UPDATED: Due to criticism in the past, I've removed the full version of Earth from the file. This is the hour show but I've cut out all the songs played to avoid copyright. It's an MP3 320kbps file because BBC Sounds App content are in that format and if I converted it to a lossless file, it would be fake! Length: 19:43 Size: 45.1 MB https://mega.nz/#F!wiInGQ7I!tQ-Lx5UNY2JclEzFBHGPgg Enjoy! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The songs played: 1. Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown 2. Jimi Hendrix - Sunshine of Your Love 3. The Beatles - Get Back 4. The Who - Pinball Wizard 5. Joe Cocker - With a Little Help from My Friends 6. Smile - Earth 7. Blind Faith - Can't Find My Way Home 8. The Rolling Stones - Honky Tonk Women 9. Plastic Ono Band - Give Peace a Chance 10. David Bowie - Space Oddity Extracts of Led Zeppelin's Who Lotta Love and The Beatles' Come Together were also played in the show. |

Thanks for the share. Do you remember what time Earth is at? I want to see how it compares to the Ghost of a Smile CD. |

Earth was never officially released? I must have dreamed the flopped single then. |

Stick wrote: Earth was never officially released? I must have dreamed the flopped single then.Well it was, but it hasn't been officially released since. To get a copy of that original single is extremely tricky. |
Stick 21.07.2019 19:33 |
You're right about that. Very glad I found the Ghost of a Smile cd in a local record shop in the late 90's |

Both the Gettin' Smile LP (1982) and Ghost Of A Smile CD (1997) are official releases, as confirmed by both Brian and Tim. Besides these two and the original promo 7" (and numerous test pressing), the song was also officially available in a couple of transcription discs from Radio Today's series Rarities. |

How rare are Gettin Smile and Ghost Of A Smile? |

No point really @penetrationguru, was just interested as I have both of them. |

I call something officially released something which anybody could buy for a reasonable price. Anyway, has anybody compared the two versions of Earth? Is it an improved version? |

When a song has been released on a commercially available medium by the legal copyright holder at any time within the limits set by relevant copyright legislation, that song has been officially released. That is not a matter of opinion, but of law. |

Is the "News of the World 40th Anniversary Box Set" officially released? |
Stick 22.07.2019 20:38 |
Of course. What made you doubt that one? |
stevelondon20 22.07.2019 20:39 |
Definitely released yeah. |

Stick wrote: Of course. What made you doubt that one?LOL. I thought it might be "unofficial" based on the "21st Century Music Fan" definition because the NotW box set was so ungodly overpriced for just one CD (the "alternate" NotW). ... Plus it was an off-handed comment towards a particular poster who did not buy the box set when it was newly released (or ever?), but felt justified in downloading the "Alternate" NotW CD for free ... |

Comments on here is really annoying me now: I uploaded a 23 minute audio clip as a gesture for people who may not be able to access the BBC Sounds App or those who want to keep the recording for longer than the thirty days it offers. I also happened to mention that it's got a high quality recording of Earth and it has turned into an argument over what "officially released" means. |
Stick 23.07.2019 20:38 |
But you do realize you yourself started that discussion by stating that according to you officially released is subjective. Everything else is just evolution within a thread. This happens on forums. Also, this last comment by you smells like you are just looking for praise. Thats not a healthy motivation for sharing something. Rather a needy and weak one. |
blueroom 24.07.2019 02:32 |
I'm not sure whether or not this version of Earth is better than the Ghost CD. The bass is overpowering in this version, mixed way too prominently, distracts from the other instruments. |

I rather nobody praising than people having debate on what officially released means on the wrong section of the site. |
aristide1 24.07.2019 17:48 |
I'm surprised to see the same stupid debate many years after the matter was quietly settled among people sharing a minimum common sense. It's crazy to butcher a radio program just because it contains official material. |
