We Queen fans are used to rumours and speculations concerning the band Queen.
As the years have went by, I've learnt what the word patience means.
But now I think there's something happening... (really!!)
- Queen has always been linked with well known singers considering the lead singer role in Queen, but I think they will choose one "lesser" known :
- Jeff Scott Soto.
I have no proof of this whatsoever, just a feeling. During the last 3 or 4 years I've heard his name connected to Queen several times...
(I just ordered the Queen fan club show he did, which is released on DVD, is it any good ?)
What do you think of Jeff Scott Soto as a singer, frontman et.ct... ?
i think he's not so good as a singer, maybe only for hard rock songs like tie your mother down and stone cold crazy. But not for the slower songs. I don't know about a frontman, cause i never saw him
JSS did a great job at Breakthru 2002! He sings "Save Me" on the Tie Your Mix Down compilation and did just fine with that ballad. I'd be happy to hear/see him sing lead on more than a few Queen songs. He's got a background to maybe write some new ones w/Brian and Roger...
JSS is a legend! I saw every UK show this year and he was brilliant every time. He can sing just about anything (heavy metal, ballads, disco, funk, you name it!) and as a frontman he's got everything going for him! His 'Prism' album is a good place to start, but if you want to hear heavier stuff check out his stuff with Talisman (or even Malmsteen).
Too bad Brian & Roger only want to work with
A) Talentless people (5ive etc)
B) People who can't sing the Queen songs (John Farnham, Anastacia etc)
C) People who can't act and can't sing and therefore play in a musical
The way Brian May and Roger Taylor seemed to be working right now is charities and one-offs, and that is perfectly fine. It takes a lot of time and energy to tour and they are not young anymore.
I can see them possibly doing a one-off appearance now and then but not a full tour with JSS. It would be up to them to do so and of course it would sell completely out. Queen touring the way they used to, nope, sorry, cannnot see that ever happening again.
Move on life is too short to live in the past.
Kriz ;o)
I see your point Krissy...
Still I feel that Queen are about to record or release something new quite soon.
The Mandela stuff is just for starters...
I think it's time they do something properly, and I feel they think the same as well. They have done so many one off things the last years so I think it's time to record something new as Queen. Brian said he wasnt happy with the way the Mandela stuff sounded soundwise, so he is still very into what Queen should sound like. The point is that I think that both Brian and Roger wants to release something new that can "hold water" and that sounds fantastic...
As for touring. Maybe they will, but not as hectic as before. Maybe a gig or two in the week....
Let's say :
Queen (feat Jeff Scott Soto) European Tour 05
London 10 June
Manchester 16 June
Berlin 22 June
Munchen 26 June
Paris 30 June

Hehhe... this was fun :) Just a dream though...
I don't think this is completely far off, but maybe something smaller. I think they would have great fun, and of course they would have managed it !!!
