AND ITS FREDDIE'S BEAUTIFUL SONG NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *faints and hits head on floor* Really, guys, could it get any worse than this?!!!!!!! Freddie would probably have a stroke and go kill some people and John would live in a state of disbelief causing him to quit the band and Brian would try to make peace with everyone and on the inside not like them but on the outside act like they're talented and great and Roger would just walk away in disgust! |

I'm horrified. This same band re-recorded my namesake. TBABIT By Thin Lizzy. Piss off and record something original and stop ruining brilliant songs like that or Don't Stop Me Now. Or even better, just disappear |

You get a royalty as the writer, but you can't stop them. I think Brian has stated that it's only if someone twisted lyrics or something in a bad way he'd take action. personally, I don't have a problem with 5ive or McFly or Robbie Williams. I'm really quite glad that they consider the songs worthy of covering. Whether I think the result is good or not is secondary really. It just someone else re-inventing and re-interpreting the music. QueenZoners also do it here loads. Are those who post their versions not allowed? |

Here's part of it - link (Am I allowed to post this?) It's all very unimaginitive. My problem with it is that Mcfly appeal mostly to girls aged around 13, and girls around 13 don't think much. They'll be singing Mcflys 'Don't Stop Me Now' having no idea who originally penned the song. I guess you could argue that it's bringing Queen to another generation, but if it takes a band like Mcfly to do that then, I wouldn't bother. (Incidentally their lead singer sounds like an English Cartman (as in Southpark) with a lisp.) |

you know what? i like that cover...i think its good. i also think that mcfly are a good band. however it was that said why can't they write their own tunes...they do, try researching before you accuse. they actually reminded me of the beach boys (shock horror!!) with that song 'its all about you', and lets think about this...its only in the last few yeears that its been unacceptable to be a boyband...the beatles and the who started out as a boyband for gods sake. |

So, you're probably basing that on the fact that they were young boys who were in bands, right? I'm sorry, but the talent that came from The Beatles in the early days far outweighs anything McFly have and/or will ever come up with. Peace, Adam. |

I was just a bit annoyed when I heard this on the BBC the other day....then I heard the guitar solo, and I was livid - I mean, Im a shocking guitarist, and soloing is far from my strongpoint, but give me two weeks and I'll give you a version of the solo that sounds better than this! (If I had time) lol. It actually sounds like it was recorded by a chimp. Outrageous! |

Boy Thomas Raker 28.06.2006 15:57 |
At the start of their career, The Beatles did a lot of covers, but played and wrote there own stuff, which was definitely aimed at the female market early on. They weren't a boy band, but understand with the screaming and adulation where people who call them a boy band are coming from. On the other hand, The Who were a lot harder, and two of their first four singles, My Generation and Substitute are as far as one could get from boy band content, in lyrical content and musical agression. |
john bodega 29.06.2006 00:37 |
The boy band thing is only slightly true, I think. The Beatles, I think, *triggered off* a wave of boybands. But they themselves, while fitting in with the boy-band image of the time, and having a similarly radio-friendly sound; they had the sense to write their own tunes which got gradually more complex. And they had a genius producer (which with other boy-bands is the only thing keeping them listenable - barely) who augmented their kickarse song ideas. As for the Who... I'll have to disagree with Roger here. Like the Beatles they did start simpler, and even though Pete Townshend once said "steer clear of quality and you're alright" I happen to think that they also wound up getting better and better as far as songwriting goes. There were shitloads of boybands in the 60's. The Beatles and The Who may have seemed like two of them at the start, but really, they weren't. They just shared the image of a boyband, the marketing, and the sound of the music of the day (which went out the window with Tomorrow Never Knows :P). |
i'm going slight mad... 30.06.2006 08:34 |
thankyou, you two the reason i was comparing them was because they are all groups of young boys, playing instruments and writing tunes, appealing to a young teenage girl fanbase. i think you got that. |
