Jason Bonham is not his dad, and Jimmy Page is STILL drunk. Here's the AP blurb: Associated Press LONDON - Led Zeppelin will perform a one-time comeback concert in memory of Ahmet Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic Records. The band will perform together for the first time in 19 years on Nov. 26, at London's The O2 venue, on the banks of the River Thames. Promoters said the concert would pay tribute to Ertegun -- the label boss who popularized Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin and Led Zeppelin -- who died in December at age 83. "During the Zeppelin years, Ahmet Ertegun was a major foundation of solidarity and accord," Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant said Wednesday. "For us he was Atlantic Records and remained a close friend and conspirator." Ertegun, who founded the Atlantic Records label, signed Plant's band in 1968 and later snapped up the Rolling Stones. Organizers said Led Zeppelin's remaining original members Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will headline the concert with late drummer John Bonham's son, Jason, on drums. |

Tickets are by ballot, but if you 'win' they cost £125. On ebay, easily over £1000 per ticket for the very best seats. |
Woodie 12.09.2007 13:34 |
heard it's a tribute to Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun also Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and Paulo Nutini seem to be on the bill and £125? *certain* band charged alot more for the same arena gig(s) guess its worth seeing, for the ones who can afford it, of course. (not me :P) |
Jjeroen 12.09.2007 15:58 |
Spicy price indeed... Well, we still got time to think about it. The website where you can sign in for the ballot collapsed a couple of hours after the announcement :-D A tour would be great. In the press conference though, they stressed it would be a one-off... Btw: Floyd's next! :-) A very reliable source of mine that does not take talking about this lightly, told me today that it looks like the reunion is one step closer. He said Gilmour's wife finally gave in! ;-) Good hope! |
Raf 12.09.2007 16:41 |
Yet another great reunion that I'm gonna miss because they won't get their asses anywhere near South America. >:( |

Anyone actually got through the pre-registration process yet? |
YourValentine 13.09.2007 02:33 |
I think it's impossible to pre-register within the next days, it's better to wait. I hope you can get two tickets, it's no fun to go to a concert alone. |

Jason Bonham can play well enough (he's guaranteed not to be as all-over-the-shop as Jimmy Page...) but I sure hope they don't stick him with the drum sound he had in that '88 show. TIN CAN DRUMS!! |

On the radio they said that 20 million people already registered for the ballot. No need to cancel any other plans you have for this day. |

YourValentine wrote: On the radio they said that 20 million people already registered for the ballot. No need to cancel any other plans you have for this day. That's correct. And they all registered BEFORE the website crashed! It went off the net yesterday afternoon and is still not back right now... This is insane! Undoubtly the hottest ticket ever! (I don't have a lot of hope that I need to book a ticket to London ;-) |
Penetration_Guru 13.09.2007 18:19 |
Keep trying the website, every now and then you get through. I've got 3 entries so far. which gives me a 1 in 667 chance at the moment |
Jeroen 14.09.2007 05:31 |
Yeah, I'm in too :-) Chance of 1 in 22 miljoen... pfff... ;-) |

I registered, too - just for the sake of it. Considering I did not even win a ticket in the Brixton Academy lottery I am not holding my breath:-) |

Nevertheless...! ;-) As for Zepp - I've got better hope of getting in there as press. *fingers crossed* |
YourValentine 14.09.2007 07:54 |
Yes, Jeroen - we both did not win but in the end we went, so maybe some day we get an email from this website begging us to buy the tickets that did not get allocated in the ballot ;) |
Jeroen 14.09.2007 08:17 |
...or just buy them on the night at the boxoffice! ;-) |

TIN CAN DRUMS!!Actually, that sound we all heard on the FM & HBO broadcast ws poorly mixed. I was listening to that performance live as it happened. God, what a great night that was! I had a band rehersal earlier that night, then my guitarist & I sat in his basement waiting til well after midnight for them to come on stage. It was such a monumental event. they wanted to redeem themselves after the Live Aid showing 3 years earlier. But later Jimmy said that the broadcast didn't trasmit the bass, keyboards or drums properly in the mix. Listen to Kashmir, theres hardly any keyboards audible in the broadcast. I'm sure inside MSG that night they sounded like thunder! The Power, Mystery & the Hammer of the Gods in all its glory! I really hope they pull it together & are in top form. I know Jason & Jonesy will be. I just hope Jimmy &Robert are as well. Here's to hopeing we get a 2 hour set which includes The Lemon Song, The Rain Song & Ten Years Gone! Do you think Robert will get off his high horse & sing Stairway? It's no secret he doesn't enjoy it a little bit. |

That's interesting... I had a feeling it must've been the TV people who screwed that one up!! I can't comment on whether or not Page will be any good, but Plant should be great. He's done some great shows lately; definitely redeeming what he did at the Freddie Tribute, anyway..... :P |

Most recetntly in 2005 w/ the Strange Sensation. He was good, but struggled w/ some of the Zep material. |
