" and i couldn't possibly justify downloading a Queen concert at what is, my place of work. although instead of teaching those 'orrible kids - i do surf QZ a lot! i recently got broadband at home (the torrents here at QZ, convinced me i had to have it!) |
agneepath! 11994 27.07.2004 12:36 |
Gunpowder Gelatine, any offers so far on your "adoption?" |
Nilton 28.07.2004 00:05 |
I'd like to be adopted, im from Lima Peru. thx |
high-flying-adored 04.08.2004 21:51 |
Ooh. Adopting. Fun. I don't think I've got a firewall ... at school (I hate US schools) I do, but at home, nope. :) Happy. |
Albyboy 29.08.2004 12:18 |
I'd like to re-bring this topic forward because, in my opinion, it was heavily under-rated. I will always be grateful to the people sharing their bootlegs with everyone of us (look elsewhere the prices of unofficial recordings and say thank you!!!) and I'm very happy I could join in this trade group and get in touch with such amazing people... I can adopt a queenzoner who doesn't own a broad band access... If someone is still interested, let me know. Albyboy |

To anyone who is able to adopt, do it, it won't make you rich or famous, but just think of all that love and good karma! As the offical adoptee, I have to say that this is a wonderful thing, I've had a bank holiday weekend full of Queen thanks to Agneepath! and of course all the wonderful people who put the shows up, thank you all! |

Would a weeding system be a alternative way to help out those with slow connections / little to trade etc... Weeds In order for this to work it's all about the system. What will happen is this: One person offers a show out and says how many burners/bunrerless bums's he/she is willing to pass on to (usually 2 burners / 1 bum). In the same post will contain a table Burners 1 2 BB's 1 Requests for the show are made on the thread and once that persons slots are taken (first come first served) he/she will post again, quoting the table above but adding the names of the burners/bb's Burners 1 Mr White 2 Mr Black (etc) BB's 1 Mrs Pink No further posts on the topic need happen, until the burners receive their shows and will again provide a table of how many burner/bb spots they are offering. Addresses etc should be dealt with off the thead via pte e-mail. Burners should only be contacted as and when they have received their shows and posted a table providing how many spots they are offering. If everyone waits their turn and is patient they will get their show. |
