Yesterday Greg Brooks featured on the Queendag with the breath taking news about what Queen have in the pipelines and even more telling us what we can't expect. I am not shooting the messenger, it's not Greg Brook's fault what they release and what they don't release. - A Queen 3D photography book is planned based on the photos taken by Brian on stage and off stage. Look forward to Freddie's nose coming out of the picture while he powders it backstage. - the long awaited Brian Queen memorabilia book is in the 10th year of the making and by now it will probably be 2 books, so it will take another 1-5 years to make. - A Queen monopoly game is in said pipeline (meaning we don't know when it will come out) based on Queen tours. So you can buy a Wembley Stadium etc. We will get this because Brian is such a big monopoly fan - By the end of the year they want to release a Queen radio edition based on the BBC recordings. There will be a 2CD and 6 CD edition. The 6 CDs contain the BBC sessions (don't ask me about completeness), radio interviews and live material that somehow is connected to the radio theme. The 2 CDs will contain BBC sessions as well but will be different enough to make you buy them on top of the 6 CDs. No video material is in this package. - In November we can look forward to the Greatest Hits double vinyl release in unprecedented quality. I guess that Freddie's 25th death anniversary reminded Jim Bitch that he is not supposed to make Freddie boring, so a new GH edition is the best release to achieve that. The funny thing was that GB did not want to "confirm this" but reluctantly did when he was told that the item is already on amazon. - No more 70s concert DVDs will be released although they are "looking" at the material (Houston, EC, HP etc) and maybe some day there will be a compilation - or not. - we can also forget about the anthology or any outtakes/demos because Brian and Roger are such perfectionists etc etc. Plus the casual customer is not interested. - also in the famous pipelines: the Brian May solo box. Supposedly, the casual customer is interested enough in that as the previous sales numbers of Brian May stuff sufficiently proves. - Greatest Video hits: a lot of blahblah but no specifics. promo videos are also in that pipeline and won't come out for a long time. They could make re-edits from all the rushes they have but why speculate, in the end the few promo clips we do not have will be missing anyway, because they are such perfectionists etc etc. |

I took these from a post in the official international queen fan club fb-group. They weren't mendioned in YourValentine's post. But yeah, I'm so happy they're planning a Queen Monopoly game, I'd take that over 70's concerts anyday lol. "-A Live killers Box Set is work in progress, in-between other projects -Working on Hyde Park/Earls Court, not yet sure if it is going to be the whole concerts as a solo release, or a compilation, cause of lack of quality..." |

The lack of quality? I'm sorry, since when QPL became care about quality? Do they think that poor quality will be deterred from buying the next never seen before material? If to speak about quality, "the quality" is not only good quality Studio recording buffed to a Shine where you can hear the coughs, farts or other sounds. It is primarily the quality of the content. Unfortunately I have noticed( I think many will agree with me) that the quality of the content as bonuses on the reissue of the Studio albums in 2011 leaves much to be desired. |

If the Hammersmith 1975 marked the end of the 70's concert then it's a great shame. A Night At The Odeon is not a release with which they could with style end the live 70's material. Are they waiting for 2019 or 2029 or 2039 for a release of Hammy 1979 ? It's a huge shame. Does it also mean that now they will focus on the eighties or only the most recent live material ? Does Joe Public really want only Q+AL now ? |

We almost should join forces as fans and create the ultimate Queen anthology boxset. We have waited long enough and i'm sure there is enough material to do us. Brian and Roger won't ever give us what we want so we rather should make it ourselves |
brians wig 25.09.2016 16:30 |
Well that's it then. With very little else to look forward to, I don't know why I F'ing bother anymore. That's just completely taken the wind out of my enthusiasm for Convention this year. Daft thing is, the Anthology set will sell WAY more than Brian's shitty little re-release box set which, no doubt, will be as disappointing as Roger's. |
dave76 25.09.2016 16:53 |
I agree with you. If they only knew that a sort of anthology boxset would be bought by thousands of desperate fans but they simply doesn't care anymore. Look at what The Beatles made on their anthology boxsets in 1995 and 1996. Million copies sold. I had enough of waiting and made my own boxset 2 years ago and i am very proud of it. We should join forces and create the anthology boxset that fans deserves based on what is out there. The Fanthology should be revived as well. I'm all for that. If Roger and Brian won't give us maybe we should do it ourselves. |

