I'm wondering if anyone has read anything through the years regarding this topic. It's interesting to think what Mary Austin will do with Garden Lodge in the future?

Who cares what that woman does?

I hope not...
I hope it just gets passed on or sold to someone else who will enjoy it.
It's just a house - and from what I've seen of it (looking through the photo galleries here), it's a nice house. So I think it would be nice if someone (or someones, more likely) could just live there and enjoy it (for it being a nice house, not necessarily because Freddie once owned it).
Unless they plan on doing that "modern decorating" thing to it... then I would find them and castrate them myself. I mean - anyone who does that to ANY house. It's sick. And wrong.
it's HER f*cking house....so why wonder? it's of NO concern to anyone but her what she does with it
I'd piss myself laughing if she made it a shrine to ELO or Def Leppard or some other band....that'd really make the stepfords wail
If I get very rich some day, I would love to buy it if it came up for sale.
I cant imagine how much its worth now.
The fact that Freddie lived and died there might increase the value by some millions, dont you think?
If she does decide to sell it its up to her as long as she doesn't open it up to the public because it was a place where Freddie could go and have no members of the public looking in on him so I think it should be left private.

Miami Vice wrote: People carve messages into the front door that is on the street, leave candles and flowers and other things around the house, and take photos of themselves in front of the house. So many people already treat the house as a shrine.
I think this is silly. I guess I can "understand" people wanting to do that (in the same way I can fathom someone wanting to see the world in pastel colours for the rest of eternity)...
It was his house, ooo - ahh - it's someone else's house now. And I'm sure that having people write stuff on your door gets old. If I had a friend that died, I'm sure I would be trying to move on with my life and not still be wading through flowers fifteen years after he died.
Maybe it's not all bad - maybe it's nice to know he's remembered. But who is getting the flowers ? Does she keep them ? Does she throw them away ?
It's just a house. A nice house. But there are plenty of nice houses out there. Some of these houses are open to the public, where the owner gladly lives somewhere else or in a part of the house where tourists aren't allowed.
If someone gave me the choice to visit Freddie's house or the Taj Mahal (assurances I wouldn't die or anything).... Well, sorry Freddie's ghost, my Ouija board and I won't be seeing you.
Miami Vice wrote: And Mary Austin has said in interviews that she has left most of the decor of the house untouched including Freddies bedroom suit, so she treats the house as something of a shrine herself.
Which I think makes it safe to say, she would never open it to the public. She's kept it the way Freddie wanted it - private - and she'll no doubt keep it that way.
As she should, IMO.
Fuck Graceland. Elvis isn't even living there anymore, why would you want to visit it??
Same goes for Garden Lodge, I'm sure it's very nice, but if Freddie isn't in, then why go there? It'd be depressing!

I've actually been there before, and naturally they have areas closed off, such as the entire second floor. So if they ever made Garden Lodge like Graceland, which I doubt, people wouldn't be able to see all of it anyway.

What!! why i was not informed of this! Is he really dead?? I guess no one knew about this :D
What's the point in seeing his house. What the band should do is put together some sort of museum with old stage sets, instruments etc. They could have a screening room showing concerts, promo videos etc.I don't know.I suppose they could have a room with all the records released from around the world, awards, stage costumes.I am sure that there are enough of us fans to keep a place like this open.
Is it really strange that people want to visit the house Freddie lived in?
I cant seem to find any problems with that at all.
However, making Garden Lodge open for public is a different matter.
I don't think the neighbours would appreciate it being turned into a Graceland. How would you handle the traffic and parking, etc. They'd be pissed right off if busloads of tourists turned up everyday! Besides, it's Marys' home now.
