Check out the "list of official recordings" in this scan of a Record Collector magazine from June '89: link
It mentions a Capitol Radio transcription disc of the Hyde Park show. Has anyone ever heard anything about this?
They did broadcast the concert live on the radio, yes? This was of course a different mix than the video source (which is pretty awful). Why hasn't the recording seen the light of day?
I mainly think because it's a collectors item. In 1989 worth 100 pound already? So.. Interesting stuff in the article. They filmed all Paris shows and also some Japanese ones aswell.
I know the Japan 1979 is a mixture of two nights. WWRY and WATC are from a different night. Also nice to hear they have got the Hammersmith completely in the Queenvault.
Greg... what are you waiting for.. release!!!!
Two years ago Planet Rock Radio announced this:
'We will be broadcasting all day from back stage at Hyde Park, and at about 9 o'clock, whilst the guys are on stage, we will be broadcasting the original Hyde Park gig from the mid '70's in its entirety. This is not a shoddy bootleg, the band have made available to us the original master tapes of the concert, and we can assure you that they are far better than anything you may already have heard'.
It never happened...
I never heard of that transcription disc. I googled it and I found that the Golders Green show is from BBC transcription discs. So yes, there must be a clean recording of Hyde Park too then, since we all know the quality of the Golders Green show...
I remember seeing a copy of the Hyde Park 76 BBC Transcription Disc in my local second hand record shop when I was at school. I think it was about £40 from memory (this was in about 1987/88), and being a schoolkid I couldn't afford it - what a bummer! I did hold it though; I remember a yellow label on the centre of the vinyl.

Very good of you Bob, to bring this up! I bet it will pop up this year, just wait. When it does, you'll do one of your fantastic audio remastering jobs for the Hyde Park '76 dvd, the QTV version, which I first got from you on VCD before you learned how to burn DVDs.lol..(I know it was a software/hardware issue).
