What are you expecting from this set? What would you like to see from it? I'm looking forward to the chance of adding the B-Sides I don't have to my Queen collection and who knows what surprises may come from this? You never know. |

Whilst it's contents are (as far as we're aware), something the older of us have had for years (I can hear my friends crying "rip off" and "EMI taking the piss again"), I for one am quite happy to have this set, expecially if the tracks have been remastered to the same level as the "high Def" version of Teo Torriate that appeared on the Japanese Jewels set. I find it highly unlikely that the B sides and extended mixes will ever get the 5.1 treatment (heck, they even seemed to stopped giving the albums the 5.1 treatment), so this is probably the last best chance we get to have the best quality versions of these songs. I can't see EMI ripping us off to the tune of £100 like the FM boxset was, as they'd need to make it as affordable to Joe Public as possible. |

I think I'm a collector and I'm looking forward to it - in fact I'd claim it's aimed at collectors and not the "man in the street". Obviously the benchmark is the excellent Freddie box - as long as it's at least as complete (95%) and well packaged as that was, I'll be happy. btw John, we already did discuss it when it was first announced. There will be threads about it, if the search button was working. |

I would like to EMI release an anthology type of box set like The Beatles did in the 90’s. It would contain things like alternate takes, live recordings, un-released tracks & interviews |
Adam Baboolal 18.07.2006 16:38 |
That's not what this is lou. This is a collection of singles, mixes and b-sides etc. They're supposedly splitting up the all in one box with ideas like this, I guess. Peace, Adam. |
Pim Derks 18.07.2006 20:17 |
Well, if this Full Works-box means that there'd be more room for unreleased stuff on the other boxsets (if they ever appear) than I'm all for it. I always hated it that the FM boxset only offered 3 out of 8 discs of new material. Besides that, I don't expect much. I'm afraid there'll be some missing tracks, wrongly labelled tracks etc. I hoped it would be 100% complete, but since GB already said that some of the YDFM mixes won't be included that won't be the case... I'd rather pay 20 euros more and have 2 discs with those remaining mixes than having to make an extra cd-r myself with the missing tracks. |

LEROY BROWN: It'll be released because EMI need some Queen product this Christmas, and even they must realise that they'll never get away with a greatest hits CD package again....!! I for one, won't miss the YDFM remixes as they're all shite and not even remixed by the band. I hope it contains unreleased remixes (by the band) - what was it that John remixed in 86 that was never released? Was it a Queen or Freddie track? |

Thanks Hero! It's that long ago, I'd forgotton what john had remixed. If there are no "new" tracks on this Freddie Greatest Hits CD, It'd be nice to have these - probably the last chance to get them. Greg? Are you reading this???? |
Serry... 19.07.2006 07:40 |
I think it's a good release. Nothing new for me and other guys, perhaps, but still that's okay for me. Compilations not always are bad releases... |
scprof 19.07.2006 10:33 |
If it has most of the following on, then it should be good. If they have any sense they will release a lot of it as many of the demos are already in the public domain after being released unofficially. So by releasing them, it would then make a lot of the songs 'Official releases'. link |

Freddie lives, re: >It'll be released because EMI need some Queen >product this Christmas, and even they must >realise that they'll never get away with a >greatest hits CD package again....!! It's not stopped them in the past, has it. I woudl imagine that we'll be getting the GVH3 DVD at Christmas this year. When (actually, that should read "if") the box set (s) are ever released, QPL will go hell-for-leather on the publicity - with nly 5 months of the year left, it's not going to happen this year. |

ONCE MORE, for the LAST time: this box will contain B-SIDES, EXTENDED VERSIONS, SINGLE VERSIONS. That is NOT demos, alternate takes, whatever. Can your struggling brain FINALLY grasp this?!! |
scprof 19.07.2006 15:11 |
We can all wait and see what is released, if they ever release the box set. And anyway, would you not rather that they did release all the old demos etc. to give a more complete official collection. I also used the term demo in a loose term in that I meant all the remixes, extended versions etc. as well. |

In this month's 'Rhythm' (UK Drum mag)there is a short interview with Brian in appreciation of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He says in this that the mix of We Will Rock You featuring Chad Smith and Flea will feature in the singles box set, but that it is the only one of the Rick Rubin mixes to be in there as it's the only one that he likes. This suggests that the box will be heavily 'pruned' simply according to what Brian/Roger/Jim Beach like, as opposed to being complete with all singles releases/mixes. |
Adam Baboolal 21.07.2006 07:59 |
Not really. That just refers to the alternate mixes out there a la YDFM. Peace, Adam. |

By not having all of the versions of songs or all the songs themselves that were singles on the boxset it will allow them to include them on re-issues of the original studio l.p.s Hence why calling the "The Full Works" may not be such a good idea. |

I always thought it would be done in the same fashion as the complete works. There are no rules to this set. Peace, Adam. P.S. I too like two or three of the YDFM mixes! |

I'll be quite happy to have ALL of the original 12" mixes in one place at decent quality, all of the b-sides including unique stand=alone versions of crossfaded tracks for example. When it comes to stuff like You Don't Fool Me or the WWRY mini-album by Rubin, I hope they use good judgement and don't waste too much space on those. That said, I'll buy the thing anyway.. and they know that guys like me will buy whatever they put out :( |
luthorn 23.07.2006 23:19 |
I am not looking forward to it at all. It seems like a recycling project to me. I would rather see more concert DVDs like Live on Fire, for example. I would rather buy a recording of Freddie blowing farts than pay for things that I already own in 98%. |
Lester Burnham 24.07.2006 00:27 |
I'm actually looking forward to this - I've got the Elvis Costello singles box sets, and they're quite good, so I imagine Queen's will be just as good. Certainly, Mr. Costello was far more prolific than our boys were, but I think the price of the boxes will be worth it to have a lovely-sounding version of 'A Human Body'. Also, when'd you become a moderator, Thomas? |
wstüssyb 24.07.2006 01:04 |
Thomas has been a mod since he was born, just ask his Mom :) Anyways...no clue if im gonna spend some $$ on this... |
