Holy cow! Bri, don't die! |
JS21 25.05.2020 18:24 |
Glad Brian is doing better now. I used to feel that Brian will definitely live to be 100 years old, given his healthy lifestyle. But looks like anything can happen to anyone at any time. PS: I still feel he will live to be 100 years old or even longer: ) |
miraclesteinway 25.05.2020 19:21 |
Well, however long he gets I hope he can stay in good health for some time yet! It's very scary that he had no symptoms! Brian has been living as a virtual advert for healthy vegetarian lifestyle for at least 20 years, and as far as I know he hardly ever drinks, doesn't take drugs, and doesn't and has never smoked. Who knows what he did in the years of Queen's excess, and research is showing that hard living in our younger years can still have a negative effect on our later years (shit....) but obviously it's better to clean up one's act than to continue living in excess... Anyway, Brian, I wish you the best of health and I'm very happy to hear you're doing well, if you should ever read this. |
matt z 25.05.2020 19:44 |
God, I was fearing something like this... what with people still making quips about the guy and his shredded glute. Please, get well...I'm gonna say a little meditative thought (or prayer) for the man. I hope he gets evaluated thoroughly to take care of what they can |
JS21 25.05.2020 20:09 |
@miraclesteinway- It is very scary. Staying healthy is the most important thing. Hope he gets well soon. |

Hope Brian is feeling better soon, maybe the very heavy touring that Queen&AL have been doing must slow down now,Brian's health is the most important thing. |

It’s incredible that Brian was able to keep a lid on this and be the first to break the news to fans. It was reassuring to hear directly from him as to what happened and how he’s doing now. So grateful a Doctor was with him. |

My thoughts exactly Phillip Storey. This global, high octane touring can't possibly be sustained at their age. Interesting to see what the future brings. |

We're going to have to get used to some sad losses in the next few years. The greatest generation of rock musicians are getting towards the end, for example: Brian May 73 Bob Dylan 79 Charlie Watts 79 Bill Wyman 84 Mick Jagger 77 Keef Richards 77 Eric Clapton 75 Tina Turner 81 Tony Iommi 72 Paul McCartney 78 Ringo Starr 80 Rob Halford 69 Jeff Beck 76 Jimmy Page 76 Eddie Van Halen 65 Robert Plant 72 Angus Young 65 John Paul Jones 74 Roger Daltrey 76 We've already lost a lot of great musicians and the news won't get any better over the next few years. |
Sunshine 26.05.2020 11:29 |
Agree also: Steven Tyler 73 Joe Perry 70 Tom Hamilton 68 Brad Whitford 68 Joey Kramer 69 Roger Taylor 71 John Deacon 69 Roger Waters 76 Nick Mason 76 David Gilmour 74 Joe Walsh 73 Pete Townshend 75 and many more |
Nathan H 26.05.2020 16:23 |
Stevie Nicks 72 Lindsey Buckingham 70 Mick Fleetwood 72 John McVie 74 Christine McVie 76 Peter Green 73 Brian Johnson 72 Brian Wilson 77 |

Who will replace these great names in the future ? |
philip storey 27.05.2020 12:11 |
Lets not forget these stars who are getting on a bit. Noddy Holder 73-Gene Simmons 70- Ozzy Osbourne 71- Ian Gillian 74 - Ritchie Blackmore 75 - Ron Mael 74 - Billy Gibbons 70 - Dusty Hill 71 - Snowy White 72 - Ian Paice 71 - Roger Glover 74 - Andy Scott 70 - Steve Priest. I am afraid time catches up with us all in the end, nothing is more certain. Maybe Donald Trump will come up with a pill to keep you alive forever ! |

I suppose when you think of the rock'n'roll lifestyle, drink, drugs, late nights, flights all over the world it's a miracle that some manage to get into their late 70's even 80's.I think David Gahan has been brought back to life three times due to a mixture of drink and heroin in his system.Great front man though. |

Pretty well everything else from the last 20 years will be seen as irrelevant. Or it's invisible in a sea of millions of artists and wasn't marketed by the biz because the biz has scarcely been in the biz of marketing art for decades now. Barely any rock here. It has been irrelevant in the grand scheme of things since OK Computer. Robert Plant stopped working with Jimmy Page the moment he saw Johnny Greenwood play with his pedals in lieu of a guitar solo. If there's a dominant genre right now, it's hip-hop. Maybe country. Hip-hop has done to rock what rock did to jazz in the 60s. Also - Kate Bush needs to be mentioned in this sausage fest of a thread. She is in the top ten of any list of 20th century pop culture icons. Stevie Nicks too. |

