For my sins I am getting married next month and I still can't find a decent song for me and Mrs Shrek to make twats of ourselves to for the first dance. I was hoping to find one that would sum up my feelings for the other half but have yet to find a song called 'You rotten cow, you made my life a misery' ;-) Any (non Queen) song suggestions would be appreciated........ |

The bride dance is usually a waltz because most guests can dance it and join you. One option is Bryan Adams: "Have you really ever loved a woman?" but it's a bit difficult because of the tempo changes. It has the ideal lyrics, though. Even better is "Lady Lay Down" by Paul Anka , maybe Tom Jones version. It is easy to dance to and the lyrics fit the occasion. It's a slow waltz. Here is a copy with lyrics, I did not find one from Tom Jones. link One advice: practice with the song you choose when you are not a routine dancer. Have someone videotape it:) |

Take a Beatles song, for example, SOMETHING by George Harrison. Or Eric Clapton's You Are Beautiful Tonight. You should take a romantic song. And they lived happily ever after... |

Sinatra: The Way You Look Tonight or if you want to shake things up a bit Meat Loaf: Bat Out Of Hell I'd go with Sinatra. It's a classy move, a great song, and it would likely be unexpected, memorable, and very well received. Shrekster: Are you going to the first London o2 show? Or will you and the missus be busy getting married? If you two are going to the show, it would be fun to try to take another run at the meetup we planned at the Talbot before we were interrupted by those idiots back in July 2005. Lots of love and best wishes to you both. --Cindy |

Here and Now is the song by Luther Vandross I chose at my wedding. It's very long though so about half way through we asked the wedding party to join us on the dance floor then shortly after that we asked everyone to join, of course the DJ knew to announce this. link Everyone here uses Etta James, At Last. link I could only find Christina Aguilera singing it though on youtube |
