I recetly did a double Queen cd for my brother in law of 3 years. The only thing we had in common was that he was a T.Rex fan as teenager like me. Can't believe a T.Rex fan never progressed to Queen. Anyways. I sat down and thought about it for a while and came up with this as a good startin point for Queen + solo stuff. 1. BO RHAP 2. GREAT KING RAT 3. UNDER PRESSURE 4. KILLER QUEEN 5. CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE 6. LIAR 7. MARCH OF THE BLACK QUEEN 8. I WANT IT ALL 9. RADIO GAGA 10. DON’T STOP ME NOW 11. IN ONLY 7 DAYS 12. BACKCHAT 13. SCANDAL 14. BRIGHTON ROCK 15. IS THIS THE WORLD WE CREATED 16. PROPHETS SONG 17. THE FAIRY FELLERS MASTERSTROKE 18. INNUENDO 19. THE SHOW MUST GO ON 20. WE WILL ROCK YOU 21. SOMEBODY TO LOVE 22. BARCELONA 23. FUTURE MANAGEMENT 24. I WAS BORN TO LOVE YOU 25. DRIVEN BY YOU 26. SPREAD YOUR WINGS 27. MY MELANCHOLY BLUES 28. LAS PALABRAS DE AMOR 29. COOL CAT 30. MAN ON THE PROWL 31. I GO CRAZY 32. LoL, I noticed to get friends hooked on Queen you need to give 'em the catchy stuff first, and then they'll get the rest. They've already heard Another One Bites The Dust, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody, etc.... so there's no need to put them on. These are basically what I play to them, but I don't burn CD's for them.... I play these songs and/or some others, and then they love it, so I usually make them go out and buy Queen, or I'll sell them my extra albums or singles. 1. I Want It All 2. Headlong 3. Dancer 4. The Hitman 5. A Kind Of Magic (Highlander Version) 6. Radio GaGa 7. Tear It Up 8. Khashoggi's Ship 9. Hammer To Fall 10. Play The Game 11. I Want To Break Free 12. Put Out The Fire 13. One Vision 14. Scandal 15. Breakthru 16. I Was Born To Love You 17. Living On My Own 18. Don't Stop Me Now |

I looked over some of these lists and I don't think the likes of "The Hitman" "Dancer" "Man On The Prowl", etc isn't going to convert too many people to Queen fans......LoL |

Yeah... I've GOT to put stuff like We Will Rock You, ect. on there so that it won't be THAT weird of an experience for them. You've got to give them the poppy stuff, you can't just give them March of the Black Queen! |

I shouldn't even included Radio Ga Ga because it used to be on the classic rock station's commercial as like their 'anthem'.. haha. If people my age were more musically educated in this area instead of liking rap, or country, or Green Day which is basically what everyone likes around here, except for the reclusive people who like My Chemical Romance (which is a great band in my opinion), well, I'd hand them Queen II. But the way people are around here, for example people who enjoy rap, I'd play Hot Space to them and they'd really love it, think it's the best album they've heard by a rock band. And like I said, once they hear this stuff, they'll want to know more about Queen. One of my friends who is a country music fanatic, has Freddie Mercury's 'TIME' in his music profile, for everyone to listen to. |

Don't play The Hitman or Man On The Prowl to any female friends.... they just won't enjoy it. Bring out Dancer or a lot of things on Hot Space, like Body Language, and you wouldn't believe the action you can get, because they finally understand SOMETHING you like, instead of saying "You like rap? Oh I like 50 cent, he's so hot!" and then you play Hot Space, and their like "Holy Shit!" In my area, country and rap is the top music scene here... BUT, there's a small bit of hard rock, metal.... and a bit of Green Day too. I've had a couple people who sing in local bands over to my house and they were blown away with Freddie's vocals on The Hitman and a ton of other stuff he did, included earlier songs. |

Playing March Of The Black Queen would make them think I'd put something in their drinks lol.. |

Ah, that's the problem these days. Hits. One thing that always kept me faithful to Queen was that the next album was going to be ENTIRELY listenable. If I would have just gotten 'Greatest Hits' and 'Best Of', I probably would have dismissed them as another great arena rock act, a la Zeppelin, Who, etc. My advice to you is stop burning Queen Greatest Hits Anthologies. Buy them a full album. Otherwise, you're kinda doing a dis-service by only letting them see certain sides of Queen you deem worthy. |