We should not sing Brian's swan song yet. He has had stents implanted and he can live with that for decades if there are no other health issues. However, it will greatly affect his psyche and he has to rehabilitate on every level. I really hope he focusses on his full recovery now and finds pleasure and satisfaction in whatever projects he can undertake without overstraining his body and mind. |
Holly2003 28.05.2020 08:47 |
He should also never, ever view Queenzone as it might put an end to him. |

Should the below George Carlin performance be deleted as well? link ... “Would you like me to tell you about something I really like?” he teased the crowd at the MGM Grand. “Fatal disasters. Fatal disasters with a lotta dead people.” He called the 10-minute closer “Uncle Dave” and it came after Carlin had done an Osama bin Laden, airplane explosion joke earlier in the set. Ah, the difference a day makes. He named the bit not for a real uncle, but for a cosmic, doomsday scenario in which Earth collapses and disgruntled Uncle Daves everywhere are redeemed. Carlin loved the closer enough to make its key line — “I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die” — the title of his special. ... "I spoke to Carlin only once, in 1999, and pressed him on a school shooting bit, which he did the night of the Columbine High School massacre in Littleton, Colo. “How can you still do that joke?” I asked. “Boy, you need that joke more than ever now,” he said. “The artificial weeping in this country, this nationwide mourning for dead people is just embarrassing, and these ribbons and these teddy bears and these little places where they put notes to dead people and all this s---. This is embarrassing and unnecessary, and it just shows how immature, how emotionally immature the American people as a class are.” link ... I suppose Fatty's posts should be deleted as well? |

I never thought we'd see the day that a long timer would call for deleting a joke thread done in bad but humorous taste. I think it's a good reprieve from the public grief we might share, though I've seen some things feel really awful about. The truth is the anger and sadness about them is personal and it's kind of strange since we may not know many of these peopleon any personal level. I didn't update when Prince died, and Cornell. ...and both those are mired in suspicion and or potential suicide. Doesn't mean that the absurdity of the thread was ever malicious. Has anyone updated for Little Richard? Bri & Jerry Lee Lewis shared the stage live --> next time JLL & Little Richard met. It could have also traveled by association through to the band KISS who has shared recent enough photos backstage with him Myself, I regard Little Richard as THE most transcendent live performer I've been witness to. And as much reverence i have for seeing the man live in 2nd row center seating when he was 72 , he was still beyond even A RJD or dare i say Prince.... even blew away Sam Moore who was on the same Bill. The man was tremendous. The energy and spirit he created or invoked in that house was something else. Dare I say Little Richard was an alien! ;) But that said. ...I would still *get it* IF he popped up in the Brian's Curse thread. We should all be so lucky |

I wonder if anyone here remembers the discussion forum on the former website of the official Queen fan club. It closed because some people posted jokes about Freddie Mercury. One of them I randomly remember went like: "what is pink and covered in dust? Freddie Mercury's slippers", so obviously the jokes were in great taste and style :-). Unfortunately, a shit storm, which was not yet called a shit storm in 1998/99, broke loose and in the end Jacky closed the forum. The fun-loving minority of that forum moved over to the small, regional Queenzone forum while the good, offended majority moved to a place called "Queen Forever, which has long been forgotten. Queenzone, on the other hand, grew from there into an international forum and has now existed for almost a quarter of a century. No, we won't delete that thread, sorry. It's funny. |

thomasquinn 32989 29.05.2020 14:35 |
Sorry Bob, but on this count, you're just wrong. YV's tasteless example of self-congratulatory smugness after willfully neglecting to do her fucking duty by actually moderating the spammers and trolls leading to a nigh-on complete abandonment of QZ by *ALMOST EVERYONE*, while disgusting and ridiculous in equal measure, does not change that. The Brian's curse thread is harmless humor, even if it is black humor. @YV: have you no self-respect? None at all? Are you not able to see how you are responsible for the REAL clusterfuck that you allowed to happen here on QZ in the past year or so? And do you not feel the least bit of shame thumping your chest and proclaiming what a great job you've done? |
Saint Jiub 29.05.2020 15:45 |
I don't see the smugness or chest thumping, but the self-taught smugness expert has spoken ... |
