It just dawned on me: around February, we will have another Queen related release, the movie's DVD/Blu-ray version. Based on the movie's contents, there's a chance that it will include some actual Queen extras on top of the typical behind the scenes stuff. I expect: - Full Live Aid performance (including ITTWWC?) I predict: - Instrumental and/or bespoke edits of Queen songs for some extras (picture gallery, menus, etc.) Wishful thinking: - Something actually new, as in reference footage that hasn't been on official releases to date. Hopefully musical performances. Also, there might be something worth having from the 5.1 mix, but I'm unsure at the moment. Thoughts? |

>there's a chance that it will include some actual Queen extras on top of the typical behind the scenes stuff superdeuxeedition.com have just released this detail for the planned Super Deluxe Edition: 1 - Life-size, inflatable Roger Taylor and Brian May dolls with both rear and oral openings. Real-feel 'skin' and on-board player that houses an embossed cassette that carries all yur favourite quotes from the movie. Brian's hair isn't removable as it's assumed that everyone loves it that way. 2 - Wearable Freddie-teeth as cast from Rami Malik's prop as seen throughout the movie. 3 - Facsimile 1974 Queen tour set list featuring the current hit single "Fat Bottomed Girls". 4 - Reproduction Aylesbury Odeon cinema ticket and one-sheet with attractive crease running through the middle. Housed in a velvet-lined box, styled in the shape of John's bouffant from the Radio Ga Ga video. A lavish, 88-page hard-backed book comes with a foreword written by Freddie's favourite singers, Adam Lambert and Paul Rodgers. |

It'll Probably have a second disk of Wembley and Adam Lambert + Queen highlights. A documentary on the making of the film A documentary about Freddie Mercury with Brian, Roger and Peter Freestone on set telling the usual stories... "Once Freddie had an appointment at 11am, but I accidentally wrote down 10 and we had to wait around London for an hour. We popped into Harrods....." Commentary by whoever could be bothered to do commentary, Malik, Ben Hardy and so on. |

Rami said in an interview that the Crazy Little Thing scene in the bath was filmed but didn't make the cut but that it would be made available at some point. So there's one extra surely. Plus a few more scenes I'd think. |

Dysan, your idea for a Deacon commentary track is fantastic! |

Since they've omitted The Man in the Shadows from the film, it would be reasonable to assume it receives a full re-issue with the blu-ray. |

Scenes not in the movie: The full Live Aid set. More of Freddie Mercury when he was clubbing in NYC in the 80s. How Freddie came up with Crazy Little Thing Called Love in the bathtub. Longer scenes of Freddie and Mary in their apartment. How Freddie came up with the Queen emblem for the band. How John Deacon joined the band. The band played ’39 when on tour in Japan. |

What about 4K UHD? I settle for nothing less these days (ok, the odd blu ray but DVD/SD is the 'VHS of today' !) |

On second thought, they might include the partial Queen performance and/or a sort of side-to-side comparison of the movie performance to showcase the recreation. |

Dor certain they did the full Live Aid set, Rami said in an interview that they filmed how Freddie came up with CLTCL and one of the trailers shows the whole band playing the full acoustic set. It'll be interesting to see whether they edit the extra scenes into the film or have each one separate. I think it'll work better as one film even if it does make it really long. |

I just saw the movie, it was released on cinemas here today, and I notice the airport scene from the trailer (Japan) didn’t make the final cut, also the scene that we saw a picture where he sees “Mr. Bad Guy” on sale it’s not either, neither the “Bow” Rock in Rio scene that Rami mentioned in interviews as the last thing they filmed, and that’s just what I could quickly remember from just seeing it. Also, I think I read somewhere they did film some scenes from his Childhood, and those weren’t used either. From the quick pace (in some senses to quick at times, like some critics suggested) of the early movie scenes you can easily tell and feel that most likely a lot was cut on the final edit, likely due to the time they had to keep the film under. But it’s understandable IMO. |

*I think I read somewhere they did film some scenes from his Childhood* Peter Freestone said he met with the actor, they cast Adam Raulf, have his scenes been cut? |

I read an article on the NY Daily News website talking about the movie where it says that the full Live Aid set was performed and filmed and is a planned extra for the home media release. I would also hope that they include extended scenes of some of the movie's other live performances. I would also expect deleted scenes and a making of documentary. I always enjoy bloopers as well; so hopefully they're included. Personally, I also think it would be cool to see an extra with Roger, Brian and Tim Staffel together and discussing Smile's history, how Freddie came to follow them and eventually join them. |
fruhzs 02.11.2018 18:28 |
Emrabt, Yes, those unfortunately were cut. The movie starts with him working in Heathrow (after a brief Live Aid sequence), so no childhood scenes. |

Tim and Freddie were friends from art college, Brian was Tim's mate. Roger answered an ad for a drummer then became Freddie's workmate at the market.... So Fred was always there in the background, he didn't just appear suddenly while Tim quit the band and met Roger and Brian in the back of their van, which they used to solve mysterys on sundays. |

Here's to hoping for an Extended Version of the movie with all the deleted scenes, say, an extra 20-30 min or so. What we'll probably get is the full movie Live Aid setlist as an extra and a few other deleted scenes, not recut into the movie. All the digital shorts released (Becoming Freddie, etc.). Maybe a brief "Making of documentary" that somehow manages to avoid mentioning the fact that the movie ever had a director. |
cmsdrums 04.11.2018 19:11 |
They definitely filmed a ‘making of the Bo Rhap video’ section. I’d like to see: more on the first tour of Japan, Madison Square Gardens for the first time with Brian’s dad there and how he reacted, band reactions to Roger’s first solo single and subsequent albums |
