Hey folks,
nearly every week we can find the 12" or 7" of Hammer To Fall in that very rare live sleeve.
The prices are mostly high (of course) but I wonder that so many people have that records and offer them for sale.
Does anybody know about fakes of this records and how they look like?
regards
W.
There are fakes of the sleeve because only very few copies were sold. The writing on the original sleeve is gold and not yellow as on many fakes. The genuine sleeve was folded with the edges being visible on the back side while many fakes have the edges hidden in the inside of the sleeve - I hope this makes sense. I read this on QOL a while ago.
Thank you for your reply.
So it seems to be not so difficult to identify the wrong sleeves.
Do the labels of the records differ from the ordinary releases?

this item was extensively bootlegged in 2001 in both 7" & 12" also on red and blue vinyl by someone in the midlands, but try telling these people who are cleaning up with them that they are bootleg sleeves, and they can guarentee they are real ! but seen as between 5-600 escaped the pressing plant in batches of 25 and only to woolworths and some minor record shops also emi recieved back 168 copies of the 12" and 62 7"s that means there is 350 odd copies floating around on both formats, i know this as my mum worked for the company 1979-1987 and she oversaw most returns at this time and most were destroyed
and yes i own a 12" no its not for sale and ive never seen a real 7" in the 20 odd yrs ive been collecting queen also there is meant to be a 7" from the us with the same cover and this is a definate b/leg as there r/date was after the uk so no live sleeves were printed for the single over there. so buyers beware look at the lettering if its not a matt gold colour offer a £10 note as a cheap substitute.

right!! and also the 12" has never been bootleged. this error in spelling the word cassette is a way to recognize the 7" fake also the "E" of Queen in the front sleeve seems to be with a different font style that the original.
These withdrawn records are rare but surely there are hundreds of copies around ... Another records which is increasing in vale is the withdrawn picture disc of No-One but you with different track list, prints on sleeve and record also has got a different cat number which ends with 26 instead of 27.. That is surely rarer than the Hammer live sleeve.
