It's a hp officejet 6110. Lately when I've used it and tried to scan photos, it won't do it unless I, once again, and again, and again reinstall the program. Yesterday I thought my home smelled a bit like plastic burning, but in the morning I had used something on my hair called Color Oops!, and my whole place smelled like chemicals, so I didn't think anything of it. Tonight, sniff, sniff, it was on power save, but when I tried to shut it off, it wouldn't. When I went to disconnect the power cord on its backside, I accidentally touched the flip-up lid on the upper left back corner, and it was hot, hot, hot! - way too hot to even touch! I looked in the reference guide under "b" for burning and "s" for stinky, but nothing listed there. Do these things have fans or something that cools them off? I am terrified to turn it on in case it might burst into flames! Advice???

Hahaha. I can't help you, but thanks for the laugh :-P
edit- well that was a bit rude so what I'd suggest is definitely don't try to use it again until you've either had it checked out (if it's under warranty) or just get a new one.. these 'all-in-one' machines are getting insanely cheap lately.
Keep it unplugged hon :)
PS- It looks like a lot of folks have problems with this printer.. link
Though I wouldn't suggest plugging it in to try their suggestions.. your problem sounds more dangerous.
Oh, you sweetheart. Thanks for the link. I should have known HP had a support forum. I typed in my problem, so we'll see what their response is. Wouldn't you know my 3-year warranty expired this past September. By the way, one time your profile said you were female. Have you had an operation? I see you are still involved in your, er, hobby. I can't remember what your count used to be. I assume it is going up because it couldn't be going down. Up. Down. Oh, dear.
Yeah don't believe all you read in my profile. I like to confuse people and make them giggle. While there are apparently some sort of female ejaculations (thank god I'll never have to be near one!) my little note there refers strictly to being male ;)
Speaking of ejaculations or a lack thereof, Merry Christmas!
