You think Brian or Roger or John will go to one of the Prince shows during his extended stay? |
Mr.Jingles 23.08.2007 09:13 |
Was he wearing his high heels? It's hard to see Prince when he's not wearing high heels. |

Mr.Jingles wrote: Was he wearing his high heels? It's hard to see Prince when he's not wearing high heels.Which of the two are we talking about here? I know William is a bit of sort but I never had him down as a cross dresser. Harry on the otherhand is an entirely different basket of fruit. Probably got a whole wardrobe of his mother's old slingbacks tucked away, unless, of course, Charlie got there first. Mind you, by all reports Diana did have rather big feet and as the size of a mans foot is proportionate to the size of his trouser snake, Charlie might have had a problem stopping the shoes from falling off. For anyone who's mildly interested (of the femine kind I may add) I take a shoe size 12, so we're not so much talking a snake as a python. I scared the living daylights out of the young sort who measured my feet at the Clarks shoe outlet the other day, she nearly fainted. In fairness, so do I when I'm aroused. |

Ill be going over to see the Friday and Saturday show next week... I'm not interested in spotting any other celebrities over there, and that includes Brog. ;) |

Been to three and an aftershow, going to another four. No I didn't see Roger or Brian as that seems to be the point of the thread, not actually about the Prince concerts. |
YourValentine 24.08.2007 06:31 |
Hi eggy, I expected you to post here:) Did you happen to see England vs Germany on Wednesday? ... |

Actually, eggy, serious question - how severe is the security at the entrances? Is it just bag searches for cameras, or can I expect a thorough frisking of my person in search of my taping gear? |

All my equipment is known for its minute size... |
eggy 28.08.2007 05:32 |
Hi Barb! - Yeah, I've probably only looked here twice in the past few months but a Prince thread is always too much to resist. PG - first night they were really relaxed, but Prince must have had words and now its as stict as normal, strictly no camera's / recording equipment. They search all bags but I've not been frisked once so if it was in your back pocket I'd say you'd be fine. In the arena there is a security police going around looking for cameras etc. Only heard two bootlegs of the gigs (3rd and 4th) - neither are that good. Sound in the arena is not the best, but although the shows are quite short (circa 100 mins) they are pretty good. Went 1st, 7th, 14th and aftershow. Going tonight, then Sept 9th, 16th and 20th. Are you going on the 16th then PG? Hi Lisser! Happy birthday by the way!! As for the football - it's England, what else did I expect!! I shall be more worried about the games next month as they are proper qualifiers. |

I thought those two shows sounded ok (if a little distant) to be honest - also a little disappointed with the length of the set, but then the tickets are cheap... Apparently there's a tape of the 24th around too - I thought Prince fans were ardent tapers so expected loads, but apparently not. Hopefully I'll get something usable on the 16th (yes, there are four of us going) - will let you know, natch. |
eggy 29.08.2007 04:50 |
I was actaully dissapointed with last nights show. Played only 21.15 - 22.45 and that's including on off for encores etc. Was okay material but nothing imaginative. This tour is nowhere near the calibre of 2002 for me. I did notice metal detectors yesterday, but again, I just walked through the section that says no bags. Yeah, I've now got the bootleg for 24th. Not listened to it yet, but I think the quality is meant to be better than the 3rd/4th. I think 11th and 25th nights are just about to come into circulation also. Still non of the nights I was at mind! |
Penetration_Guru 29.08.2007 13:56 |
So metal detectors only used if you have a bag? useful to know |
eggy 30.08.2007 11:48 |
Have got the 11th now, Quality is pretty good. Hopefully 1st soon. Will be interesting to see what he does over the weekend. Must be time for something new. Am not particuarly enjoying Prince's double standards. One half of the show he is saying 'real music by real musicians', then in the encore he does synth samples and snippets of all the hits. It's annoying as hell to hear 10 seconds of Sign O' The Times, When Doves Cry, Erotic City etc etc. Play the whole bloody thing Prince! Do you use the royal hub PG? That's my source for material. |
Penetration_Guru 30.08.2007 13:27 |
No, I use the general torrent bootleg sites TTD, DaD, PLG I know I'm going to be frustrated at the hits I get snippets of, but I know there will be hits that he doesn't play at all, as with anybody one sees. |
eggy 31.08.2007 04:51 |
They are coming through thick at fast now. Have 1st and 7th plus 7th Aftershow. 14th Aftershow is there in snippets so might be in full by the time I get home. I just wished he'd play some surprises ala Bambi, Empty Room & Dolphin from 2002. The main shows are getting so bog standard. The aftershow the other day seemed more like it to me, wish I'd stayed around. Chaos and Disorder and a 60 min 3 man only Guitar set. Sounds awesome. |
Tero 04.09.2007 04:05 |
It's hardly a problem for the average concert goers if the set list remains "bog standard" as it is now... Very few people would be going to more than a couple of shows anyway, and when I was there a few days ago for the Fri and Sat shows there must have been more than 2.5 hours of material in that 3.5 hours of total showtime. That isn't anywhere near comparable to any other major artist who will do an identical setlist within each leg of their tours. |
Penetration_Guru 16.09.2007 21:05 |
Well, that was pretty good. At least, I enjoyed it...Adore, Most Beautiful Girl, Whole Lotta Love, the as-per-usual epic Purple Rain. What does the expert say....? |
Penetration_Guru 17.09.2007 18:27 |
OK, it's been downgraded to mp3 for filesize, but how's this? link |
eggy 18.09.2007 07:50 |
Will download and listen when I get home. Did you get the whole gig or just snippets? Sunday was enjoyable, probably not as good as the 9th when I saw it but was good and varied. He's been throwing in some surprises the last few things which is good. Adore on the 9th was the complete thing and was just awesome, really enjoyed I would Die 4 U and The One. Whole Lotta love is just awesome by Prince. There wasn't quite enough guitar on the 16th for me, I missed Shhh but was a highly enjoyable gig for sure. Didn't see the point of getting the fit girl on the stage, then not sing to her, but at least he didn't get half the front row on for 20 mins which he's done before. Will be a shame when this week is over and the Prince summer is also! |

