I think that "Time" is a very good song. It has real meaning - not like some of the shit in the charts today - and is trying to convey an important message in life. Not only this, but it is sung powerfully and emotionally. I also don't think the line you quoted is "tacky" - I think it fits quite well, because there are people out there who see that there are issues with this world (and also in their own lives) and who don't talk about it, or just pretend they didn't see it or hear about it. It's easier to do that, than to be pro-active in problem-solving, isn't it? Hence "we might as well be deaf and dumb, and blind...."
I like topics like this, especially when a random track is in question (not the same old over analysis of Bo Rhap!!), as it actually makes you think about the content, context and meaning.

Me too - we become so familiar with the songs that the actual lyrical meaning often goes unnoticed. Whislt some of the band's output (especially Freddie's) is not overly deep, some stuff takes on a new depth when you stop to really consider the lyrics. Somebody to Love and Save Me are two favourite examples of mine of this.
I think TIME is one of a huge number of Mercury or Queen songs...that comes alive with his voice.
Imagine some average skilled singer with a thin voice would try to sing that song - won't work for me. But Mercury owns it !
Time: long list under the radar!
I think 'In my Defence' from the same album is actually a better song, and is better suited to Freddie's vocal. Time is just a tad over sung (and the video is a bit heavy-handed for my taste
I seem to remember reading that the vocal for IMD is a first take; originally a guide vocal and much more impressive if that story's true...
Over sung? I don't think so. The message is a serious one and the song is melodic. Freddie appears to be enjoying doing the video a lot and...it almost looks and feels religious...lol. Added that for those of you who feel Freddie was a "god". That halo of lights towards the end of it. Inspirational. I like the little grin at 2:47 and all the Freddie movement.. It makes me feel good to watch it.
Speaking of...I wonder where all of those kids/people are now? Would be fun to hear of the experience of doing that little vid with Freddie.
Not a bad song, but nothing spectacular imo. It's okay. I don't think it's oversung at all. In fact, it's Freddie's vocal that saves the song from being very average.

Kinda agree
I think, on reflection, that it's just the ending of the song which is over sung
He did that a bit in the mid 80s; MR bad guy, TGIC, one year of love...
