Who has some info about the setlist of the concert? |
Wiley 23.09.2008 16:14 |
Give it some time. The concert just started maybe 30 minutes ago or something. I hope they introduce a new song and a new "old" song, although the latter seems very unlikely :S. |
MrFunster 23.09.2008 16:22 |
it's almost half past ten in Belgium, the concert has finished now.... or it may be a very late kick off... |

it's funny ... this evening, while driving home from work, I had a complete listen of TCR (traffic jam ...GRRRR!!!) and some bits of the Berlin show and was trying to guess wich could be the next new song that would be played tonight in Antwerp (somehow I knew a new song would be played today) and, know what, I said to myself: Time To Shine ... mmmmm ... naaa! it's impossible, they'll never play this one ... :P |

Got me.....i wasn't there, but i like the setlist this way. BTW they should ask fan's fore some favorites (just 2 or 3 songs)!! |

Add one, drop one.. Surely they are testing what songs of the album works on-stage, and later on they will have the definitive set... I wont be surprised if after a couple of more shows they drop time to shine... and play Still burnin... or Call me. P. |

Hey I attended the Antwerp show yesterday and yes Time to Shine was played. For me it was a highlight, really fantastic to hear live. It sounded a bit dodgy though- Overall impression was that the boys didnt play the best show of the tour, i could feel some routine in it. That caused Paul to forget some lyrics (Radio Gaga) and Brian messing up some solo's, Radio Gaga again and the last solo of Bohemian Rhapsody. Also his guitar solo didnt went so smoothly. Not bad, no real mistakes but not something to remember. Bad Company is just a great song, loved to see Paul at the piano. Paul played all the piano during Time To Shine himself, really nice. It got the Queen feeling back to see the leadsinger play the piano. I am annoyed about the backing musicians. Jamie Moses is having a fake smile on his face all the time. Brian didnt smile at all. I think he wasnt in that great mood. Roger surprised me, he is much fitter than on the 2005 tour, the drum solo was great and overall good playing! |
rkrijger 24.09.2008 03:03 |
They did *not* play Headlong, nor It's Late. I was there. The second list posted here is right, as far as i can remember. It was quiet good. Although he is not as good as Freddie, PR did a good job. I enjoyed the show. |

- Time to shine was introduced, but they screwed up the first chorus. Paul started singing to early which caused a difference in rhythm. But in general: that song was awesome live! That is one difficult song to sing, and besides that one big error, Paul just nailed it! - They didn't drop just one song, but they dropped 3 songs: Warboys, Feel Like Making Love and A Kind Of Magic. Time To Shine was added. - The new songs were much tighter compared to the previous songs. C-Lebrity, Cosmos Rockin', Say It's Not True, Surf's Up...School's Out ... they were fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Have to agree, Brian didn't smile a lot. Brian seemed quite annoyed and not into it. He was brilliant on some solo's (Bijou, IWIA) but screwed up some others (BoRap, WWRY). It gave me the feeling that he didn't "prepare" himself for the tour sufficiently. - in addition, are there any existing recordings of Brian screwing up the WWRY solo? He did yesterday, which was pretty remarkable if you ask me! One would almost think it was the first time ever, hahaha! - Roger was outstanding, way better than in 2005. He played awesome! - Paul should learn more lyrics and look less on monitors ;-) .... This al sounds very critical, I know. But the overal feeling? A very good show!!! The whole format, the setlist, 90% of their 'playing'. I am so happy that I'm also attending Rotterdam. This is just one rocking band!!! |
Mr. Scully 24.09.2008 05:00 |
Roger was amazing yesterday... he seemed to be really happy. Overall the show was much better than in Berlin; better sound, better backing vocals and FINALLY! Roger managed to sing Say It's Not True without problems. Shame about the FUCKER who grabbed/stole the stage setlist that Pete was handing to me on my request :((( I made some KILLER photos, I hope to upload them when I return back from tour. Time To Shine was nice although the first line of the chorus was really fucked up. Warboys is a great track but idt didn't work well in Berlin, that's why it was dropped. Paul fucked up the words in Radio Ga Ga a bit once again but we forgive him :) He also seemed to forget the lyrics in WATC because it took him like 30 seconds before he got into the second verse. Gotta go... trip to Rome. |
Rien 24.09.2008 05:53 |
I've put some pics I made on my website. Great show and for me it's a solid band that's performing. I thought the sound was not that good, meaning Paul's voice was sometimes pushed away by the awesome guitar and drums. Mainly a technical matter I think. Great light show and at first I thought the videoscreen would draw the attention away from the music and the band too much, but that did not happen. The screen is awesome but main attention goes to the band of course. I really think they should delete I Want To Break Free from the setlist and add other Queen tracks. Again - great show! |

For musical perfectness you have to listen live to Dire Straits or The Eagles. I am not finding positive things, i think it was a great concert but since we are all more than the average fan we can have a talk about the details that make some shows interesting for us. All the elements are there, but they did not match (yet). They should have done some extra rehearsals... It took 5 songs to get the sound right. The echo reminded of the Amsterdam Arena. Roger was great, Paul more relaxed, more enjoying himself, more confident, than the Kharkiv show, Brian worked hard, did a great solo..... It was a good show, happy I was there, and looking forward to Rotterdam. |