YourValentine 26.09.2016 02:24 |
I am a little surprised that you all are so disappointed about the anthology not happening, this is really old news. I don't understand how Brian May as a scientist does not buy into the idea of an anthology, it would be Queen history. A demo can never be perfect or it would not be a demo but a full song. For me it would be 100 times more worthwhile than re-animated second rate pop tunes like "Let Me In Your Heart Again" which was ditched for very good reasons at the time. Personally, I am more disappointed about the non-release of more concert videos from the 70s but nobody asks my opinion, so I stopped being angry. In return I also stopped buying all the re-releases, let the casual fan buy them, I only buy what I really want and not for completeness anymore. Maybe they would listen to the fans if the fans stopped buying everything that is thrown at them including tickets for *Queen Extravaganza". As long as this happens they will keep re-releasing Greatest Hits in every imaginable form and package. |
brians wig 26.09.2016 03:14 |
I have to say, nothing surprises me anymore. It has been obvious for years that Brian is more interested in Kerry Ellis, 3D photography, Astronomy and badgers than Queen itself. I am not sure what Roger’s interests are – but if half of the 2 remaining members still active is too busy then nothing much will happen. The sheer number of things mentioned as coming soon/being worked on – and nothing ever materialises – says to me that the sticking point is Brian and Roger. They should let someone else take control of stuff and get things moving without them having to oversee things. But you do wonder if Island/Universal/QPL are just looking to make cash for minimal effort. Just look at the number of adverts now using Queen tracks – including 2 different ones using Flash (well, versions of it). I know on the Roobarb Queen forum that people posting are appalled at the use of the track in this way – and just say it demonstrates making a quick buck seems to be the driving force these days, rather than preserving integrity and respect for the Queen brand. |

I think the task of covering all their career in one go may be too daunting vs the unknown returns. Maybe the band should consider doing a boxset of anthologies by a practical period, for example, a boxset covering 1973 to 1977 first. This can cut down the effort involved and enable them to assess the demand for such an effort. |
Barry Durex 26.09.2016 03:44 |
It's up to the collectors to liberate some of the video recordings now. Some are wary of sharing what's not really theirs, so they need to do it incognito. They might not be as good as what's in the QPL vaults, but they sure are better quality and more complete than what we would otherwise see by way of an unlikely official release. Don't take it to the grave, leak it. |

Never been a collector of EVERYTHING but I am sad about the Anthology and the 70's concerts, I really had hoped for a 77-8 era one, I can kind of understand the Anthology not going ahead, I guess that releasing something that all four had used as work-in-progress is maybe not your first choice when they were always known for perfectionisum in the studio. It's sad but I guess I can see their point, as an artist you really only want people to her what YOU believe is your best, and putting it together and producing it would be a major task and cost... Shame |
Vali 26.09.2016 06:10 |
C'mon, any other artist is releasing boxsets with rarities, demos, alt. mixes, raw live recordings etc, etc, these days. The reason why Queen, lead by Freddie Mercury (legend status), won't follow that path is beyond any reasonable comprehension. It's ridiculous to say the least. "Casual customer is not interested in such product". Yeah, yeah .... Brian's boxset will sell millions, I'm sure., as Roger's did. They get praise after the FANTASTIC Rainbow release but decide to show us their finger afterwards. |
jondickens1 26.09.2016 09:36 |
It's strange that everyone on this thread has commented that no more 70s concerts will be released. A thread on Facebook I read from a fan who went to the Dutch convention and listened to Greg Brookes said otherwise. Hyde Park,Earls Court and Houston were being worked on. The issue though was whether to release them as standalone concerts or as a highlights. This was,as Greg Brookes mentioned, because Roger and Brian are perfectionists and we're not entirely happy with the quality. In addition the same Facebook post mentions that Greg Brookes confirmed that a live Killers box set is work in progress. Intriguingly Greg Brookes only confirmed the release of Queen on Air in November when a fan questioned (after Mr Brookes was firstly unwilling to announce the release of Queen on Air) why the release date had been seen on Amazon. So not all negative news, hopefully. |

I preface this with the fact that I don't wish ill on anyone I've said this before and I hold true to this. We will get an anthology type rarities set. But not until B and/or R pass on. Right now whatever YOUR view of Queen is....B/R view Queen as an active entity even if it's just touring with AL. The only thing that will stop that is when one of them join Freddie. I believe that if it were up to Jim Beach we would have an archival project by now. It is basically he who is in charge of the Freddie estate and his solo work and I think it's quite safe to say that overall Freddie's solo work has had the most interesting or complete releases (especially given the man only had 2 solo albums). Brian and/or Roger at this point are just comfortable....they are mostly happy playing a gh setlist to decent size crowds. Brian especially. I think Roger would be more likely - Brian seems just not motivated by anything Queen-related these days with the exception of playing gigs - especially in places Queen didn't get the chance to play before. He's (They've) earned that right certainly, but I think it's just something we have to accept. |

