BIRTHDAY DOCUMENTARY TO MARK MERCURY'S 60TH
ITV
A new documentary detailing the life and times of Freddie Mercury will be hitting telly screens to mark his 60th birthday.
Freddie Mercury: A Kind Of Magic was partly filmed in India where the singer was raised and features exclusive interviews with his mother Jer Bulsara and sister Kashmira Cooke. It also includes never heard before audio interviews with the singer, who would have turned 60 on September 5.
As the frontman of Queen, his group sold 80 million albums around the world and helped define popular culture in the 1970s and 80s. However, Freddie was also famous for the gossip surrounding his private life. Freddie's close friends and collaborators such as his boyfriend Jim Hutton and celebrity fans Robbie Williams, McFly and Mike Myers all make appearances in the documentary, to be screened on ITV1 on September 12.