I hope a recording shows up! I want to hear it again;-) Sound was really bad the first few songs. And it was very loud, louder than 2005. Brian was a bit inconsistent. Paul lacks charisma, his voice is great but I feel he did get higher in 2005 in some songs. Roger was the star of the night: I'm in love with my car was awesome, his drumming with great energy. Say it's not true was performed very well. Brian sang his bit very good too, as did Rog and Paul. A pity the show is shorter again. I wanted the Kharkov treatment but no luck for us ,I guess! And from where I sat, I could not see the big screen(I could never see the head of the person shown on the screen so I can't judge whether Brian smiled or not) |
Knute 24.09.2008 09:18 |
Two things seems to be apparent thus far. a) Paul is pacing himself to avoid a vocal chord blow out like in 2005. This is a smart strategy obviously, but the end result is that he's not going to go as balls out as in 2005. b) Brian didn't woodshed one bit before this tour. His fingers have still not got caught up to his brain. Before they hit the states in 2006, Brian was so motivated to make a good impression he woodshedded unlike he ever did before a tour and as a result his playing on the US tour was fantastic. No such thing here. Like most people I'm surprised at the number of bum notes he's hitting on this tour. Don't worry though. By the time they hit the UK, he'll be getting into that zone where his fingers will play what he wants. |

I prefer this strategy from Paul, as I think that even pacing himself to avoid the 2005 chord blow out he's gifted with an amazing voice. As per Brian ... yeah I agree too, but after watching/listening to Kharkov, Berlin, etc, I think he's doing much better in the beggining of this tour than in 2005; I remember seeing him at Brixton Academy and, in spite of the emotional feeling in the air, thinking "oh Brian, please you need more training!" |
justys2 24.09.2008 10:56 |
Ohh come on..Brian is really good. He makes some mistakes but not a lot..and he plays great...when I was listening to his solo in Berlin and standing so close in front of him...it was incredible. Last horizon, Bijou were just beautiful. There are no words to describe my feelings. Roger is great on drums..and Paul sings very well. What a great voice. For me the band gives great concerts... one of the best in the world. It's just my opinion...but I know that a lot of people feel the same...QPR is wonderful. |

You could notice because his voice was suffering slightly towards the end of the show. b) Brian didn't woodshed one bit before this tour. His fingers have still not got caught up to his brain. Preparation could be better though, in terms of learning the new song. Stying them out during soundchecks and later on in shows is not the way to go i think, although it keeps the setlist fresh. I'm glad i witnessed the premiere of 'time to shine' yesterday! But hey, mine's just an opinion just like everybody elses. |
justys2 24.09.2008 11:13 |
Yes I have to add that Paul really hits high notes and doesn't avoid them. Really he works hard like the rest of the band..it's my opinion everybody has his own but...don't say lies like "Paul avoids singing the high notes or Brian plays bad". I've seen the band live and didn't notice anything like this...so for me you didn't hear clearly:) I don't know...or you just want to tell people lies...small mistakes are normal and there's no band in the world which doesn't make them..they are humans...but really... Queen and Paul Rodgers plays great. And they look like they have a lot of fun on this tour..they smile a lot and you can see they have a great time on stage..and so does the audience..and that's wonderful. Thay still have magic and they can definately rock:) |

Yesterday I went with two friends of mine to the concert in Antwerpen. It was really fantastic and very loud haha ! We stood about four meters of the catwalk on the left side. We had a great view on Paul, Brian and Roger. It was really cool to see Roger doing the drumsolo so close, as I am a drummer myself. We had a great night and I think the setlist was a good mix between the old hits and the new songs from TCR. Good points: - I think Paul was really enjoying himself and seemed to have a good time. I think he sung very well and was really trying to get the audience into it. - Brian played very well. Especially Bijou sounded great ! - Roger was really on fire in Antwerpen. He was playing great, singing great, but he was also really entertaining. - It was nice to hear Time to Shine. For me this is the best song of the new album. Although there were some mistakes during the performance,it sounded very well. - Highlights for me were Tie your mother down, the drumsolo, the show must go on and radio gaga. Although radio gaga isn't a favorite of mine, the audience participation is wonderfull! I would really love to hear One Vision in the beginning. Surfs up...schools out is a great song to play live, it just is'n the right song to start with. I think the audience was a bit quiet in the beginning, but after Seagull and Love of my life there was a great atmosphere! We had a great night in Antwerpen. I also went to the Antwerpen gig in 2005 and they were great that night, but yesterday was even better. Looking forward to see them in Rotterday in about two weeks !!! Cheers !! |

I also attended the concert in Antwerp. All in all a very good performance. Indeed, Brian didn't smile a lot, but they all seemed to be in a relaxed mood. In my opinion, Brian's playing was better than three years ago :-) In the beginning the audience was very calm. Just gently applauding after each song. But gradually the audience became wilder ;-) Here's a movie I made of The Cosmos Rockin' ("Antwerp rockin' " in the last verse ;-) ). Taken from the front row at the right (in front of Brian's place): link Cheers, Tim |

I'm going to Glasgow and Newcastle. I'm sure too that they are just experimenting with the setlist to see which of the new songs work in live situ. I hope they keep Surfs Up included in the setlist but I would love them to go back to opening with One Vision. Maybe I'm just trying to relive 1986 I don't know but it I've always felt that One Vision is just the ultimate way to open a concert and since they have it its a shame not to use it. Anyway whatever they do I can't wait for Oct 11th. Delighted they've played Time to Shine, hopefully that one wll survive. I'm going to the Glasgow show with my wife and I can't help thinking she'll be a bit disappointed with the current setlist, no kind of magic, days of our lives etc. Shes not a big Queen fan just the greatest hits sort of thing. But I'm happy with the list although its a shame someone earlier was only joking about Its Late. |
