I'm doing my best to fight it today, but I'm down.
Earlier I went to drop off some stuff at a disabled veterans thrift store. Not a lot of stuff, but some good stuff. A like-new printer that just needs a cartridge (it's cheaper to buy a new printer these days), some budget DVDs I picked up from the bargain bin and didn't end up liking, a few CDs including my Queen Hits I & II (the gold box) which is worn enough to not sell to a shop, but perfectly playable. I really wanted to keep the booklet (but didn't) though, since I'm keeping The Platinum Collection in mint condition and have to use gloves to look at the booklet (I'm weird).
Anyway, so I'm happy that I've given to charity. Then I had a nice lunch, watched some TV and returned a book to the library.
I call my mom and she gets all upset that I didn't try to sell stuff rather than giving it away. WTF? The family isn't rich, but we get by and I felt like giving today.
So now I'm practically in tears because I've argued with mom on my birthday. I mean, I was depressed anyway but this didn't help.
It's such a beautiful day here weather-wise.
Oh well, thanks for listening.
Go on then, seeing as it's your birthday:-
A redneck, a sheep, and a dog were survivors of a terrible shipwreck.
They found themselves stranded on a desert island. After being there a
while, they got into the habit of going to the beach every evening to
watch the sun set. One particular evening, the sky was a fiery
red with beautiful cirrus clouds, the breeze was warm and gentle; a
perfect night for romance.
As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the
redneck. Soon, he leaned over to the sheep and put his arm around it.
But the dog got jealous, growling fiercely until the redneck took his
arm from around the sheep. After that, the three of them continued to
enjoy the sunsets together, but there was no more cuddling.
A few weeks passed by and, lo and behold, there was another shipwreck.
The only survivor was a beautiful young woman, the most beautiful woman
the redneck had ever seen. She was in a pretty bad way when they
rescued her, and they slowly nursed her back to health. When the young
maiden was well enough, they introduced her to their evening beach
ritual. It was another beautiful evening: red sky, cirrus clouds, a
warm and gentle breeze; perfect for a night of romance.
Pretty soon, the redneck started to get "those feelings" again. He
fought them as long as he could, but he finally gave in and leaned over
to the young woman, cautiously, and whispered in her ear...
"Would you mind taking the dog for a walk?"
I'm so sorry deaconfan! I hope you feel better! A lot of my friends have been depressed lately. If you were here I would endevour to make you happy! ;-)
Thanks for all your warm wishes :)
And thanks for the (old) joke Flashman ;)
Just to clarify, the thrift store is to benefit disabled veterans. It's not a depressing place.. just a store. They even have some good old Queen vinyl albums sometimes for 25 cents. hehe
I talked to mom again. She apologized and said she's just having a bad day. She's bringing me a cheesecake later. :)
Hope you cheer up, darling. You know, what you did was a good thing to do. Especially when it was your birthday already, it's a normal day to self senter. Happy Birthday, btw. Feel good about yourself, OK? You did something good, which will help someone else. Don't you feel the inner satisfaction already? I'm proud of you. ;-) *hugs*
Sorry to hear about your bad day Deacon Fan. Don't worry though, Just when you think life has finished with you, You may find a glimmer of hope. I think it's good what you did (as if that actually matters)! It was wrong of your mother to chastise you for giving away your stuff. I say, Thumbs up to you! Everyone should be as selfless. Greed is one of the worst diseases people can have. Oh! And, Happy Birthday as well.
Hey Deacon Fan
*HUGE HUGS*
I too get depressed when either my birthday comes up or it is on the day of my birthday. Its the sentimentality of it all I guess.
Im glad that your mum patched things up :)How was that cheesecake? :)
Happy Bidet (Bday :P) to you Deacon Fan.
Wish ya great health, good vibes, and best wishes :)
Ok I 'm an ignorant american

Thanks again everyone. I'm feeling much better today. The cheesecake was wonderful. I wish I'd eaten it in moderation instead of in two sittings, but that's life ;)
I should drink more. I think I had some sort of Jack Daniels red cooler stuff back in '99. Country coolers, that's what it was called. Too much for me. I'm more of the watered down, fruity wine cooler type ;)
And I can't take the smell or taste of beer. It's even gross to look at, in those plastic cups like Freddie kept on the piano sometimes. They look like giant urine samples to me.
