I have seen various postings saying that it wasnt queens best concert and so on but i personally think they are very good, fair enough Freddie's voice cracks a little bit but he still performs pretty well as do the others You can tell on the dvd though where the overdubbing has been done on certain songs I like all the extra stuff on disk 2 though |
mike hunt 20.01.2010 11:26 |
the first show from queen that i saw, it holds a special place for me. wembley has a larger than life feel, but After watching their earlier shows like the early 80's, and way back to the 1974 to 1977 gigs I realized that the 86 concert wasn't close to their best. Still a good show, and a great dvd with all the extra stuff on disc 2. |
Gregsynth 20.01.2010 12:18 |
If we're talking about the record DVD's, then the Montreal one is the best. Bootlegs? Newcastle 1979, Hammersmith, 1979, Oakland 1980, and a few of the european Hot Space gigs! |
Gregsynth 20.01.2010 12:20 |
Back on topic, I think Wembley is a very good show. Even though Freddie's voice was quite hoarse (and did those overdubs), and Brian's nerves manifested themselves a couple times, I think it's great! |
Bo Rhap 20.01.2010 17:05 |
Wembley 86 was good.Knebworth 86 was better. But Glasgow late 74 was best.Just my opinion. |
PauloPanucci 20.01.2010 17:15 |
although a lot of people say that was not a good show, i liked Wembley |
fmarsong 20.01.2010 17:34 |
the wembley was great..all concert of Queen were great and will always love it |
EnglanE 20.01.2010 19:22 |
I absolutely LOVE the Wembley show, it's one of my favourites! 'Freddie Cam' is fucking awesome too, haha. ;) |
Back2TheLight 21.01.2010 03:31 |
I think Budapest was a better performace over all...how many agree? |
plumrach 21.01.2010 03:41 |
i have only seen little clips of the budapest show on youtube if it ever comes out on dvd i would get it as i like things like that already got the wembley, montreal and live at the bowl dvd's all of which are great |
FlorianS 21.01.2010 07:14 |
For the sound and especially Freddies voice I would prefer my old Budapest VHS. But Wembley has the better crowd. Freddies voice seems to be better on many magic shows which are available on bootleg as it has been at Wembley. |
brENsKi 21.01.2010 13:32 |
wembley was a good show - the setlist was a greatest hits approach, but the performance was not A+, maybe by queen's standards a B-. Knebworth was awesome. a definite A+ |
mike hunt 21.01.2010 13:41 |
It's a shame that last show will never get released. I agree with the b+ rating. |
brENsKi 21.01.2010 17:26 |
yes it is. obviously Queen should see the significance now of Freddie's last stand. I was at Wembley (saturday) and Knebworth and (if i'd only been to wembley i'd have been delighted) but having been to both the difference between the two makes you see (with Knebworth) how brilliant they could be live. i think there was almost a feeling of "right this is the last gig, let's go out with a bang"....blinding it's a shame that queen couldn't release a dvd boxset "queen thru the years" four gigs showing the progression of the band.... hammy 75, earls court 77, argentina 81 and knebworth 86 |
EnglanE 21.01.2010 20:25 |
Why won't they release the Knebworth gig on DVD? There is an obvious HUGE market for it! Maybe they're waiting until the 20th Anniversary of Freddie's death, or something? I really like the Budapest gig, (I wish there was more of their 'behind the scenes' stuff, though!) but the audience/audience participation was much better at Wembley! In relation to the topic of this thread, I am interested to know who supported Queen on the 'Magic' tour, particularly the Wembley shows?? Was it *gulp* Status Quo? |
plumrach 22.01.2010 03:30 |
I also like that their is a few funny moments during the show as well namely when roger started another bites the dust before freddie was ready |

Was it *gulp* Status Quo? wembley - the Alarm, INXS, and Status quo. all were good. was first time i saw INXS and they were bright and fresh and new think they were promoting their "listen like thieves" album (also saw them on their kick tour after they took off). The alram were fun - lots of anthem stuff...68 guns, where were you hiding etc. and as you ask about quo.....i'd seen them three times before that gig...always a little dull....but on this occasion...they came on in a rainstorm and just made the stadium bounce...i am sure wembley was about 400yrd further down the road when they finished their set an hour later.....quality support band knebworth - belouis some, big country status quo. day started great - traffic james on motorway with waterfights in the queues as people left thei cars and threw "water bombs" in plastic bottles, cups through car windows and sun roofs...at least it made the time pass till we left the motorway. don't remember belouis some...think we were still parking half a mile away at that point. big country were much like the alarm - all anthem stuff,( and both were good choices for getting the crowd singalongs)....status quo again were good - but did a shorter set - due to having to fly to holland or somewhere to try and set some record for number of gigs in a day or something |

Also i was wondering why Brian did not sing the 1st bit of Who wants to live forever like he did in the video? Freddie does it very well though |

This concert is brilliant |
BradJarre 28.01.2010 08:34 |
As far as Wembley is i think it is a great show and offcourse the vocals from Freddie are realy great(Mind The Overdubs) but i think that they should release budapest on DVD/Blu-Ray |
plumrach 02.02.2010 04:59 |
Also i liked Freddie's funny little walk he did during Radio Gaga In fact i just loved every part of the show Its something that i can watch again and again without getting bored _________________________________________________________________________________ An Interview? Oh don't be ridiculous |
Unblinking Eye 02.02.2010 05:19 |
I just love it. Yes I know that Freds voice was not at its best, but it was amazing. I just love it. I watched it about 6 times in the past 3 days lol XD. They all performed brilliantly. Wow is all I can say. |
dragon-fly 02.02.2010 12:29 |
Probably not the same good as famous but still it's a joy to watch it sometimes. The jam is my fav part. :) |
pittrek 02.02.2010 12:58 |
To be honest, there were much better gigs on the Magic Tour. Like Mannheim, Budapest, Knebworth Park ... |
Unblinking Eye 02.02.2010 15:20 |
I wasn't alive then. :( I do watch some on you tube though, and I agree, but I can never see the full gigs |
freddiefan91 05.02.2010 06:14 |
Just go to amazon they probably have it there |
Unblinking Eye 05.02.2010 18:16 |
Really?? Awesome!! Thanx!! |
plumrach 08.02.2010 02:35 |
Freddie gets a little bit choked up when singing love of my life _________________________________________________________________________________ An Interview? Oh don't be ridiculous |
LucTonnerre 08.02.2010 05:17 |
I just can't listen to Wembley at all. Freddie's voice is really bad, can't hit any of the high notes.Setlist is not my cup of tea either. Never was a fan of these "medleys".Live at wembley is the only Queen record I don't own. You just can't beat Queen in the NOTW/Jazz era. Absolutely brilliant performances and Freddie's voice was at its peak. Just my opinion. |
plumrach 08.02.2010 06:48 |
Freddie's voice is a a bit croaky at times but he still gives a great performance __________________________________________________________________________________________ An Interview? Oh don't be ridiculous |
