I'm just watching on TV... Oh my god. I can't believe it. I was supposed to be going to a RiD DJ set tonight, right where the fire is... A load of my friends are there. The Hawley Arms is on fire. My god. The market's up in flames. *in shock* Edit: My friends are all okay :) Might see if I have time tomorrow to check out the damage. |

Underground? And also, the Overground is totally fucked up there. The fire caught most of it. I don't know about the Underground though..... I would like to go there tomorrow or Monday. I need to check it out. I need to..... :

It's a miracle they actually managed to evacuate everybody from The Hawley before it when up in smoke, on a Saturday evening not only would it be packed, but everyone was blatantly off their face. Oh well, I'm not really too bothered about The Hawley, it's such a posey place. But the Lock... it's going to make me sad if there's lot's of damage :( |

I even bought stuff from that area today. Scaaaary. No more Market for quite sometime now. Yup.... Though the main thing is, that NO ONE is HURT nor DEAD. That's great. Looking at the pictures and video footage, I'm surprised everyones fine. They've been putting out that fire since 7:30pm and it's now 11:20pm here. Fire is still blazing a bit. :
Raf 09.02.2008 18:21 |
Girls, remember... It's not a person who's dying, it's a bunch of shops. They mean a lot to you two, but... They can, and very likely WILL be rebuilt. Camden attracts 300,000 people a WEEKEND, among them lots of celebs... I bet they'll hurry the fuck up and rebuild it as fast as possible. ;) Cheer up! :) |
Freya is quietly judging you. 09.02.2008 18:26 |
Camden has remained the same for years though, it's one of the most unique parts of London, there are no shops that you see everywhere else in London, like Topshop etc. it's all unique shops. I just hope they don't use this as an excuse to modernise it and make it a clone of everywhere else in London. |

Think I'm going to get me on the next train to London Paddington and make my way up to Camden. On a side note, I think this is all VERY suspicious. They've wanted to get rid of the stables market for ages. They managed to demolish a very small portion of it, but not the whole thing. I think it's all a bit strange, that just as they've managed to demolish a small part of it, that the rest of it just happens to go up in smoke. |

How was the Boosh signing? I hope you poked Fielding. I think I've just about got over the fire shock now. I'm hoping it'll all go back to normal soon. It's awful seeing one of my favourite 'hang outs' burning down on TV. I was in such shock. Just that image on the news of the Camden Lock rail bridge in flames... Whoa. ...I wonder if the Hawley has stopped smouldering now... It was still smoking yesterday. |

I forgot. I was in The old Camden at some point in the last few days and I took a couple of pictures of stuff. Pretty much all the burnt stuff has been demolished, regardez -link (Luckily there were no police this time telling me to fuck off.) I suppose the good (?) news is that they seem to be doing all they can to save The Hawley Arms, which I suppose is pretty awesome. Still looks a bit sad though - link Heh. The fire did a lot less damage than I previously thought. |
