This DVD is the result of an international co-operation. I filmed the first half of the Vienna show with my Pentax Optio photocamera from the front row - stage left, in front of Brian May. Unfortunately the sound was practically unlistenable, which is why several months ago I contacted Mr. Scully and he graciously sent me the audio recording he had made of the same show. At the same time I contacted several people from YouTube who had also filmed parts of the concert and they too sent me their original, uncompressed videos. A couple of weeks ago I finally got around to editing and overdubbing the recordings and here is the result. Sadly I didn't have enough material for the complete concert, but hopefully more people will share their videos and I may just give it another go. Here is the tracklisting: -=main video=- Intro: Cosmos Rockin' Surf's Up... School's Out Hammer To Fall (fast version) Tie Your Mother Down Fat Bottomed Girls Another One Bites The Dust I Want It All I Want To Break Free C-lebrity Surf's Up... School's Out Seagull Blue Danube Waltz Love Of My Life '39 Bass solo Drum Solo I'm In Love With My Car (cut) -=bonus tracks=- I Want It All (different angle) '39 (different angle) A Kind of Magic Bijou/Last Horizon Last Horizon (different angle)/Radio Ga Ga We Believe We Will Rock You (cut) We Are the Champions (gallery) God Save the Queen (gallery) The total runtime of the DVD is 1 hour 44 minutes. It was edited using Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0. Many thanks to Mr. Scully for his brilliant audio recording, as well as the other filmers, without whom we wouldn't have this record of an incredible concert! Enjoy the show and please seed! :) V. |

Thanks for all your hard work in putting this together. It's just a shame that having Martin's audio source, you decided to completely fade out "I'm In Love With" instead of fading out the video and leaving the audio running :( |

Besides, the audio is available now, so I don't see what the problem is. V. |
pittrek 14.09.2009 08:51 |
I think I got a cellphone recording of Car, I'll check it. Well definitely I have slightly better audio than Martin :) |
Mr. Scully 14.09.2009 09:46 |
Yep, in the meantime a slightly better audio appeared on the bootleg market but I have a feeling Vlad didn't want to do this mammoth task again from the scratch :-) This is a start (and a nice international collaboration). I'm sure there must be some Vienna videos "out there", maybe somebody will be kind enough to share a complete and better recording. |
bigV 14.09.2009 09:53 |
If more videos show up I might be persuaded to do it again. I'm already thinking of two audio streams - one with Martin's recording and another with the better audio... V. |
pittrek 14.09.2009 10:44 |
I've got a question. I just finished downloading so I'm watching it now very briefly (cca 1 minute of every chapter) and I'd like to ask you if you have used some filters on the video. It's blurry. REALLY blurry (or blurred ? Feel free to correct me). Looks like some noise reduction filter was used to remove something (blocks / squares), am I right or do the original videos look like this ? It looks pretty unnatural. Still of course THANK YOU very much, it was the first Queen-related concert I visited, so I'm really glad to see it all again :) |
bigV 14.09.2009 11:26 |
Nope, no filters and no compression and no filters. The reason for the blurriness, I would imagine, is that as I said, I filmed this with a photocamera (as opposed to a videocamera). As for the other filmers, I am not aware what they used (except for the guy who filmed Last Horizon/Radio Ga Ga - my friend Nick, who used a professional Sony photocamera). However there may be some compression done automatically by Adobe Premiere to fit the video on a single DVD disc. V. |

Besides, the audio is available now, so I don't see what the problem is. Well. Halfway through a song the video cuts out (fair enough, that's all there was), but regardless of whether the audio is available seperately or not, the fact that you'd dubbed the audio from the seperate source in the first place means that there was no reason it couldn't have continued for the remainder of the song, whether the screen is black or you did a gallery of photos like you have for the last couple of tracks on the disc. You know. You've pulled out all the stops to create the show from as many sources as you could get hold of and then you fade a song out that didn't need to be faded. Just seems barmy to me to make a gorgeous cake and then not put icing on it! You did ask for comments and I was being constructive not critical :) |
The Real Wizard 14.09.2009 13:38 |
bigV wrote: However there may be some compression done automatically by Adobe Premiere to fit the video on a single DVD disc. There's the answer. In best quality, one DVD-R should hold no more than 60 minutes of footage. 61 to 120 minutes on one disc will be half the quality. |
bigV 14.09.2009 13:42 |
I asked for that, didn't I? :-D Thinking back I can't remember whether I didn't think of adding a gallery or I was just lazy. Fading out the song must've seemed like the only logical thing to do. Still, be sure to download Mr. Scully's recording. It's worth the Rapidshare wait. V. |

Apologies to all, but Windows crashed on me last night and I had to stop seeding at least until I can reinstall. I hope there are enough seeds to keep the torrent alive. Just before my computer crashed I had uploaded about 51 GB. Again, I apologize. V. |
Mr. Scully 15.09.2009 09:16 |
I already promised to Vlad I'll lend him my photo camera next time Queen set on tour :-) Nowadays most photo cameras can shoot really nice sharp video footage (yes, the picture quality is surprisingly similar to video cameras - except for the sound) and the biggest problem is to find somebody who'd hold the camera above his head for two hours :-) I used my photo camera to record about 1-2 songs at 3-4 QPR gigs last year and the quality was very very nice and enjoyable; certainly better than any other photo camera footage I've seen on youtube. But unfortunately you cannot hold your camera steady for two hours when you're in the first row, can you? :-) |

But to tell you the truth, I'm thinking that for the next tour I'll probably stay in the seats. I'm getting old. Standing in line for 6 hours and then enduring another 3-4 hours in the hall (show included) is a game for the young... V. |

I'm still downloading this concert, but I want to THANK YOU for the tremendous effort of getting all the "pieces"together,it's surely been hard work for some people, getting in touch, assembling the parts and generously sharing this material with all of us,Queen fans. It's much appreciated!! |
Mr. Scully 16.09.2009 06:21 |
bigV - I had a seating ticket once last year (Hannover I think) and it was a terrible experience. Yes, I could eat and go to the bathroom but those were the only advantages. I felt the concert was taking place somewhere far away from me. There's nothing better than STAND in the first row and ROCK! I can sit at a football match or in a theatre but a rock concert deserves standing, jumping, dancing and screaming :-) |

...and getting in the face of Brian May LOL For some reason in Vienna the security guards told us that the band didn't like banners and flags and told us not to bring any into the auditorium. But I still sneaked my Bulgarian flag in and waved it right in front of Brian May during WATC. Waving your nation's flag while your favourite band is playing what is arguably their biggest anthem. No feeling like it in the world... V. |
