This is how the band Dream Theater during their 3,5 hour concert in London this February honored their idols.
It is an audience recording, so the quality isn't great, but it is listenable. Their singer, James LaBrie, kinda struggeled to hit all the highs and some of you probably won't like his voice, but it is a very hard song to sing live, so I think he did a good job. Instrumentaly, it's flawless. No wonder, because Dream Theater is a band of 5 virtuoso musicians. They are an art/progressive rock band playing very beautiful, complex (sometimes very heavy) songs with very deep lyrics.
Enjoy
P.S.: They also once covered a part of Bohemian Rhapsody and released it on their EP. They are big Queen fans.
Dream Theater is a great band and Labrie's voice is just fine, sure it's not going to sound like Queen's Death on Two Legs but I doubt thats what they wanted
They're performance of DOTL is spot on musically, played with some real spite and heaviness, and although the vocals are subpar to the original, who wants to hear it sung the same way over and over
Cheers to Dream Theater and long live Prog rock
And I've been there!!!!
That was absolutely awesome...! One of my fav bands playing one of my fav songs of my absolutely fav band... If I can't see Queen live, that's probably the best I could ever wish for...:)
