Hi!,
I just spent 40 hours unsuccesfully trying to download one of the files posted on this site. I can only afford a dial-up internet connection at the moment and I am finding it to be hopelessly inadequate for downloading music files.
Is there anyone out there who is willing to burn some things to CD for me? I know that it is illegal to pay people to send this kind of material but I can send you blank CDs, I can reimburse you for any materials you use, and/or I can send you music in trade. I'll also be eternally grateful!!!
Here are the kinds of things that I am desparately seeking:
* Any high quality live recordings from '72 through '74.
* Smile
* Larry Lorax
* Mad the Swine
* See What a Fool I've Been
* Roger Taylor's early solo single
* Any early demo tapes
* Wreckage or other pre-Queen bands the members belonged to (if any recordings exist)
Basically, I'm looking for any high quality recordings from the early years. I am 40 years old and I have been wanting to hear this material since I was about 11 years old. It would mean a lot to me if I could get my hands on these recordings.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
mike
One thing I don't get. You can afford to pay for the postage and packing, but you can't pay for a decent Internet connection. Don't get this the wrong way, I'm not trying to put you down or anything, but it just seems odd. And sadly, we get plenty of odd on this website.
Perhaps you could indicate where in the world you live. That would make it easier to help you out. I'm sure you'll get a kick of some of the early recordings. Frankly I wish I could be in your shoes - hearing the Smile/Ibex/1984/Larry Lurex recordings for the first time is going to be a blast for you.
As long as you don't do something stupid like sell them on eBay...
V.
I only know 1 person with a 56k modem now as the price is nearly the same as ADSL.
But i think there is a place in the Sahara that can't get it
Oh...that 1 person
My wife...lol...she ain't grabbing any of my speed.
Wireless is not working today darling ;)
I've got the following for sale:
I Wanna Testify 7"
Seven Seas Of Rhye 7"
but you want them for free...
If you want this material SOOOOO badly, get a second job.
In response to your statement about being able to afford postage and packing but not being able to afford a decent Internet connection:
Postage and packing will be a small, one-time expense that I can afford. A better internet connection, however, will be an ongoing monthly expense that will ultimately add up to quite a bit more money.
I have devoted myself to a lifestyle in which I work many hours to offer counselling services to people who cannot otherwise afford them. This means that I get to do something that I feel is very meaningful but that doesn't pay very well. As a result, I have to be frugal in order to pay the bills.
I think it is a fair trade to make in life. If I continue to live a frugal lifestyle I will get to keep offering services to people who otherwise would not get help. I'm happy to do that.
To answer your other question, I live in the United States.

And I live in a small country in south-easter Europe. So small in fact, that most Americans that I've met have never heard of it. It's called Bulgaria.
I'd love to help you out, buddy. Really, I would. But postage from here to the USofA would cost me a fortune. Perhaps some kind soul living in the States could help you out.
Best of luck to you,
Vlad
bigV : And why the hell was I thinking you're from Romania ? And nothing againts Americans, but they still thing that there's something like Czechoslovakia :)
to point@... : I could help you with most of the stuff you are searching for, but not a 72 concert or the last thing in your list. The problem is that I am currently very busy, but if you don't get some normal response within a week or two I can help you.
Hi!,
Thank you for all of your offers and suggestions! You are a great group of people!!! One very kind person just e-mailed me, offering to burn the tracks for me as long as I provide the blank CDs and the postage. I'll also offer to send this person some rare material that I have in an attempt to thank him for his efforts. If there are any tracks that I am unable to snag in this deal I'll do another posting. I'll also have more material to offer in trade by then!
About copyright law: I was under the (perhaps incorrect) assumption that this is all legal as long as it is just a small number of people exchanging material for free. As I understand it, it is only a problem if people either sell material or if they give away many, many copies of a commercially available product. Is that correct? I imaging all of you know more about this than I do.
