Hi there! Ihave been a Queen fan since 1974 and there has never been a better band and i love them to bits! However i think that the band are at a crossroad and are in danger of becoming just a greatest hits live band. Lots of bands have had to change their lineups over the years and as much as i love Freddie and i know that he can't be replaced,we need to evolve. What we need is a young singer/songwriter to join the band with fresh ideas along with a young bass player, who can also help out with the song writing side of things. We need to go back to being a four piece band again with four members who can all write some great fresh songs.During the last two tours the sound was very clutterd, we need the classic sound back.I am sure that this is best way foward and i think dear old Freddie would agree. Philip Storey.
Despite Roger Taylor's comments about touring next year, I have a feeling we've seen the end of Queen as both a studio and touring band. If Paul Rodgers no longer wants to work with them I can't see them 'starting over' again with a new singer. And even if they do, at least Q+PR had some artistic validity (no matter how poorly the cd sold). Without Rodgers the Queen+ brand would soon become a ridiculous karaoke act. How many lead singers can a band have and still maintain credibility?
It wouldnt become karaoke if they got rid of the damn Queen label! Brian and Roger can form a group by themselves and mooch off the Queen name. That what I think.
I agree that I don't see anymore tours with Roger and Brian on their own - if they felt happy with that they would have done it years ago. Don't get me wrong - I'd love it to happen but it seems unlikely. I also doubt that they will go out with another singer - it will be Paul or nothing which may explain why there is not comment from the Queen camp about Pauls comments that he is unlikely to do it again. Maybe they want him to change his mind,

that sums up the situation perfectly. great post. I've been saying the same thing
if we all of a sudden have Queen + someone else it turns into a karaoke act
