Like a slow rewrite of Hijack My Heart. I like it, the soppy get. |

Roger Taylor has evolved into a wonderful composer and singer. I'm really impressed with the quality of this song. I'm looking forward to listen to the rest of the album. Great stuff, and thanks for the link. |

So, the song's new title for Fun On Earth is "Sunny Day"? Interesting. Sort of like Brian changing "Some Things That Glitter" to "I Loved A Butterfly." I wonder if radio stations were sent promos of just that one song, of the entire album, or of a selection of songs from it. Or is "Sunny Day" the 2nd single from the album? I guess we'l find out! Exciting times! |
splicksplack 20.09.2013 08:14 |
Oh gosh. That's bloody good. I'm grinning like when hearing a new Queen song back in the day. I feel a bit weird. |
dudeofqueen 20.09.2013 08:53 |
THAT is a little piece of fucking BRILLIANCE. The drums, again, sound stunning - that snare cracks and the cymbals shine. Great guitar solo too which crunches. Catchy hook lines in there. Sung by Robbie Williams that'd be a number 1 for certain; for Roger, probably a chart failure but I defy anyone who hears it to not want to hear it again. |
Khizzy 20.09.2013 08:59 |
Looking forward to hearing the song as soon as I get home tonight! So does this mean the tracklisting we've seen was incorrect? I don't remember seeing this on there! Just the song with its original title. |
A Word In Your Ear 20.09.2013 09:43 |
"In A heartbeat Now, do we realise, why Roger Taylor does reprise, a lot songs we know, not wonderful.....but a pain in the ass" Nah!!! only kidding, Bloody love the song!!!!! These new Roger releases are the best thing that has happened, Queen-wise, in a long long time....can't wait for November... |
Wiley 20.09.2013 10:22 |
Loved it! The intro has a ring to "A whiter shade of pale", but that is hardly a bad thing to say. |
Wiley 20.09.2013 10:39 |
Any idea as to who plays on it, other than Roger? Hopefully he'll go back to his "Fun in Space" days and plays most instruments himself. I love that about Fun in Space and it's a bit of a turn-off for me to hear Jason Falloon, Keith Prior or whoever toured with him back in the 90's. |

I think a little bit of wee came out when I heard that snare drum! |

Tune. Mr Taylor is like wine, the older the better. |

You are rattling them out tonight that's for sure! Anyone notice the 'pleasant and friendly vibe' here over the last few hours - certainly on some posts like this - inspired by Roger's new single and the excitement surrounding Fun on Earth and The Lot? If that teaches Brian and Roger anything then it's that they should release new stuff if only just to turn this place into a love-in and stop us all fighting for at least a few hours! :-) |
inu-liger 20.09.2013 14:15 |
That was great! Radically different from the original, for sure. The lyrics have more of a Roger Waters (on a happy day) kind of vibe now :-) |
The Real Wizard 20.09.2013 16:20 |
Wow, great track. It's got a bit of a psychedelic and Motown thing happening. I had no doubt Roger would deliver, but fuck me he's delivering. |
Wiley 20.09.2013 16:49 |
I really liked it. Funny how his lead single back in 1998 was a song about having the Pressure on, feeling and growing older, etc. He was 49. He's now 64 and the song sounds so fresh, joyful... happy. Also, If I'm not mistaken when the original Felix and Arty song came out he wasn't with Sarina. (although he had already split with Debbie, didn't he?). Maybe this prompted him to re-write the song with a different mood? |
Lord Gaga 20.09.2013 17:54 |
Roger and Sarina started dating in 2002, so I'd say a lot of his "love" songs since then were inspired by her. Also, I believe that sounds like Jeff Beck on guitar. |
Holly2003 20.09.2013 18:33 |
It's very average. Pleasant but hardly deserving of all the gushing praise above. Still, I'm looking forward to the album. |

