Mr Scully is researching the shows and he's promised that he will find "the truth". Hopefully that truth will include some recordings. I have a personal interest in these shows and I really hope that a recording or two will surface some day. By the way, this is the Announce section of the forum. Please refer to the appropriate section next time. Best wishes, V. |

Why want rare stuff? There are far more better Works concerts available. |

Well, I am South African and can tell you that I know people who went. My friend's dad went, he said it was unbelievable. My aunt had a ticket for one of the nights when he as sick and didn't get to go. I'd like to hear this concert for sentimental value as it is the only time Queen ever came to our beautiful country. I know that Queen + PR came for one concert, but I never got to go. I hope they come again. |

Anyhow, Mr. Scully told me in Budapest that he had contacted a person in South Africa who allegedly had recordings of all seven shows, but he wanted to sell them at a very steep price. They come to an agreement and eventually the person moved to the USA and Mr. Scully hasn't heard from him since. I wonder how many of us would actually pay to get these recordings out... V. |

I would much rather put in the money to get recordings from the 70s than for a few average 1984 performances. If Freddie's voice crapped out on him to the point of not being able to finish a show, then the performances were definitely worse than the Vienna shows, which indeed were not great. |

I thought Sun City was a lip synched concert?? Maybe i am wrong but i have video footage of Queen doing a mimed show in africa?? I am almost sure it was Sun City, and i think there was a huge lighted sign in the backdrop of the stage that said "SUN CITY", i will have to look for this video, but i don't have a capture card, so i don't have a way to share this, unless i can use my friends standalone dvdr, and then copy it to my pc. If this is the concert in question, i will do whatever i can to get it to you guys here. |

Even when playing with 5ive, the boy band's parts were mimed, whereas Brian and Roger played live to a recording. I am almost certain that the video you have will turn out to be one of the Montreux gigs. Moreover, at the time of the Sun City shows there was no television in the Republic of South Africa, so its highly unlikely that the shows were filmed for South African television. V. |

bigV wrote:Actually after finding the Vhs and reading the label it says "Queen Live at the San Remo Song Festival, 1984" So it is not anything from Montreux. And i am 100% sure that this song WAS mimed. I could have sworn i do have a concert video of Queen performing and in the backdrop sign it says "SUN CITY" all lit up. Unless the San Remo has a big lit sign??Crezchi wrote: I thought Sun City was a lip synched concert?? Maybe i am wrong but i have video footage of Queen doing a mimed show in africa??
