BS= Bachelors degree of science.
Depends on how it's used. If it's used as a noun
"I'm getting a BS" it means you are getting a Bachelor of Science Degree in whatever field you've chosen to study.
If it's a verb
"I BS'd my way through that paper", then it stands for Bullshit. You'll hear them used interchangeably on any campus. :-)

BS= Bachelors degree of science.
Nope. That's BSc.
I think that's what he means. You don't get a Bachelors of Science degree alone. You get a Bachelor of Science Degree in a chosen field (Math, Anthropology, Chemistry...etc.) Basically it means you took more science courses as part of your "general studies" portion of the degree. There's
BS= Bachelor of Science Degree in (insert major here)
BSS= Bachelor of Social Sciences Degree in (insert major here)
BA= Bachelor of Arts Degree in (insert major here)
BAA= Bachelor of Applied Arts Degree in (insert major here)
BFA= Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in (insert major here)
The only difference in any of these degrees is what you take as part of your "general studies". For example: I majored in History. I could have gotten a BS or a BA. My friends, who got BS Degrees in History, took the same history that I took, but they had to have 124 credits of "general studies" that included things like english, math, speech, and a bunch of science courses (chemistry, biology, etc.). I got a BA degree, so I took the same history classes that my friends did, but for my general portion I took 2 years of a foreign language instead of 2 years of science classes. Which degree type you choose depends on your major and your interests. But as a general rule, you can only get a BFA in an "artsy" field like music or art or theatre.

point being.....people call ita BS for short, at least at U of R they did.
If by U of R you mean University of Rochester in New York, that is the school I had almost attended, until I decided that I didn't want to have to pay for college, despite the considerable scholarship. Thinking back, it might have been a good idea to go there.

It's a wonderful campus there.
The school I attend now, The College of New Jersey, used to be great, but this year we have a giant douche governor who goes by the name Corzine. Apparently we need to cut support to higher education in New Jersey so much that my college is losing something like 6-12 million dollars, in addition to being sued for 5 million more by the extreme douche bag known as John Fiocco's family.
