I thought about posting this in the other TMLWKY thread, but that thread may have played out, plus this is a question that would have taken it slightly off topic anyway.
So...
Would any of the highly esteemed Queen Scholars here (and I'm serious - you guys are great!) know when the recording sessions might have taken place for Freddie's vocals of this song?
I'd have liked to be a fly on the wall to know how the concept of Freddie's singing this even came about. Like, whose idea was it? Did Brian suggest it? Did Freddie request it or demand it?

I don´t think it was Freddie´s idea, because it was romoured that he said that the song was "good, but not that good" to be on the "Miracle". If this is true or not, i don´t know!
The only reason i find to the song not be on the "Miracle" album is because it was not credit to Queen members only. I think this was one of the criteria for Freddie when he started Queen, so...
Take care

Actually that's just an urban myth. According to David Richards, it was quite the opposite: the reason why there's a Queen version is precisely that Freddie loved the song and sang on it.

Not quite. The reason is that they had problems with the publishing rights; that is, even if there were no problem with Liz or Frank, the companies that owned their rights had to give permisson etc. Legal shit like that. There are indeed other Queen songs with additional composers: Doin' All Right, All God's People, and even two covers: Wedding March and God Save The Queen.

In fact, the song was still part of the album (working title: INVISIBLE MEN) well into the mixing stage. Too Much Love Will Kill You was included in Side A, between I Want It All and The Invisible Man.
If that is correct then it must have been a pretty finished version. I wonder how it differs to the version we now know? Did Brian alter much when it came to Made in heaven?
