THE QUEEN EXTRAVAGANZA ANNOUNCES EUROPEAN TOUR STARTING IN MAY THE OFFICIAL QUEEN TRIBUTE SHOW PRODUCED BY QUEEN DRUMMER ROGER TAYLOR CELEBRATES THE BAND’S GLORIOUS MUSIC & LIVE EXPERIENCE Following the resounding success of the recent UK and North American tours, The Queen Extravaganza will perform in select European cities starting in May 2014. The Queen Extravaganza is a spectacular touring concert show designed to take the glorious music and live experience of legendary rock band Queen and bring it to generations of fans. Two of Queen’s original band mates and songwriters— iconic drummer Roger Taylor and legendary guitarist Brian May—are the masterminds behind The Queen Extravaganza. “The Queen Extravaganza is a brand new show specially designed to enable new fans, together with fans of old, to celebrate the music of Queen in a heart-stopping event, says Taylor. “It’s very spectacular, it’s very visual, there are going to be some shocks and some tremendous surprises. It will be a rock celebration in the Royal tradition.” Taylor personally has taken on the role of producer with long time Queen keyboardist Spike Edney as global music director. Together Taylor and Edney have created the ultimate Queen concert experience in an electrifying road show, which celebrates the band’s music and legacy as performed by a new generation of musical talent. The Queen Extravaganza band includes musicians selected by Taylor in a unique online talent search that culminated with the group’s performance on American Idol in 2012. The band is: vocalist Marc Martel; guitarist Nick Radcliffe; drummer Tyler Warren; bassist Francois-Olivier Doyon; and keyboardist and musical director Brandon Ethridge. "This band is now so frighteningly good, I would hate to have to follow them on stage," explains Taylor. The 90-minute show features more than 20 Queen classics drawn from the band’s biggest hits: “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Under Pressure,” “We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions,” “A Kind of Magic,” “Radio Ga Ga,” “Somebody to Love,” and “Killer Queen” as well as other fan favorites. The production will be enhanced visually with rare video footage from Queen’s extensive archives and also newly-created imagery. '"This band is now so frighteningly good, I would hate to have to follow them on stage," explains Taylor' Roger; the only person in QE you haven't got an answer for is Martel. Just use him, and you won't have to worry about following anyone. I swear Brian and Roger are tied up in the most arbitrary illogic to be going the way they're going. |

SweetCaroline 13.03.2014 14:26 |
I saw QE in June of 2012 at a House of Blues in North America. They were awesome and I heartily recommend it to anyone who can attend. They had 4 singers in that show -- Marc, Jennifer Espinoza, Jeff Scott Soto and a fella from France (can't remember his name). I was worried how Adam was going to perform all of the songs that it took 4 singers to do when he went on tour with Brian and Roger in June-July, 2012. Now I see that Marc is also performing the songs himself. Should be great! Go! |

Anyone knows if Brian Gresh or Tristan will be back? I will miss those two really. I know i sounds stupid, but I dont like the idea of getting a bald stand in on guitar :P |
OwenSmith 13.03.2014 18:56 |
Marc is going to find it hard work doing all the lead vocals (excet Tyler Warren does a couple of numbers from the drums). Also I like Jennifer and how her voice harmonised with Marc, she has a low voice for a woman and was singing the lower part at least some of the time. Brian Gesh was good, no idea if the replacement will be as good but at least there is a replacement. I don't like the idea of the QE band shrinking. The point was to do the songs more like the albums, and with a band of 5 the same as Queen had (with Spike) that isn't going to be possible. |

SweetCaroline wrote: You're confusing me with someone else -- I have NEVER said that Adam is a better singer than Freddie, technical or otherwise! You never come right out and say it, but you sure imply it when (as I said in a previous post) you compare other people who sing Queen to AL instead of Freddie like AL is the standard to live up to. SweetCaroline wrote: And he did not sing ALL of the songs as Brian and Roger had solos as well as duets with each other.I didn't claim that you said that. I just disputed your comment about "how Adam was going to perform all of the songs that it took 4 singers to do." QE didn't use 4 singers because Queen songs are hard to sing. QE used 4 singers because their set list included Queen songs that have a lot of harmonies to sing. |
SweetCaroline 15.03.2014 17:16 |
I truly did not know that when I saw QE during their first tour in 2012. I thought it took 4 great singers to sing the various songs in that catalogue. They each brought their individual talents to the show and it was great. I certainly never meant that Adam is the ultimate standard for Queen and have consistently said that no one can and ever will REPLACE Freddie! But I never expected Adam to get ripped apart into tiny pieces in that forum. I hope if nothing else, this current venture will gain respect for everyone concerned. |

I'm, going to go out on a limb here and give my humble opinion. The real issue is the sheer amount of performances this upcoming tour has and the short time to do them. I am sitting here on my very old but fairly in shape fanny recovering from a broken femur suffered when I hit an unnleashed do on my bicycle (dog is ok, I now have a rod iin my leg). I a not yet "weight bearing" on this left leg. I went back to convince myself that Dr Brian's knee operation happened less than 8 weeks before the iheart gig. Ouch!! He musta been on major pain meds! Not only was he on that knee in Vegas, but he packed the Red Special while standing! Ow, ow, ow! Then in December the pain came home to him and he had the cancer scare. False scare but still pain, he went on to do the Russian tour with Kerry in March. Very good because they sat together very elegantly while Brian played the RS. I think in order to successfully pull off this upcoming tour, Adam may need to be up front and center and really flamboyant to take the camera off Brian who may need to sit for possibly the whole performance in each city. IOW, Adam may need to carry the attention much like Freddie did for so many years. I think he can do it and quite frankly, I don't care if his voice is 100% perfect, its the holistic effect that counts. The other issue for all of them is the quick change of extreme climate in these cities. Sickness sometimes happens when people go from hot to cold weather or conversely. I conclude with the fear that this tour may possibly tax the health and well being of Q+AL. |
