Hello I’m just writing to thank you for your comments of appreciation and approval for our work on Live At The Rainbow ’74. Working on this project was a great joy and privilege and we tried put all we could into it - so it’s hugely gratifying to see such an overwhelmingly positive reaction from everybody and especially from fans. Thanks and best wishes Justin |

Excellent work and hopefully the first of many (a few) to come! |

Brilliant! Hopefully it's the first of many epic Queen live releases from the seventies :-) |

Thanks for the work. Please help all of us fans to push the band for more releases of live shows. |
Vali 18.11.2014 06:16 |
ThankYOU Justin. This is the way to go. Keep delivering top class material like this from the vaults and we'll be the happiest fans in the world. It was about time to have such a beauty under the Queen label at home !! :-) |
ColMan 18.11.2014 06:41 |
You did very good job. Hoping to see more releases like this in the near future. |
KevoM 18.11.2014 06:47 |
Justin, why no blu ray audio releases of Queen's album back catalogue? Doesn't have to be multi-channel, good old stereo will suffice. There's only so much milage you can get out of NATO (or maybe not!) |
jondickens1 18.11.2014 07:37 |
Thanks Justin, it's an absolute gem of a release and your hard work is very much appreciated. Are there any more 70's concerts in the archives planned for the same treatment as The Rainbow? Earls Court or Houston maybe? |

Thank you Justin and also the rest of the team for all the hard work you put in to ensure that this release was made possible. Hopefully we'll see some more concerts like this released in the years to come. |

Hey Justin Without doubt the best Queen release on DVD so far. keep em coming |
MackMantilla 18.11.2014 09:11 |

Justin - thanks for taking the time to come here now and again. Here's to a few more releases like this ! You did a brilliant job on this one. By far, the best Queen release since Made In Heaven. This is the stuff we've been waiting for. Cheers, Wiz |

A superb release, which you deserve great credit for getting out. Listening to Fairy Fella's Master stroke live, reminded me of the first time I put the record Queen II on back in 1976 as a 12 year old. A shiver down my spine.. |
cmsdrums 18.11.2014 10:09 |
Thanks Justin; the audio on Rainbow and Montreal are superb. Any chance you can redo Milton Keynes with a decent snare and kick too?! ;-) |
Oscar J 18.11.2014 10:10 |
Thanks for your brilliant work. Would love a few more audio or video releases of concerts from the 70's. |

It's been said many times already, but I think Rainbow'74 is Queen's best live release ever (Bought all the formats, except the single CD one) ! The March concert alone is a gem in every fan's collection. The band were hungry, raw and adventurous... just brill ! But the whole thing (sound and visuals) is amazing. I don't mind the tricks used on Freddie's voice as I think they're not too destructive. The sound mixing is very impressive as well. Remember the average quality of the bootlegs or videos we had access to in the old days ? What a difference now ! My jaw just drops every time I listen to stuff like White Queen or TFFMS ! Of course, it's all thanks to the evolution in technology and in both research and restoration work ! Thanks for the love put into these products ! I really, really hope the original Queen band gets more credit as... what would we call'em...!? Maestros. I said it before, but I think they deserve so much more respect from rock'n'roll fans... It is said we are big Queen fans in Belgium, but I still struggle to find anyone who does seem to elevate them higher than a purely commercial pop rock band... And Queen forever isn't exactly a good counter-example to this (I LOVE Brian's mix of LMIYHA though)... To sum it up, I'm looking forward to seeing more releases like Rainbow'74...! But I also know the recent Greatest Love Songs, or whatever you want to call it, will bring more (casual ?) fans to the "Royal family" nation... (I'm also looking forward to attending their forthcoming concert in Belgium in 2015 ! I don't love AL's voice, but I'm glad the guys are still doing the things they (and we) love. Am especially looking forward to hearing the father and son drum battle !) |

In my opinion, this is the best live album by Queen, amazing on every single level. Even the cover do makes a lot of sense and gets that "74 feeling" everything is top notch. Thank YOU! |

Justin, thank you for putting your work and love into remastering and restoring this gem. It is - as many have already said - (one of) the greatest Queen live albums. It surely reminded a lot of music journalist and people in general, that Queen were one of the heavier bands in the 70's. What is more important though, this release brought back faith in Queen Productions. Another thing is, that a hope for another great release was murdered by the official press release for Queen Forever.... I'd be extremely grateful if you could answer these two questions: 1) The Real Wizard's site (the best, concerning info on all the gig) states that basing on the tracklisting of the disc in B. Sheffield's office, Hangman was performed that night. Was it omitted from the release or we got all that's been recorded during the March show ? 2) Scenes included in the recent release of Let Me In Your Heart video raised hope that full Brussels gig from The Works tour was recorded. Could you shed some light on this matter ? Cheers Martin |

But I definitely don't state anything about Hangman being played on 3-31-74. The track sheet with the accurate setlist is included in the book that comes in the deluxe box. The only songs omitted are Big Spender and Bama Lama Bama Loo. |

Ooops, sorry ! I must have mistook it for another show... |

Rainbow is a super release. But not only Rainbow, Rock Montreal and Hungarian Rhapsody have a fantastic sound aswell. Great work Mr. Smith. |

JSS - the Rainbow release was the third Queen related release since Made In Heaven which made me really, really happy (after Freddie's box set and Milton Keynes). Keep up the good work and push as much as you guys can on Brian, Roger and Jim to release more of these 70's gigs - we all love 'em |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 19.11.2014 09:15 |
Folks said it all already, so I would just like to log my big fat Thank You to all involved for the hard work. It DOES mean a lot for us little freaky things down here. :) Cheers, Ogre- |

Thank you Shirley for taking your time to come here. It is a lovely production, amongst the best. Freddie would be happy with it. |

I hope this project has whetted your appetite to do one of the South American shows Buenos Aries 81 for example. Mannheim 86 was pretty awesome on the bootleg i have heard. I think Queen as a live act was top of their game 80-82 before the fags narrowed Freddie's range. |

And what the fuck was up with that shit in the end about "fags narrowing Freddie's range"???? To Justin: Why did you feel the need to autotune Freddie? |

Nitroboy wrote: And what the fuck was up with that shit in the end about "fags narrowing Freddie's range"????'Fags' is a very commonly UK slang term for cigarettes, and I therefore assume this is what was intended - it clearly loses something in translation!! |

Djdownsy has it pretty much on the dot. The cigarettes didn't have much impact on the range or tone, but it did give Freddie issues with stamina and recovery on live shows (plus the partying didn't help) on the post-Hot Space Tour shows. Get him on a good night/his best nights on the Works and Magic tours - he's got the same range he used during the early 80s shows (strong consistent upper 4th octave plus the occasional belt in the lower fifth and good falsetto throughout his range). |

Thx a lot Justin Shirley-Smith! What a great job! The best audio on a Queen live release so far! And maybe the best one in the history of music! Congrats! |

Thanks for making this release happen, Justin - absolutely brilliant. If you're still checking this, I'd second Nitroboy's question - what was the thought process behind the digital 'correction' of Freddie's voice? I understand that his performance was somewhat weak on the November shows, but he was soaring on the March concert, and there's significant pitch correction on that too. I suppose my point is this - I'm of the opinion that a slightly flat or sharp note is much more pleasant to listen to than a note that's clearly been digitally altered. I think most posters here would share this view. |
