it was left out cos Robert Plant didnt like the performance and his mic didnt work for the first few lines, They where going to do a kind of magic but didnt have time because of TV schedule
Wasn't Chris Thompson supposed to sing 'A Kind Of Magic' with Brian, Roger, and John? And I remember reading somewhere that 'Old Friends' was going to be performed by Roger as his tribute to Freddie (much as Brian's 'Too Much Love Will Kill You').
matthew poulter wrote: WHY WAS INNUENDO LEFT OFF FREDDIE TRIBUTE VID/DVD DID THEY PLAY A KIND OF MAGIC AT THAT CONCERT
They didn't play AOBTD neither and it's more strange!
they couldnt real play that at a tribute to someone that had died
lol true that sounds funny tho..
ok no disprespect there!
i think the tribute should have been longer,
who gives about tv time. they can cut out what they want. i also have the feeling they cut bits out of the tribute to put on the dvd...
i downloaded guns n roses doing knocking on heavens door, and then i saw elizabeth taylor doing a speech and niether of them where on the dvd...
really weird.

I remember posting something like this a few months ago, and they all agreed that Plant's Innuendo (as I put the title) was definitely not Robert's finest hour. link
Found it.
I didn't realize it was a mystery that only half (if that) of the show is on the DVD release.
I believe Taylor's speech is on the DVD, though it is a weird place and you are even prompted to 'Watch full version' - or something like that.
Plus, Bob Geldof and Spinal Tap aren't even on the official VHS release.
The important Queen half was on the DVD because it was easy to get the rights to those songs.
The VHS was cut because some of the performers were unhappy with they're performance. The DVD was cut for whatever reasons & I think they polietly put Innuendo's disapearence down to "technical dificulties"
I don't know, Zucchero was pretty awful too. I don't know why they left the Extreme medley off of the DVD because it was great performance and a true tribute to Freddie and Queen.
As I was one of the lucky soles to be there on the day, a number of things were missed off the video release, don't have the DVD but I think this is edited even more.
From what I can recall, the following was missed of the video -
Def Leppard - Animal
Extreme - More than words
Robert Plant - Innuendo (sounded great on the day once his mic started to work, maybe it lost something on TV).
Liz Taylors Speech - this did not go down very well as despite her best efforts Roger's drum kit with the Queen logo could be seen behind her and everybody wanted to get on with rocking - so she got heckled quite a lot.
It was a great day, especially as we really had no idea who was actually playing until we arrived at Wembly that morning.
