So I suggest you go back to crappy topics about insignificant republicans dying, and leave musicians to the sensible people. |

Please don't start a fight, Thomas. No matter what your personal feelings are toward FGT, can't you lay off just this once? I mean, if this were one of those idiotic "I wanna jump Roger's bones" threads I wouldn't say anything. Hell, I may even join you. It's just that I've seen scant few posts she's made where she hasn't been ripped on by someone, whether it be for talking about someone dead, stating her political views, or more personal things. And this is NOT a personal attack on Thomas, by any means. I've actually been meaning to say this for a while now, he just gave me the opportunity. I don't really have any problems with the people who constantly pick on FGT. Hell, I may even like some of you. I just can't stand seeing someone being publicly trashed all the time for seemingly no reason other than being different. It's just not fair. Okay, I'll shut up now. |

I prefer POST Syd Barrett Floyd. I liken him to Pete Best, Peter Banks, etc... Just with less talent. Pink Floyd would have never been the great band they are had Syd Sparret remained in the band. (And not like they tried to help him, either!) And his solo material? *yawn* |

I miss him very much, and he WAS talented in terms of songwriting, lyrics and melodies. My favourites are "Scarecrow", "Luficer Sam", "Baby Lemonade" and "Effervescing Elephant". |

If you were to ask him, he would probably respond the way he did when asked about the Floyd: "It's nothing to do with me." Then he'd go back to his gardening and painting.Syd never made any comments regarding his political views whatsoever, to my knowledge, so I don't quite see how you can make that statement.I know adding one and one can be really difficult, but it's not impossible: 1) Roger Waters is left-winged to say the least 2) Roger expressed on several occasions that he and Syd shared the same views on life and society Add these two together: you have to deduce that Syd was left-winged. |
Mr.Jingles 18.07.2006 09:31 |
Although the great majority of musicians disagree with the right wing, it doesn't mean they are part of left wing. Caspar needs to stop making up bullshit stories about musicians being hardcore left wing socialists when most of them have never made statements saying where they belong politically. I would say the majority of rock musicians are either moderate leftists, centrists, or non-partisan. If you want to listen to a leftist rock band, then pick Rage Against The Machine, although I have to warn everyone that they completely suck. One of the best things that ever happened to rock music was the day that RATM broke up. |

Indeed, I'm not overly familiar with the guy but from the posts I have read he seems be a bit of a pain in the arse. He also seems to feel he has something to prove. Ironically he probably thinks his behaviour makes him look clever, when in actual fact it makes him look like a moody, insecure teenager. Hopefully his hormones will settle down eventually. Probably best to try and ignore him. |
