Since no one else did something like this I guess here I have a slightly updated version of this documentary for you. Edit: I missed the audio provided by P-Tr extinction. Thanks to Barry Durex for letting me know. Thanks Chief Mouse. I'm sorry I couldn't get around to it, this has been a very busy time of the year for me ever since summer began. I've had little energy to deal with these projects for the most part. At least now, this will allow me to put more focus on working on some bootlegs very soon... |

Hats off to you sir! Thanks for taking time to do this and for sharing. I have so much video projects to do, some concerts, some weddings ... I can't see an editing suite anymore ;-) Glad you did this! |

I'm trying to download it since the morning, I always get just "temporary error, retrying" |

brians wig wrote: Although it's now half the original size and probably de-interlaced....?1) It's the same size. Most of the time I don't downscale good sources that have reasonable amount of detail. Reason most of my uploads are 640x480 is because either the source was smaller than that or was bad quality enough. Check my uploads of WATC, GOFLB from TOTP, they are the same size. Never made anything as small as half the original size except for New York 1976 interview which was upscaled youtube rip. 2) This was originally de-interlaced (progressive) so I didn't even touch this aspect. Reason I always de-interlace other videos is because I prefer it that way. I use QTGMC high quality deinterlacer that looks better than what VLC or other players can offer. Players do deinterlacing real-time so it won't be high quality. |
pittrek 10.09.2014 09:04 |
If I remember correctly the original video was encoded as interlaced TFF avg 8MBps. |
Chief Mouse 10.09.2014 09:09 |
Well, you gotta check it again in such case :-) You might have set the TFF setting but the source is progressive anyway. Perhaps the program you used automatically deinterlaced it? Your DVDs like Hammersmith 79 are deinterlaced as well. |

This looks fantastic, as usual. I have one question, How is it possible for it to be so small?- only 1.61 GB. I'm not an expert on .mkv files, but this is fascinating. And another question, If i burn this into a DVD, will it look good on my TV screen? By good i mean, will it look like the DVD that was shared here before? Thanks again, and the audio isn't out of synch in my version. I've seen it with Media Player Classic, and it's all good. But i'm having trouble watching it with VLC. I think it's time for an upgrade. For those having trouble with out of synch audio, try opening with a different program. It usually works for me, when the video is good that is. |

^ Check the last few words that freddie speaks and confirm it is in sync. The length of the audio track supplied by PTR was slighty different so I cannot see how it would be. As there is no significant improvement video wise I would say the original mpeg would be the right choice for a dvd rather than re encoding the mkv back to mpeg again. The audio track needs to then be synced at each chapter. |

The audio is low because i've used the laptop microphone, but if you put the headphones on you will hear it fine. For the test i've used Windows Media Player because Media Player Classic wasn't working properly with the screen capture. For the screen capture i've used aTube Catcher. Here's the link: link I hope this helps. |

To MrQueenFan. VLC plays it fine to me, perhaps you need to update it. As for MKV, it's only a video container. For this you gotta thank the H.264 codec that has better quality even if the bitrate is 3X smaller than a standart DVD MPEG-2. If by burning you mean converting it to DVD video then it would look slightly worse. There is no point in doing that. Here's what I usually do if I want to view something on TV - get a laptop and connect it to the TV with HDMI or copy the video to external HD or flash drive and plug it into PS3 or TV if it supports MKV files. |

It's really fascinating how good MKV looks even in the conditions you've mentioned. Thanks for the tip on how to watch this on TV - no need to ruin DVD's :-) It's been a while since the last time i've updated my VLC player, so i think now is the right time to do it again. Thanks again. |
