Title pretty much says it all - I've synchronized the video with the radio broadcast audio for the ultimate Live Aid experience :) The audio is the stereo FM broadcast originally shared by Owen Smith and pitch-corrected by Ale Solan. I had to alter the pitch even further (half a semitone) for it to run at the same speed as the official audio mixes of Live Aid - and to match the video. Some video details: Video; 720x576 AVC H.264 6Mbit DOWNLOAD LINK 30fps https://mega.co.nz/#!lRsm2IqB!KRhaFi87ywSXL6zSmvPcxCAtHe2x4xFA9-cUx4sN_O0 25fps https://mega.co.nz/#!gYdCSSZb!In6ABuW8P-fVewwJ7hll-pVRJEFxsQ9B9qG7QA4KcZ0 Original thread with audio corrected by Ale Solan http://www.queenconcerts.com/queenzone/1351590.html Enjoy! For those wanting a preview, a slightly older and more rough mix can be seen here |

Thanks much for your work and the share here. Question: What program do you use for pitching the audio in order to make it match the video? I do my video editing on sony vegas and audio on Audacity/sony vegas. Kind regards, |

Did you forget to include ITTWWC? |

OK Sorry but I have to ask :-) 1) Why PAL resolution and NTSC framerate? 2) Why mp4? |

MP4 - that's just a personal - what's the English word for the opposite of preference? I learned to hate the format after some bad experiences in the past. I personally prefer mkv which is free, allows lossless audio (unlike mp4's AAC), chapters, multiple audio tracks etc. But that's just my personal preference. Thanks for the synchronization, I had something like that planned for a long time but never got to it. BTW could somebody reupload the lossless audio? I was pretty sure I have it but I don't :-( Thanks again |

Thanks a lot for sharing this Nitroboy. Downloading now. |

I'm downloading the 25fps version of this now. The more stuff people produce from the audio I originally uploaded the more glad I am I shared it. I still can't believe no-one else has an off air FM tape of it, I mean half the planet tuned in to listen (slight exaggeration). If anyone wants just the audio, I'm still seeding both my original share and Ale's corrected version. Since the Queenzone tracker is down, I've added more trackers for Ale's version (see the thread linked in the first posting of this thread for link, see my last posting on that for the extra trackers to add) and you can find mine through DHT or Peer Exchange (Ale created a Private torrent so no DHT or PEX). |
pittrek 09.08.2014 16:01 |
I have a full 16 hours long audio recording of Live Aid and an almost full video recording of BBC's Live Aid broadcast, so different versions DO exist. But I have a feeling yours is a bit better |

Having watched this now, the syncrhonisation works very well. And this is how I watched it on the day, the mono sound on the TV was muted and we were playing the FM stereo sound as well as recording it. Ah those were the days, when you could simulcast something and actually be certain they'd be in sync (impossible today with the various delays in digital systems). Thanks for this, it brought back memories. At least for this recording my mum didn't complain. When I recorded things off FM Sterero I used to turn the central heating off because if the boiler turned on there was a burst of interference which wrecked the recording. In winter the house could start to feel cold during recordings and my mum complained, but I usually persuaded her it mattered that the recording was good. I didn't do very many, only one or two per year so I think she just humoured me. |
OwenSmith 09.08.2014 20:23 |
It seems the Queenzone tracker is working again, so no need for extra trackers at the moment. |

If someone switched a heater on or off, it results in a clack/crack noise on recordings. |

Thanks! Very nicely done. What is the main differences from the official sound from the bluray? |
kevukuk 10.08.2014 12:20 |
Thanks for this one, gonna enjoy watching. |

ColMan wrote: Thanks! Very nicely done. What is the main differences from the official sound from the bluray? I think the biggest difference is that you can now properly hear Freddie, especially in the choruses of We Are The Champions. You can hear Spike Edney's synthesizer at work in Radio Ga Ga (and it sounds wonderful), Brian's guitar sound is much more raw compared to the official mixes. |

Thanks to Nitroboy for the synchronization, gracias a Ale Solan por la remasterización, and thanks to OwenSmith for the original and cold FM recording. ;) |

thanks for your work Nitroboy! is it me or I heard a few gaps between songs? I'll give it a listen again late nite and double check that, cheers ;) |

Ale Solan wrote: thanks for your work Nitroboy! is it me or I heard a few gaps between songs? The only gap I couldn't fix is the small one between Bohemian Rhapsody and Radio Ga Ga. |

Has any artwork been created for this new merge? I'm sure I've seen some but I suspect it was for an earlier Live Aid dvd. |

Although its not a dvd share I was thinking of burning a dvd of this to add to my live queen collection, I always take dvd's to work with me as I work at sea and its nice to sit in my cabin at the end of the day and watch a few concerts, it keeps me sane so if you get the chance to create some artwork I would really appreciate it, your artwork is always fantastic, thanks. |

I also did something similar with the Tokyo '85 (5/11) show, where I synchronized the WAY SUPERIOR radio broadcast to the video, but I don't know if I'm allowed to upload it and share it here? |

I recorded the live FM feed, everything was present. The video should be the same as the live TV, it's not as if the video broadcast on the day had bits chopped out of it for live broadcast which then were put back in for the DVD / Blu Ray. |
Nitroboy 17.08.2014 05:51 |
I don't know what to tell you, I think it occurred when splitting up the source file into the individual songs, because I've noticed these "gaps" on a lot of bootlegs. |

Nitroboy wrote: I don't know what to tell you, I think it occurred when splitting up the source file into the individual songs, because I've noticed these "gaps" on a lot of bootlegs.Maybe when you pitch corrected it to run at the same pitch as the official sources, you sped it up too much? It is possible to pitch change something without speeding it up, though a lot harder. Maybe the official audio did that? Personally I would have made the total duration of the audio exactly match the total duration of the video, that should sync exactly. But anyway, it's a nice video you created and I enjoyed watching it, for which I thank you. |

OwenSmith wrote:No, when I speed-pitched the songs I made sure it was so that the end result would match the speed of the official audio. The total durations are also not exactly the same, so simply dragging and dropping wouldn't have fixed it either. |
