There are loads of really terrific lyrics, especially from Innuendo, The Prophet's Song, My Fairy King, MOTHQ, but I have to say my favourite is 'I love you for your mind baby, give me your body' from Tear It Up. I know the lyrics are written by Brian, but they are just so cheeky Freddie... if you know what I mean. |

"My make-up may be flakin' but my smile... still stays on." Sooooooo Freddie. Healthy or... otherwise... still the same attitude. |

White Man "What is left of your dream? Just the words on your stone A man who learned how to teach, then forgot how to learn, Oh yeah!" I find this quite a powerful thought evoking statement. Always liked it. |

From Under Pressure, People On the Streets Under pressure that burns a building down Splits a family in two Puts people on streets Suggests that Freddie was aware of poor peope on the streets. |

Chief Mouse wrote: "I have no heart, I'm cold inside I have no real intent Save me Save me Save me I can't face this life alone" Why? I don't know. It touches me.Since my divorce... the next line of Save Me really does something to me: "I still believe the lie, I love you till I die" |
Wijnand 03.04.2014 03:27 |
Another one which is for me amazingly powerful: "The moment that you stepped into the room you took my breath away...." Such a great line, and sung with POWER, shivers... every time again... |

I like this one from The Hero: So you feel it's the end of the story Find it all pretty satisfactory Well I tell you my friend This might seem like the end But the continuation Is yours for the making (To me it means do not be self-satisfied.) |

Only one? Damn, there go my many choices... but I'll probably have to choose "You call me sweet like I'm some kind of cheese" from 'Sweet Lady' - classic Queen humour but it's also laced with true bitchiness underneath, considering the heavy tone of the song (musically and lyrically). Funny and oddly philosophical beside the other lyrics. |

Drowse - especially the last verse, I feel he's lying in his bed on a Sunday morning, thinking about life, and what to do that day. Never wanted to be the boy next door Always thought I'd be something more But it ain't easy for a smalltown boy It ain't easy at all Thinkin' it right, doin' it wrong It's easier from an armchair Waves of alternatives wash at my sleepiness Have my eggs poached for breakfast I guess...? |

Over the years I have noticed these lyrics used by some members as their signature which I find very amusing, and one highlighted by a member as very poetic which I agree: Waiting for the hammer to fall It is better to burn out than to fade away When you're feeling down and your resistance is low, light another cigarette and let yourself go A thin moon me in the smoke screen sky Where the beams of your love light chase Don't move don't speak don't feel no pain With the rain running down my face Your matches still light up the sky And many a tear lives on in my eye |

The Show Must Go ON I can't imagine more fitting/poignat lyrics for that music and concept. They create a very powerfull yet contradictory atmosphere that climates in a cathartic-electrifying way. The use of the "Anothers"- hero/mindless crime..." fits great with the repetitive sequense of the song as it starts to set the mood. The arise of various questions "Does anybody...? " works great as a strong/up-front connection with the listener. Then comes the CHORUS.The high audacity of it equals Force Of Nature ( =no meaning, just how life itself works) providing the only possible answer to the unanswerable question "To Be-or Not To Be?" that is more or less the theme of the verses. The "My make-up may be flaking-But my smile, still, stays on" line is so "Freddie in a nutshell" . It has a camp and heroic value combined. Personal favourite line " Outside the dawn is breaking- But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free". For me it stands for a death wish for the man that actually craves for some peace, free for his torment. |

Radio Ka Ka, Radio Blah Blah ... very apt at the time. But "My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies" has a special meaning for me. |

Holly2003 wrote: But "My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies" has a special meaning for me.The line that Holly quoted. And the following one. Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die. . . . But since Holly got there first I'm going with Let the fires take our bodies this night. Let the waters take our guilt in the tide. . . Just a great ending to BMs epic |

I'm not sure if I have one favorite, but a stand out for me is "My soul Is Painted like the wings of butterfly's, fairytales of yesterday, will grow and never die, I could fly my friends." |

Hi! Ev'ry time I hear this part, I remember how hard was to reach the top and it was not easy at all but finally you get it. "I’ve taken my bows And my curtain calls You brought me fame and fortune And everything that goes with it I thank you all But it’s been no bed of roses No pleasure cruise I consider it a challenge before The whole human race And I ain’t gonna lose" The rest all you know it perfectly. |

From Innuendo: "You can be anything you want to be Just turn yourself into anything you think that you could ever be" I don't know, really. The lyrics and the music combined sound great, and I think it's a positive message that says you can achieve anything you want if you try hard enough. |

Forget your singalongs and your lullabies, Surrender to the city of the fireflies, Dance with the devil in beat with the band, To hell with all of you hand in hand, But now it's time to be gone - forever....forever. Enchanting yet haunting. |

''If you're feeling kinda nothing - Don't try so hard When your problems seem like mountains You feel the need to find some answers You can leave them for another day Don't try so hard Oh what a beautiful world It's the simple life for me '' So many things they sing really speak to me, it is hard to find just one but I do love this song and the first time I ever heard it, I was in tears. So sweet and true. |
