First, happy new year to everyone. So what can we realistically expect from Queen productions in 2009? I know we can look forward to the Q+PR Ukraine live DVD (and CD) and possibly one of the South American shows on DVD as well (though I can't imagine it getting it's own release but perhaps as a double disc with the Ukraine show or maybe "highlights" of it on a bonus disc.) Beyond that, I have no clue. Assuming the first volume sold well enough, "The Singles Collection 2" will likely hit stores. I know most of us couldn't give a crap about the first box but keep in mind "A Human Body" will finally make it's CD debut with volume 2 so that's.....something I guess. It doesn't take a genius to safely say there won't be any anthology box sets this year unless Q+PR officially call it quits and Brian/Roger finally say Queen is finished. I'd also think "Video Hits 3" isn't terribly likely either but if there's nothing Q+PR related on the books for the '09 holiday season, it might happen. However it'd be more likely they'd release a re-vamped "Greatest Hits III" CD (dropping Wyclef and some solo tracks in favor of the two Q+PR singles. Don't laugh, I'll bet the thought has crossed Jim Beach's mind!) Freddie's solo material has been effectively milked by now so we can forget that unless some deal is made with Michael Jackson has been made and we see an official release of the tracks Freddie recorded with him. However a sex tape of Jackson with a women being leaked onto the internet would be more believeable at this point. No "new" solo material from Brian or Roger of course but their catalog has yet to be mined so who knows? |

Not that it's wanted at the expense of other stuff, but the Budapest show on DVD will be out at some point, maybe as early as 2009? |
pittrek 01.01.2009 05:40 |
Shouldn't the boxsets be released in 2009 ? |

Any news about JRD will be okay. |

I think they will release a new DVD - Live in Canada or something (they are running out of titles for that concert I suppose). |
Darren1977 01.01.2009 11:57 |
Surely a couple of dvds and maybe an announcement for the box set with a release set for 2010. Who knows, let's ask Greg |

Marcos Napier wrote: I think they will release a new DVD - Live in Canada or something (they are running out of titles for that concert I suppose). Well, here are a few examples: Milking The Cash Cow in Canada (love alliterations) Rocking Montreal...Again! Queen vs. Financial Crisis in Montreal. Of course, all three releases will be single discs in a cheap FLEXBOX package. Artwork will be done by Richard a.k.a. "Magic Hands" Gray. Ah yes, can't wait. |
Marcos Napier 01.01.2009 12:07 |
I heard they will release a best of GH cd too. Or you can just buy all the 3 in a brand new boxset. And TCR will be re-released with the cover art in a stereo picture, so you'll have to buy 2 albums to get the effect. |
Darren1977 01.01.2009 13:30 |
Very good Marcus!!!. Send that idea over to Mr. May at the Soapbox if you can get through to his Majesty. |
vadenuez 01.01.2009 13:37 |
We'll get the Singles Boxset Vol. 2 but 'A Human Body' won't be released along with the set because QPL will decide to include the 'Play The Game' indonesian single version featuring 'Killer Queen' as the b-side. Greg Brooks will come here and accuse us of being ungrateful moaners because despite we won't get AHB, we got benefitted by getting a lovely unavailable cover art for the single instead. |
Russian Headlong 01.01.2009 19:13 |
What about the Magic Years being released on DVD with a bonus DVD of post 86 stuff? Personally, I would like to see Freddie's 'She Blows Hot and Cold' released too, love that track! |

My wish list at this moment: -A CD with all the B-sides -Champions of the World (DVD) -Magic Years (DVD) -Live at the Rainbow 1974 (DVD) -GVH 3 |

I'm hoping for the following; 1 : a QPR dvd from the 08 tour. Ukraine with a bonus disc from south america 2: GVH III on dvd I think it's unlikely that we will get more than two releases |
Hutchence 03.01.2009 04:48 |
1.Cosmos Rocks Tour double CD/DVD 2.Singles Box Set Vol.2 3.maybe, just maybe an archive concert- Budapest 86' e.g. |

i agree with hutchence. singles colloection vol 2 and QPR cd/dvd are sure things. and i remember quite a while ago brian said that next Q dvd will be budapest '86 |

What I'd like to see: An official release of a 1970s concert such as Hyde Park, Earl's Court, Houston or Hammersmith. This would be a 2-disc set, featuring the dvd and a cd version of the concert, plus an extensive booklet featuring new pics, memorabilia, and notes from remaining band members. What I think we'll see: Budapest on DVD, with 'exclusive' content such as the mimed Montreux set. A QPR concert. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It depends what they think they can get away with. Usually Queen productions go for the "least possible work for biggest possible profit" formula, but having milked that cow almost dry, we may see something different in 2009, |
Queenfan213 03.01.2009 16:14 |
Wasn't the Montreux concert already on GVH2? |
Holly2003 03.01.2009 16:26 |
I have no idea, but it certainly sounds like the type of crap Queen would put as a bonus. |

