Just notifying those in here that may be caught up in this over here in OZ at the moment. Queen are NOT On Tour in Australia at the moment. The 'Queen - It's A Kind Of Magic' tour that is getting advertised now through Ticketek and the newspapers is A COVER BAND that is endorsed by Peter Freestone. This tour has nothing to do with Queen nor were Aussie Queens and those that supported us involved in this in anyway. If any of you out there hear people say that Queen are touring OZ and are buying tickets to this show to see the real Brian May and Roger Taylor - please tell them that it is a Cover band only not the real thing. We apologise for making this announcement in here but we need to get the word out to the fans that are getting confused by the advert It's A Kind Of Magic are running at the moment. For more details please go to: link |

My brother calls them "Kinda Tragic". They're that bad. Seriously! |
Sweetie 20.07.2007 02:22 |
I was going to see this cover band but I decided that I was too cool for them and met the John Butler Trio instead. |

Zebonka you might be interested to know they were banned from Burswood Casino as they (the venue) received 150 complaints after their last shows (in '05). They're only going back because the casino has since changed management. Luke |

i was there when they last played burswood, it was pretty shocking really. the sound was crap. that might have just been the venue tho, but unlikely as i saw we will rock you there wen it was running, and the sound was perfect, but yeh i though t they were a pale imitation. anyways thats "my 2 cents worth" PS: any one from OZ? feel free to email me or chat on msn, it would be nice to meet u. virtually speaking of course. Oh MAN That's awesome, I feel so vindicated!!! I never liked that damn band.... I was at the Burswood dome about a month ago seeing a friends band play. |
kenny8 20.07.2007 18:41 |
They are bloody dreadful. They should have their Visas removed and be deported! |
Penetration_Guru 20.07.2007 18:42 |
I'm really sorry, I can't resist this. Scroll past it if you're sensitive.... How fucking stupid are Australians these days? Follow up question - wouldn't the people confused by this (in their thousands, one imagines from the tone of this urgent missive) be the kind of passing fan that wouldn't spend wayyyyy too much free time on a site like this? Further question - wouldn't this lessen ticket sales, and isn't doing it a little harsh on whichever musical mannequins make up this troupe? Nasty final question - why would anyone believe Queen would tour Australia anyway? |
Champipple 20.07.2007 19:35 |
I saw them in Toronto a few years ago. The lead singer was AMAZING! His supporting cast... meh. They sounded great quality wise until about half way through the show when some monkey at the soundboard cranked up the volume to ear-peircing levels that made the rest of the show almost unbearable with the distortion and volume. The drummer was the worst (looked like a 17 year old kid who's still taking lessons). I think they replaced him. Also, if he's saying that the Brian May guitar solo is spot-on, that's a new thing too, cause when I saw them, the guitar solo was crap and absolutely nothing like anything Brian May would play. I'd go again, but not for the top dollar they are charging when they come to Toronto. |

The new guitarist is marginally better. Not into cover bands because I'd rather listen to the "real" thing on CD/DVD. I really was annoyed that they seemed to misrepresent themselves by having QUEEN in huge font in their ads and its a kinda magic in really small font. It gives non Queen fans the completely wrong idea. |
john bodega 22.07.2007 00:17 |
"How fucking stupid are Australians these days?" Just try LIVING here, man!! PS. That guy singing Nevermore is pretty good. I won't get into how he sounds like Freddie and how he doesn't - I just think he's a pretty decent live singer. Improved a bunch since he was on that talent show (I think that's him?). |
Sergei. 22.07.2007 01:12 |
Makes me wonder, if Queen were actually touring ANYWHERE, wouldn't the boards be swarming with questions and threads? Wouldn't people be asking who was singing and are they going anywhere else and whatnot? |
kenny8 22.07.2007 02:51 |
"Nasty final question - why would anyone believe Queen would tour Australia anyway?" Maybe they'd like the weather. I mean Australia with those beaches and blue skies is certainly nothing like that little rainy cold dump of an island you call home... I love the internet, and especially checking this place out from time to time. Where else could you find someone called "Penetration Guru" who thinks he's being smart whilst posting on a Queen fan forum?? Just priceless |

"Nasty final question - why would anyone believe Queen would tour Australia anyway?" No one likes to admit they live in the middle of nowhere, but I'm going to have to put my hand up for this.... like Q+PR would ever come out here!! If they do, it'd probably only be Sydney and Melbourne. I think Brian will have it in for us Perthicans after only a couple of hundred people turned up for the last show he did here. (My lecturer was the guy that drove him to and from the venue - apparently Brian was dumbstruck at how the show had tanked....) |
M.H 22.07.2007 08:15 |
I saw Queen-A Kind Of Magic a couple of nights ago at the Burswood hotel and I loved every minute of it. Craig Pesco was brilliant as Freddie, and I was really impressed at how he interacted with the audiance. My Grandparents gave me the tickets and I was dubious, as I nevedr like the idea of a tribute show. I was greatly suprised. If what you guys say is true, they have improved leaps and bounds since you saw them. Whilst there were one or two songs were the guitarist didn't quite get the sound right, the solo was spot on and the guys playing Roger and John were very impressive. M.H |

I went along to the Briabane show which was packed (though I think that was due to half the "cast" being local boys. If it's thought of as an artistic/stylistic representation of a queen show then it's not BAD but it's certainly not up to the standard I'd expect of a band of professional musicians. Drummer was lethargic and lagged behind the beat a fair bit, his wig was laughable.Interesting to note how badly the guitar solos were done (especially when the show was over and the offstage 2nd guitarist was introduced) The Freddie impression consisted of the standard concert quotes, (lots of darlings and hey heys plus the obligatory "this is what you wanted") There are better ..... much better. Certainly not as good imitators as the bootleg beatles. |

I'm just pointing out.... two hundred years ago, there might have been a bunch of convicts running around in my country; but they aren't now. They're all dead. It's just as irrelevant as pointing out that the people in P_G's country two hundred years ago probably didn't have two potatoes to rub together.... Ergo : Big deal!!! |

Aussie Queens has had a response from Craig Pesco regarding the matter. This was his public comment: "craig pesco Jul 24 2007 11:16P Comment Back - Send Message - Block User hi.. i am totally aware that queen are not touring Australia and am also aware that we are a theatrical recreation.. freddie mercury has been dead for quite some time." It's not my place to complain about what he was calling you, however... that's your lookout! |