eggy wrote: Will download and listen when I get home. Did you get the whole gig or just snippets?Every second. It's the best sounding recording I've ever had, so I'm well chuffed with it. |

Sounds good PG! Glad you got brave and recorded it! Are you going to upload it anywhere?! I know someone who'd like it very much!!! |
Tero 18.09.2007 14:46 |
There's also a nice video from the Aug 25th show around, and apparently there are going to be proper film crews for the final two shows... |
Penetration_Guru 18.09.2007 18:58 |
The Aug 25 DVD is a little jumpy (esp as it appears to be on a ledge AND could easily have been pointed at the screen), but the good bits do appear to be very good. eggy - if no better source comes up I'll upload it at some stage, but it will be a few weeks (splitting the tracks takes me ages and I've got a lot on at present). I'll let you know when it's ready - give us a shout if another source comes up in the meantime. |

Penetration_Guru wrote: The Aug 25 DVD is a little jumpy (esp as it appears to be on a ledge AND could easily have been pointed at the screen), but the good bits do appear to be very good.Yes, it could indeed have been a lot better as it seems to have been shot from one of the private boxes. I did wonder for a few times why the camera was pointing into nowhere, but it must because of an inexperienced (and excited) cameraman. Still, it's a nice thing to have if the official dvd never materialises... |
eggy 19.09.2007 07:08 |
Brian May on Sunday's show... link Also on brainmay.com is appears Official DVD's and Prince are always dodgy, check the Las Vegas DVD - an awesome 3 hour show is butchered into a dis-jointed 80 minute DVD. Please don't do that again Prince!! Plus there really aren't that many out there. I've not got many DVD boots as the size of downloading always puts me off and generally the quality is stinkingly bad! Any recommendations Tero? Fair play if you are busy PG - ASAP would be grand, always means more to have boots of the gigs you were at, will let you know if I see it around before you get chance to sort it out. I don't mind one stream, I can edit it to save you time! |

Any recommendations Tero?I have to admit I had much higher hopes with the Las Vegas dvd... I'm hoping that was due to not having a professional filming crew present, which is going to be corrected this time around. :/ How slow is your connection if a dvd sized-file is a problem? I have a 512kbit connection, and it's not a problem to leave the computer on for a day or two to download a complete new dvd from dimeadozen. ;) You have seen the screencaptures from the new dvd? link It's got a good quality for 80 minutes or so, and definitely worth looking at. In fact I don't remember many Prince shows from DaD which would have better picture quality, with the possible exception of NY 1981... In fact I think these are two only two bootleg dvds I've watched from start to finish. |
JoxerTheDeityPirate 21.09.2007 08:00 |
in case anyone is interested sky news in the UK are showing part of his show tonight [21st sept] between 8.30 and 9pm.aparantly there is a podcast via their web thingy too. |
eggy 24.09.2007 11:36 |
Also a nice clip from a show up on 3121.com These for your memories shows out are just awesome!! Getting most of them at the moment. My Broadband is 8 meg Tero, I've just never used Torrents. I use direct connect and it can be slow, depending on connections etc. I never get time to listen/ watch everything I have, but I am sure you know how it is! Shame the shows are over, cannot belive I was as stupid as not to get tickets for the last aftershow, went to the 20th one and all I got was some huge mama and some rubbish guy doing a beatbox - sods law and all! |
Tero 24.09.2007 13:30 |
I don't download THAT much myself... Just a few TV shows which would take years to get here, and the occasional Prince dvds. ;) I have to admit though, that I've downloaded about half of the FYM bootleg series by now. :P I doubt I'll be saving them all, but it's nice to at least hear all the concerts even though I didn't get to see them. I feel a bit silly myself because I flew over to London to see the two main shows, and had tickets to both of the aftershows, but I was just too exhausted to go to either of them after all the other sightseeing I did. :/ |
Penetration_Guru 05.10.2007 11:51 |
Another source of the 16th has now been released so it looks like I'm off the hook. Actually, for anyone that cares, all 21 nights (and 20 of 21 aftershows) are now "out there", which is pretty amazing so soon after the end of the run. |
Tero 05.10.2007 14:53 |
It's great to be able to hear the different performances, and those songs that weren't played when I was there... For someone like Prince it's worthwhile to collect several recordings of the same tour. For some artists it would be like listening to an identical tape night after night. :P Apparently there are at least three dvds doing the rounds as well... the Sep 9th and 13th, If I remember correctly. I haven't seen these myself, and I don't think I'm going to need more than the one video I already have. |
Penetration_Guru 06.10.2007 04:40 |
In some respects I hope it's not the 13th - I sold the tickets I had for that night and therefore missed Elton John - to have my nose rubbed in it anymore would not be my preference... |
Tero 06.10.2007 11:25 |
In that case You'd better not look at what's become available at dimeadozen this afternoon... |
