same here in england, LOADS of snow, its never snowed like it so early, usualy we get it like this in january, lets hope it snows on christmas so that for once we'll have a white christmas, dont remember a white christmas,
well, happy winter everyone, now we can all listen to "a winters tale" by Queen and sink into the winter mood

aye, probably after the worry of last year running out of grit, and since its around january ish it snows alot, they were probably worried, but aye its still bad of them to have not gritted properly >:-(
I'm in Copenhagen, and we have plenty of snow too, and it came unusually early!
I think this winter is going to go to history as one of the longest and coldest in a very long time.
12 car accidents on my way to work yesterday -_-
took me 2 hours (normally a 30 minute drive) to get to work. i love snow, but anything that has to do with cars sucks in the winter.

good job you're not driving around Scotland at the mo..
[driving being the operative word here]
I can handle winter and snow well. And most of the time I can somewhat handle the cr*ptastic public transport of Copenhagen. But put the two together, and that's a very simple recipe for driving me mad!
I got home 45 minutes later than normal from work today, all because of the winter and snow and public transport! Add working 10h shifts Tuesday and yesterday and 9.5h today and going to do another 9.5h tomorrow. And normally it takes me an hour one way to work.
Normally, I work 37h per week, but now work is extremely busy so after working over tomorrow, I'll have worked as many hours as if I had 6 day work weeks :O
The last thing I need now is the winter/snow and public transport combination!
I need weekend now!
Early ? Wow :-)
In my country we used to have snow from the end of October, till the beginning of March. During the last years the situation has changed drastically and there is almost no snow :-(
I LOVE snow and finally it's falling today :-)
i always make sure that ive got plenty of electric on my meter and food in the cupboards now because i got caught out by the weather back in february and was stuck indoors for nearly 2 weeks due to snow and ice and i wasnt falling [literally] for that again.
you've heard of "the back of beyond"? i live just beyond there.this village gets cut off when it snows...
I've got loads of food in.
But fortunately i've got loads of drink in too.So i'm happy lol.Gas bills and electricity bills paid too.
Just as well cos we're gonna get battered heavily next week with more bad weather apparently

WOW! I've grown up with snow every winter. Sometimes I wish I lived in a warmer place, but at the same time, it's something special about winter around Christmas time :) That being said, most years all we do is dreaming of a white Christmas. Murphy is having some fun changing the weather just before Christmas many years. It can be snowy all of December, only to melt away the days before Christmas!
more snow coming to Scotland on thursday and then the rest of the UK on Friday
maybe i should apply for the Scottish environment job or whatever it was that matey buggered up and got the cars stranded by not warning anyone with the last flurry north of the border?
-35 windchill this morning and some inconvenient snowdrifts here and there. But it's lovely and sunny now. Snow looks very pretty when it's sunny and cold. It actually glitters.
This year for the first time in my life I went to the Canaries during December and I must say: I love it. Looking at the horrible weather at home I enjoy the sun and the warmth. I'll be back for Christmas which leaves 3 more winter months - more than enough for my liking :-)
^yes,i saw your comments on Saturns facebook page regarding Tenerife,no,not jealous at all of you sitting on a sundrenched beach whilst i was freezing my nuts off in Joxer Towers ;-p
I think that part of the problem with winter in quasi-temperate places like many places in Europe is that winter is just wintery enough to be annoying and not wintery enough to be fun. Even in Southern Ontario, Canada (parts of which are at a similar latitude to northern California) it just mostly gets cold and slushy and intermittently unpleasant. At more northern latitudes the snow and cold arrives and stays and you can build a fun lifestyle around it. Though it can sometimes get too bitter to do anything but stay inside, winter is generally a great season when the infrastructure is there to support it. It's definitely a point of cultural bonding for many Canadians who are otherwise strangers to each other - it provides a sense of common experience and a shared triumph of sorts over comparatively tough conditions.
