Wow... what a funny, clever movie... er, rockumentary! I bought it yesterday and I just think it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. What does everyone think of "This Is Spinal Tap"?
Apparently when Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne/Black label society guitarist) first saw it, he genuinely thought it was a real documentary about a real English rock band. I Don't know if that is a testament to the films attention to detail or Mr Wylde's lifestyle.

I made my friend Chris watch it the other night - I think the performance of "Big Bottom" hooked him. ;^)
Brilliant laugh from start to finish. And heres a bit of useless info for ya - it was all based on British metal band Saxon. Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls) said so in an interview. "I even copied their bass players style of playing using open strings, so that I could point at the crowd"

Haha... I LOVE the Stonehenge part, and the part during the credits where Marty asks them what they'd be doing if they weren't in Spinal Tap and then we get to Nigel who is pretending to be a salesman. CLASSIC.
I liked it generally, although I found some of the humor to be too stupid to laugh at. The stonehenge bit was great, as were the cameos and the many Gumby references. I liked Guffman the best of all the Guest films.
And I have a grudge against Spinal Tap because Rolling "Full of Shit" Stone said it was the #1 Cult movie of all time. Come on. Even Spinal Tap fans say that Rocky Horror is #1.
I don't like ROcky Horror at all. However, Spinal Tap is my all-time favorite movie. And it is also probably the best DVD ever too. The extras themselves are worth the price alone!
No offense to all the Rocky Horrow fans, but compared to Spinal Tap it sucks.
People either 'love' or 'hate' Rocky Horrow, but Spinal Tap is a film that most people would find funny, especially if you're a hard rock or heavy metal fan.
Rocky Horror and Spinal Tap aren't even the same type of movie! Comparing the two is like comparing video games to carrots. They are complete opposites, and it is QUITE evident. ;)
heh.
Something similar to this...
Most amps go up to 10, roight? Yeah, well dis one goes up to eleven!
Why don't they just make 10 as loud as an 11?
...
Nah, nah, nah! Dis one goes up to 11!
I've never ever played that guitar! Don't touch it!
Can...can I look at it?
Nah, nah! Don't even look at it!
Funny stuff that. Especially the manager with the cricket bat.
I watched it with my girlfriend and she didn't think it was funny. We split up soon after that, I think that anyone who doesn't understand why that film is genius needs to get some comedy injections of some kind.
Hahaha with the amp and the guitar... those were classic, classic. Christopher Guest is by far my new favorite actor (however he cannot ever top Brad Pitt. EVER.) I'm just laughing thinking about it and I told everyone to go watch it and they're all giving me weird looks. But you know what? It's okay. Because Spinal Tap is the best movie ever. :D
I've seen bits and pieces of Best in Show and laughed so many times. A Mighty Wind is floating around the movie stations so I'll definitely have to catch it. Yay for Christopher Guest movies!!
Nigel Tufnel: Well, I suppose I could work in a shop of some kind or... or do um... freelance... selling of some sort of... um... product, you know...
Marty DiBergi: A salesman, you think you...
Nigel Tufnel: A salesman, like, mabye in a haberdasher, or maybe like a... um, a chapeau shop, or something... you know, like: "Would you... what size do you wear, sir?" and then you answer me.
Marty DiBergi: Uh... seven and a quarter.
Nigel Tufnel: "I think we have that...", you see, something like that I could do.
Marty DiBergi: Yeah... you think you'd be happy doing something like-...
Nigel Tufnel: "No! We're all out, do you wear black?", see, that sort of thing, I think I could probably muster up.
Marty DiBergi: Yeah, do you think you'd be happy doing that?
Nigel Tufnel: Well, I don't know, wh-wh-what are the hours?
Hahahaha
