great. I can't download it. the tracker keep rejecting me and tells me some rubbish about increasing my share ratio to 0.25% even though my settings are set to seed indefinately!!! Rapidshare anyone? |
Ginger01 05.09.2006 17:12 |
Rapidshare no (at least not from me!) but I'd be glad to do a torrent of this once I've completed. The message you have been getting from Dime is that you you can't download any more until you have shared more. |

Awesome recording! Again a really neat 2nd source. |
TheGame 06.09.2006 02:40 |
Indeed, this is very exciting. Wonder how the quality is compared to the other 2 sources available... |
Innuendo_86 06.09.2006 03:40 |
I was there! What a great show!!! But the weather and the swedish newspapers was real bad becouse they wrote a lot shit when queen was playing in Sun City. If you listen to the record of the concert you can here that Freddie Mercury said "Don´t belive what you read in papers". The swedish band TREAT and GARY MORE played before queen. |
The Real Wizard 06.09.2006 13:17 |
This is one of my favourite shows. It's the first show of the Magic tour, and Freddie sounds so excited to be back on stage. Listen to him during One Vision! Looking forward to hearing this alternate source. |

SaludosWhat he means is that this is a share from the master recording and it should not be converted and shared as an MP3. You should download the FLAC file and convert to MP3 for personal use only. If you go to the actual thread, the person who made this available requested this not to be converted and shared as MP3. |

It's available in FLAC if anyone wants it. This is a master recording from a new source which is not available in any other format right now. If you truly appreciate this recording, then you'll understand that this is a new source, in better quality than the old source, and that it should remain it that way. The same goes for the new London 84 sources, Manchester 86, and Dallas 78. These recordings first showed up on Dime and TTD, so we know for a fact that there were no mp3 copies when they first hit the Internet. Let's see if it stays that way. If you don't want FLAC, then leave these recordings alone, as you can't truly want the recordings that badly and appreciate how important they are. The original sharers asked for these not to be converted to mp3, so that in itself should be enough reason to leave them alone. |

It's the same source as we had for a while, but the guy who recorded it generously wanted to share it because it wasn't available in complete form. Right after he recorded the concert, he transferred the show to two tapes, lucky for us, because one of the two master cassettes literally fell apart over the years. So, disc 1 is from the first gen tape, and disc 2 is from the master. I think it ended up being torrented here too, but that was soon after the original share. I can hook you up with a copy if you'd like. |

Bob, I think you're a bit arrogant deciding what people should listen to. It's not up to you man. You know I respect you as a collector, as a musician and as a friend. But you're really freaking out on this subject. If people want to listen to mp3 because it's more convenient. (You just have to accept that it is convenient: you can listen to it on your mp3 player, discman, dvd player etc) If people prefer slightly less quality, but with a more convenient and universal file extention let them have their fun. Let them listen to their mp3's and listen to the flacs yourself. It's not up to you to say that people who don't want flacs, or torrents or whatever just shouldn't listen to the music. How would you react if people started to say that folks who listen to vinyl records should stop listening to the music, because they aren't listening in the best quality available? |

FriedChicken
The Almighty wrote: If people prefer slightly less quality, but with a more convenient and universal file extention let them have their fun. Let them listen to their mp3's and listen to the flacs yourself. If you think I'm being arrogant about this, then you must think every user at Dime, TTD, JamToThis, and BootCity are arrogant too, just because they have quality standards. Collectors want to preserve the quality of their recordings. It's as simple as that. However, I agree, having separate sections for lossless and lossy would be a start, but it's not a perfect solution. It's a fact that because people here convert recordings to mp3, there are people who won't share their recordings with ANY fan of Queen. I know many of these people, and some of them have Queen recordings we've never heard of before. If you'd spend a lot of time in the wider collecting world dealing with people who care about quality preservation, you'd understand and agree with me. Queen collectors have a completely different mentality than most other collectors, and for this reason, our reputation is terrible. How would you react if people started to say that folks who listen to vinyl records should stop listening to the music, because they aren't listening in the best quality available? That's different... once upon a time, vinyl was the best option. There has never been a time when mp3 was the best option. Trust me Niek... I know what I'm talking about. :) I'm not trying to be arrogant. I'm trying to get the policies changed here, because EVERYONE in the end will benefit. |
FriedChicken 04.10.2006 11:37 |
I don't see whats the problem in other people having mp3's when you have a better flac yourself. Even those others traders who don't want to share stuff because somebody may convert it. What about people who put their stuff on cassette, so they can listen with their walkmans |
The Real Wizard 04.10.2006 14:53 |
FriedChicken
The Almighty wrote: I don't see whats the problem in other people having mp3's when you have a better flac yourself.Niek, I've explained numerous times why having mp3s in the trade pool in the first place are a problem in itself. What about people who put their stuff on cassette, so they can listen with their walkmansThat's fine. That's their own choice because it's for their own private use. I'm talking about converting it again to share it somewhere. It's unnecessary quality loss. |

i've been collecting queen stuff since 1973 and years ago the only trading was with audio cassettes,i think all queen gigs have been recorded using tapes so why not go back to dealing in tapes again.show me any queen gigs that were originaly recorded on cd's?????not one that i know of so no one is going to get the perfect recording of any queen show even queen productions can't get it right thats why they never released earls court officially or hyde park |

"I'm not trying to be arrogant. I'm trying to get the policies changed here, because EVERYONE in the end will benefit." Yeah I understand that. But whats the problem if besides a flac there's also an mp3 version uploaded for those who want it. In the end it's the flac version that will be loved around traders. |

It not hard to do at all. Those people will benefit from learning how to do it.They won't be restricted to downloading from this site only. I mean, someone like Andy puts out a FLAC recording from a master tape and it probably took more time to transfer it to digital and FLAC it than someone to DL it in FLAC and convert it. i think that's what this whole issue has been about from Sir GH. I think the less we talk about posting MP3s the more new shows we will see here. |

It's just that many people, myself included, have since realized that mp3 has its many flaws and side effects. It's nothing personal against the people that don't understand these things yet. It only becomes personal when some people refuse to open their ears and minds to hear what the informed people have to say about it, and subsequently attack them when they're simply trying to explain the difference, and why lossless inevitably benefits everyone. and for the concerts you mentioned I got them already from many years ago,I'm not downloading them only to have them in the famous flac version right?.Not only is it lossless, but the second generation copy is most likely an upgrade of whatever you have (unless you were somehow incredibly lucky enough to know the taper back in the 90s before his master tape was destroyed in a flood). So, you're welcome to download it, and I'm sure you'll be happy to have the better-sounding version. :) Maxxbono wrote: could you? it would be awesome to have this in FLAC, and I can't dl in Dime because registration limit is exceeded there...Sure, no problem.