Bohardy 21.09.2013 09:36 |
I'm with Holly. The song is utterly mediocre, which is to be expected. I'm amazed that so many of you seem to think it's something special. It absolutely isn't. I prefer the original which, whilst still not actually really being any good, was at least quirky and caught your attention. This version just washes over you in a wave of blandness. The melody's been lost and the song has no hook to it. And the less said about Roger's obsession with robo-background-vocals the better. |
. 21.09.2013 10:32 |
I do like this track but I have to agree with your comments on the backing vocals. It does spoil it a little for me. I guess I respect his choice though. It's been a long time coming (this track is a least seven years old) so I'm happy to wear my rose tinted lenses. Roger was always my favourite as far as solo work. I saw him live many times and I would make the effort again if he decides to tour in the future. |

Though I had no idea they allowed optimists on here. ;-) Totally kidding.... love it... I also noticed the striking resemblance to Whiter Shade Of Pale. It's almost as if he took the very best vocal gesture from WSOP and constructed a song from it, and it's brilliant! It made me so happy I listened to it like 4-5 times without a break, and that is entirely too rare for me lately!. I like the backing vocals a lot too. Someone mentioned having felt the same way with new Queen tunes. I'm right there with ya. Thrilling! |

I'm glad to hear Jason Falloon is still involved...I've always enjoyed his playing. Nothing flashy, but highly competent and pleasant sounding. |
tomchristie22 22.09.2013 08:08 |
Fuck yeah Roger! I must say I'm thrilled that he's coming out with new stuff, and of this quality. Not that I ever expected poor quality from him, I guess I've just been underwhelmed by Brian and Roger's recent activities as a collective. EDIT: His voice has really changed so little since the 70's - he might not be able to hit the crazy high notes anymore, but otherwise it sounds so similar, it's really great. |
Ron 22.09.2013 13:58 |
I guess that the track is ok. It sounds like a mixture of A Whiter Shade Of Pale and Everybody Hurts Sometime. He uses too many echoes during the song in my opinion though. Am wondering if there will be any physical singles. Dont think we will get any cd-singles and now that we know that Fun On Earth wont be released on vinyl, I doubt that any singles will be released on (limited) vinyl. |

tomchristie22 wrote: His voice has really changed so little since the 70'sI'd say it hasn't changed since 1966. That version of him singing I Got You at age 16 is such an interesting and revealing listen, as it's the exact same voice that'd sing I'm In Love With My Car and Foreign Sand. Some singers develop later in life, but it was all there when he was just a kid. |
Pingfah 23.09.2013 03:18 |
My friend is asking who plays the solo? He thinks it is Jeff Beck, which considering he is on a different song on the album seems possible. Anybody know? |

Ah thanks. I missed that post, but I specifically want to know who played the solo. GT, if you know, was it Roger or Jason?. |
Vali 23.09.2013 07:22 |
I'd dare to say that's Jason, no? |
cmsdrums 23.09.2013 13:51 |
It's clearly not Roger or Jeff Beck, so the money was always on it being Falloon, seeing as Roger has previously confirmed in interviews that he plays on the album. |
Pingfah 24.09.2013 03:07 |
I suppose you are probably both right yes. I think my friend was hoping Roger could play the guitar that well. |
August R. 09.10.2013 15:38 |
I really like it sound-wise - great guitars, drums, and Roger's voice is still the same. I also like that there's things happening in the background. If he can turn a crappy song like Woman You're so Beautiful into this, then I can't wait to hear the whole album. This sounds so much better than anything Queen-related in long while. So refreshing. With the Cosmos Rocks the singles were bad and I didn't expect much from the album. Brian and Kerry never did anything for me. But now I've heard two good songs (especially if the abridged version of The Unblinking Eye means that Roger has cut out some stylophone solos and other loose ends. It would raise that song in a whole new level). Never thought I'd be so excited about a Queen-related release again, but here I am, impatiently waiting for the album. |