They could make re-edits from all the rushes they have but why speculate, in the end the few promo clips we do not have will be missing anyway, because they are such perfectionists etc etc.Wait. All of this is actually real info? What the hell are they smoking over there at "Queen Towers"??????? |

Brian and Roger need to die first before something decent comes out again. The sad truth, I'm afraid. |

They can't even release a proper promo video collection - and how bog standard is that? They can't bring themselves to officially release definitive versions of things that have been bootlegged for decades. It's taken this long for a poxy full BBC collection to come out. Fuck em. It's their material, but they don't give a fuck about their fanbase. |

They're both old, so very very old. What would fans like? A big coffee table book. Very Richard & Judy. A 3D book! Ohhhh that's clever. Or at least it was back in 1885. What next? Some NotW boiled sweets? Queen reading glasses? Jazz woolly socks? A Rainbow balloon to blow up? Oh we got that one already... :) |

Let's not forget of course how crap Hyde Park looks: link |

Let alone how dire Earls Court is: link |

@The Kurgan: you make so painfully clear how wrong their point of view is. |
brians wig 27.09.2016 15:09 |
I think the problem with Hyde Park is that they don't have the full multitracks - like anybody cares. We'd all happily have it in mono if the sound was clear. Earls Court - there are a lot of dodgy camera shots, BUT that's on the version we have. If QPL have both nights and multiple camera feeds, what's stopping them from creating a combination of both nights ala Rainbow 74? Again, in mono if needs be. It's all excuses. |
Oscar J 27.09.2016 15:36 |
I'm pretty sure they do have the multitracks for Hyde Park, maybe not for the full shows though? As we've seen tracks like Ogre Battle, Sweet Lady, you Take My Breath Away, You're My Best Friend, etc. remixed (and cool and raw sounding too, I'd argue much better than the weird sounding Odeon 75 release). |
Gripen 27.09.2016 15:53 |
@The Kurgan: Yeah, you're right, that looks pretty bad... I think Greg Brooks is bullshitting us, he wouldn't even confirm Queen on Air, which basically has a release date through Amazon and a Danish record store, I believe. At least I hope so. Queen on Air is something I normally would buy the "box set" of, and the Queen in 3D book also, as i found that stereography really is something. If anyone in the "Queen towers" are reading this, we want the real deal - music or video, not any more nonsense merchandise. You also have the possibility of convincing or influence what Brian and Roger thinks about their "imperfections". They don't always seem to keep up to date with what the fans want. Cheers! |

Rhys Thomas: About Earl's Court "Earls Court exists but the sound needs a lot of work for a surround sound mix. Picture wise it's good, but only a mixing tape -ie. no rushes like Wembley for example." About Hyde Park (no mention of problems with the audio or video) "All of these things will come out one day, I am sure. We are discussing what do do next. Probably an early years DVD - Rainbow/Hammersmith 75 and maybe Hyde Park. Just discussions. Not confirmed." |

Im seeing 2-7-75 but either way its probably from before 76 since its says trident on the side and they left trident a little after the night at the opera sessions |

really disappointed to hear that they aren't thinking of releasing Hyde Park soon. didnt we hear fairy recently that Hyde Park would 'definitely be released' probably 2017? and we were told the reason that they werent releasing it this year was due to Queen on Air coming out. im sure i read that personally and like many others, im not interested in Monopoly, books etc. im only interested in 70s gigs [esp Houston, Hyde Park, Earls Court and Hammersmith 79 as i have them on bootleg and they are all brilliant.] and Beatles Anthology type releases. They released a few on the reissues. therefore, what is the issue with releasing more? Sail away sweet sister on the game wasnt perfect but it was superb anyway. im baffled by their game plan to be honest, it doesnt make any sense to me. if i were in a band which had footage as good as the aforementioned 70s gigs i'd be screaming for them to be released. it is all so much better than the Magic tour! something different from The Works tour would be good too [not Rio] the Tokyo 85 gig could be released with a bit of remixing i.e. turning the flippin keyboard down and the guitar up |

Some of this is not entirelyaccurate. It's a mostly fair summary, but has a few details not quite right. Thus I've just posted a new thread in an attempt to cover it all in as much detail as I can. Thanks |
