yeah
672/8
3298/11
Well, I would prefer to write these on paper, but my scanner's broken, so...
First one :
8*.5=4, so 8*50=400 (you just move the decimal point).
So, 672-400=272.
Then, 8*.25=2.
So, 8*25=200.
So, 272-200=72.
Finally, 8*9=72, so... 72-72=0.
Now, you must have kept track of how many times 8 "went into" 672. In this case, it is 50+25+9. Which is 84.
So, the answer is 84.
For 3298/11 ...
11*22=242. So, 11*220=2420.
Then, 3298-2420=878.
11*7=77. So, 11*70=770.
878-770=108.
11*9=99.
108-99=9.
So, depeding on what your teacher wants, the answer is either found now, as 220+70+9 and the remainder (9). So, it would be 299, remainder 9.
Or, if they want you to try to be precise, you could...
11*9=99. So, 11*.9=9.9. So, you could say that a closer answer would be rounded at about 299.9.
In my old school district, we DID learn this in third grade...
But when we moved to this new district, it turned out that kids seriously didn't know how to do long-divisions by hand. And this was something like my Sophomore year (grade 10). Then again, their first health class was in 8th grade...
This worries me...
Fuck, I hate the stupid unitl circle.
And polar coordiantes.
But I like trigonometry.
But not the fact that I keep forgetting to switch my calculator from degrees to radians.
Or the fact that I skipped a year for math (I didn't take a math class last year).
