Here's something that'll hopefully cheer a few people up after the utterly disappointing press release for On Air. It isn't a file share, but it's something quite related to it.
I've added a new section to my website: link
(or click on "collecting" and then "bootleg LPs" on the menu)
I've basically taken all the existing info on Queen bootleg LPs and put it into one place, so those of us keeping tabs on all the releases over the years can see what they've got and what they need.
Fortunately most of this material is already available for download, but let this be a guide for what's out there as a whole. Of course there is a lot of repetition, with bootleggers creating fake dates since they were often trying to pass off existing material as something new. But there is still a lot of music represented here. Many of these titles may be new to you, as there really have been a lot of them - about 150. If I've missed any, do let me know !
I've also included some acetate records, and no doubt there are some gaps in the knowledge about them (particularly the "Live In Japan" one from Tokyo 75 and another called "Summer Tour '78"), so if you've heard of these or even just have decent scans of the sleeves - help a brother out, will ya !?
And there is allegedly the Japanese acetate of an early version of Free In The Park - a far superior copy of the audience tape. I've heard some samples, and they blow the existing LP out of the park. Hopefully these listings will lead to some good healthy banter.
In this digital age we tend to forget about this stuff. Have a listen to the "Invite You To A Night At The Budokan" and "Save Me" LPs (both available on Queenzone), and take a trip to a time when this material was the only way to hear Queen live on tape if you'd had your fill of Live Killers. Some of it remains truly excellent.
Have fun !
There's a bootleg LP of the Newcastle 86 show called "At St. James Park": link
Does anyone know anything about it?
And the Osaka 10-24-82 bootleg LP called "This Is Not" - does anyone have a scan of the sleeve?