But it fits Queen's criteria, as others have said. Most Queen fans already have it in acceptable quality, and it's from the same time period as an earlier released concert (Wembley). |

mmmm, yeah ... I remember Brian saying something about Budapest on DVD not too long ago on his site. We must accept the fact: it has everything Brian actually requires in terms of picture and sound quality for a live release. We all want 70's shows ... but after the re-re-re-re-re-re-release of Montreal; after the brilliant singles boxset ... after everything QPL knows we really want .... we'll have Budapest '86 as the gem QPL will present to us, the loyal fans. I wish I'm wrong and we'll have something interesting ..... no, I won't dare talking about the studio/live anthologies, but .... why not the complete BBC sessions? look, in certain aspects it would respect the "let's re-re-re-re-re-re-release our stuff" rule being followed by QPL in recent years, as we'd have the third release of sessions 1 and 3 after "Queen At The Beeb" and "Queen At The BBC". |

This is what I could find regarding Brian's comment about Budapest on DVD "I was thinking Wembley but I'm sure it was there at Budapest also .... we will soon be getting around to making more Queen Live DVD's, and Budapest is a great prospect . ... the camera work - by a bunch of Hungary's best cameramen, was absolutely superb. And we're not talking video here ... but 35mm film ...the best !!" So while he seems "up" on the idea, he in no way says it's definitely "the next DVD that will be released." |

I am hoping that 2009 brings us: 1) A Queen and Paul Rodgers tour in North America 2) News that Queen and Paul Rodgers are heading back into the studio to do more NEW songs....Now that Brian has completed his doctorate, he can spend more time crafting great guitar licks and solos 3) Releases of a Queen and Paul Rodgers DVD or 2 (Ukraine / South America) 4) News that a Box Set of rarities will come out in 2010 5) An Official DVD release of one 70s concert and one 80s concert (I'll be happy with any) 6) Queen songs included in ROCKBAND i.e. TYMD, BoRap, IWIA, C-lebrity (?) 7) I like the idea of another BBC sessions release...to complete the work from that era...maybe in #4 the rarities if not a standalone 8) Queen Rocks II (doubt this would happen though) 9) I really don't care about the single box sets....why should I? I have the material already.....why pay more just for packaging?!? but I suppose volume 2 will come out.... would rather have re-releases of each album featuring songs and alternative versions that didn't make the cut....and videos/concerts where possible 10) and of course good health and wellness for Queen, Paul Rodgers, and all of us.... |

Manuel Benes 05.01.2009 08:44 |
I think a Queen + Paul Rodgers live CD and DVD from the Kharkov-Show will be the only "new" thing 2009. But please - with more Bonus-Material as the ROTC-DVD - one live-Song extra - come on. Backstage, Interviews, Rehersals ..... the list is long!! Would also love to see a 70's concert in better version than the ones circulating here. But when they choose Budapest 86 as next Release the 70's-Concerts will have to wait. Sad thing. In my opinion a great quality is not always necessary. Earls Court 77 will never see the "official" light of day i think because of the great amount of black screentime between songs - not a standart for Queen Productions. Too bad. But i must say i don't mind the new Montreal Release - in BlueRay it has beaten todays Concerts as reference-Material for BlueRay-Concerts! Respect to the Restaurateurs!! |

You complain about the singles box sets having all the stuff you already own yet you hope for "Rocks II" which would have all the stuff you already own......ok then. I do agree with a 'Rock Band' or 'Guitar Hero' Queen expansion pack ala Aerosmith, AC/DC, etc. That'd be a great promo tool for the band. |

Re my previous post: RE: the re-releases of albums with alternative tracks that didn't make the cut...ideally it would be one cd i.e. News of The World....and then bonus material whether it be BBC sessions, unknown tracks recorded at the same time that didn't make it, extended versions (not the 12 inch mixes of the 80s but let the song play without the fadeout....)...even the Hollywood Queen 1 was okay for me...because it gave us Mad The Swine and a couple alternative mixes....I would be hoping for a cd worth of extras though...I liked the ANATO cd because it at least gave us videos etc although still wanted new music RE: Queen Rocks II - you caught me : ) you can see it was low down on my list.....I always hoped for a second but with more remixes of tracks....rocked up...or stripped down...i.e. I love the 7 inch version of One Vision (starts with the great Brian riff) which I have on vinyl but only seem to have the keyboard intro version on my cds....also felt that there were many other tracks - (ie Roger's songs) that didn't get on Rocks....... I am still pretty much against another compilation unless it has something new (remixes or different versions) or brings Queen to a new audience.....the Rocks compilation is a great idea for the rockers out there that don't necessary want to get into the other stuff (at first)....of course after hearing it,they are hooked..... |
