The little boy has problems with perceiving reality and notices that something is badly wrong with him. Why the dentist drugged him so heavily and let him leave the practice in this state is a mystery as is the father who thinks it's important to film his child before driving him home.
That's about how messed up my mom was when I took her home after having a tooth pulled. ;-) I had to help her in the house, and she was saying all kind of crazy stuff. The next time I talked to her, she had no recollection of any of it.
theres no way im going to a dentist with this ulcer/abcess now.
if im gonna be tripping my tits its gonna cost me £2 a tab from the pub like it usually does and not £67 in some quacks surgery!

Oh yes you are. You are lucky the antibiotics took care of this the first time. If it flares back up, they might not since the infection will have developed a resistance. And the last thing you need is for the infection to spread farther than it has (for instance, into your bloodstream). You think it's expensive going to the dentist? Just wait until that happens and you wind up in the ER with a major blood infection.
Besides, I'll bet you're awesome fun if you were like that!
That being said...it's not uncommon to leave the dentist like that after major dental work. Considering the kid had his father with him, I'm not surprised that the dentist let him leave. The dentist would never let anyone leave alone if they were still that tripped out. I'm more disturbed by the father who felt he had to videotape the experience.
^ if i end up in ER the treatment's FREE,if i go to the dentist its £67 just for him to poke a torch in my gob before any work,so i shall wait until my jaw is hanging off before i part with that amount!
anyhows, the drugs have done their bit and im now back to being the ruggedly handsome modest human being i was 2 weeks ago
£67 would be a cheap dental visit here...:-P Speaking of the ER, my 2 year old nephew went last year, because he tripped and hit his head on my mom's fireplace bricks. He had a huge knot on his head, so we took him just to be safe. After we waited for an hour or so, he was looked at for 5 minutes. He received no medicine...not even a band-aid... The bill? Over $400. :-I

ive only got to wait until April the 1st and then theres a free NHS dentist opening in Helston [the nearest town to me]
.when it comes to being 'tight' that ducks arse has got nothing on me
I need to go to the dentist. I've been putting it off for ages, cause I dread the bill. After the X-rays, cleaning, and fillings, I'm sure it will be $300 or $400. We have dental insurance, but it only pays about a quarter of the bill.
Ah...couple of years ago, I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed....my mom left me home alone with my brother while she went to go fill my oxy perscription...while I was drugged up and the anaesthesia was wearing off, he tried to convince me that I was hit by a car and almost died. I went from laughing to crying to laughing and crying some more.
This guy calls himself a father ? Filming his son in this "status" and putting the video online so the whole world can laugh at him ? Well I wouldn't want such a father

What in all the world do dentists in the USA drug their patients with? Here you get a strong pain killer shot and that is it. I have never seen anybody halluzinating after a tooth was pulled or even after long and complicated root treatment. If the patient halluzinated the dentist would certainly not be allowed to let the patient leave the practice in this state. The patient would have to be supervised by the dentist in charge until all side effects are gone.
In the case of little David: Isn't it also totally irresponsible behaviour of the father to film the son instead of taking him home asap making sure that the boy is not frightened even more? Not to mention exposing a helpless child to an internet community which can be very cruel and heartless.
Barb,
in the US, when you get major dental work like that, you generally get gas. Especially if it's a major pull that they need to cut the gums open to get the tooth out. They'll give you a general in gas form, and save the pain killer shots for after they are done.
It's not that you are hallucinating when you get that--it's just being REALLY tired. Of course the gas does effect everyone differently. When I had it I just slept for close to 20 hours.
I need to get an embedded wisdom tooth removed. I'm less worried about the procedure and more worried about what I will say and do after it's done. If my mom takes me home, she will be laughing her ass off, I'm sure. It's only fair, though. I laughed at her. ;-)

I remember I was so worried about getting my wisdom teeth removed because I never had any kind of procedure done before that required me getting knocked out....I hardly slept the night before freaking out.
But my mom told me once I was finished, stumbling back to the car with her I exclaimed (with a mouthful of gauz), "That was fun! I want to do it again!"
