I've been buying laserdiscs lately and putting them on DVD. But I like to be able to use the high quality (1 hour) recording speed and then just use DVD Shrink to get them down to single layer size.
I've been doing that just fine.. but with widescreen letterbox laserdiscs it's an awful waste of valuable disc space to shrink the black bars too..
Is there any simple software out there which will crop DVD vob files to 16:9 and add the tag for that so I can make anamorphic DVDs?
The only stuff I can find which will crop them are geared towards making smaller files of Divx and XviD avi but I want lossless DVD to DVD cropping. I know this can be done through a long and difficult process with TMPGEnc Plus, but that requires me to demux the audio and resync as well as waiting hours for the re-encoded file which may or may not be right.
The newest version of EasyMPEG works with VOB files and is able to save the results as VOB files. It still has that nice "drag and drop" feature, and it has a button to merge files.
Thanks Raf. I can't find an option to crop them though.. maybe you misunderstood. I mean like, cut the black letterbox bars off the top and bottom of the frame :)
But it looks like a nice, easy editor though.

Oh. I guess I've mistaken "crop" and "merge". My bad, I should've read everything a bit more carefully. ;-)
Have you tried WinAVI or Total Video Converter? The problem is that unlike EasyMPEG, those aren't free for home users. So you might have to pay a registration fee. Or get a free serial on Google, maybe. ;)

Good grief. Looks like I've caught the QZ poor spelling bug.
I fixed it in my original post and this one.
(Okay, waste of time to have posted this, :P - but I feel better, nyah nyah).
