have you read Brian's message on the soapbox yesterday? He looks a bit depressed, what you think?
good thing is that he says"it is the beginning of many things"
Exactly! He seems a bit dissapointed at something, perhaps certain artists' attitudes. But the "beginning of many things" comment hopefully reflects his desire to do more with Roger. But it also could mean he hopes it's the start of more AIDS awareness.

but... OMG!!
this is so far one of the "bad humored" message i ever saw on bri's soapbox! I really wonder what happened.. my guess is that the REAL event didn't go well and i agree; media always rarely talked about it and just to say that bono and peter gabriel were there... press rubbish, as always.
he could be depressed about beyonce's IWTBF performance and once again i agree with him... but did she know the lyrics or what??
I'm anyway happy of you, Bri and Rog, you really gave your heart to the matter, not only (great) music. Go on.
And i'm really looking for the continue of "that's been only the beginning" thing.
Cheers Brian!!
That wasn't beyonce by the way, but for the rest I agree ... It was only Beyonce, U2 and Peter Gabriel who were mentioned in the media
Only the German Tagesschau before the broadcast at ZDF Germany showed Brian during The Show Must Go On and mentioned they had a great part in the project
most of the news here in italy were for bono and Beyonce, stating even that "One" by U2 was the last song of the show!
Maybe the tv edition tonight on mtv will be edited this way?
I hope they'll not cut too many Queen songs.
However, I talked about italian media on my site (the "Editoriale" section) asking for the italian readers to send an e-mail to MTV...but I really don't know how many people actually sent their mails...
All the best
Carmelo
The setlist says Tandy (whoever that is...S-African singer? whatever).
Not Ms Dynamite or Beyonce..and it didn't sound or look like either (even though I watched the blurry webcast :P)
Maybe he missed Freddie just as much as I did. Somehow I can't get used to other people doing the leadvocals. Maybe it brought back memories for him (and Roger). And of course, such an event needs a lot of preparation/rehearsing/planning, and then it's suddenly all over within a few hours. Sort of anticlimax.
he talks about "missing the ball", "making silly mistakes", he puts the blame on himself and I don't understand why, his performance was so good! But he also talks about "rampants", "loneliness"...very bitter lines, I expected anything but not this
The other "artists"... Anyone would be frustrated after sth like this. He was good- so what...? The performance in general wasn't really good.........well, it was bad........
very bad
I agree with Jaye is saying, perhaps it has brought back memories of the sort. However, Brian always seemed to have admited to be a very insecure person. Perhaps either all the emotion has overwhelmed him.
Cheer up Brian.
You know what they say...
some things are bad they can really make you mad...
some things make you wanna to swear and curse
....
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE!
I just watched a recording of the concert. Mr May didnt look a happy camper all night, at one point he shields his face with the neck of the guitar and the camera goes close up he seems to be almost in tears.
Also, Roger looks like he is miming his drumming was so weak : (
I agree it is defo the most depressing message Brian has ever posted but the hint of optimism at the end re: "the beginning" makes may hopeful
: )
The media in Spain mentioned the show a lot, but spanish people aren't going to know that "Queen" was there...
maybe cause the media didnt mention that Queen was there...and btw did Roger and Brian have something to do with putting this thing together???
maybe he was also afraid by incredible lyrics confusion on IWTBF adding Andrea Corr's mistake about ITTWWC last performance on live aid...and many other things we didn't saw or heard...
Look at Brian's face when WWRY starts and Anastasia (or whoever sings it) completely confuses the words. Brian's expression is like "geez, hopefully nobody noticed".
Of course it could be for Break Free, Amandla. Also, the volume of
the acoustic guitar was a bit low on Is This The World We Created.
And then of course the wrong news which talked about Bono and
Beyonce, without even mentioning Queen and Eurythmics.
Yet... Ok, Brian has a strong ego, but I think that when he said
"insanity of the media" he bothered about the little advertisement
of the event, not about the wrong merits and credits.
Then of course he seemed frustrated with himself and his silly
mistakes, but he probably said right about his "propensity for
missing the ball". I would not feel depressed at all in his shoes!
Anyway it happens to everybody to feel depressed and I don't want to
investigate too much. It seems he feels better now, just look at the
December page.
Queen was spectacular. And as a South African who attented the concert I was ANGRY that they chose the lead singer from Bongo Maffin to do IWTBF. She messed up completely and did the song NO JUSTICE. Anyway, Brian and Roger made up for it with their beautiful drum rolls and guitar riffs....
