The BBC has finally (thankfully) pulled the plug on Top Of The Pops. Pretty sad personally because its a show that Ive grown up with but obviously the right decision.
Personally it started getting a bit pants in the mid 90's and TOTP2 was a miles better show! I have some great memories, every Thursday, 7pm BBC1, from throughout the 80's and 90's. In the right hands, this show could have still been THE flagship. Just a shame that its been CRAP for the last few years.
RIP.
Very sad, I hope they replace it with something more along the lines of 'Later with Jools Holland'
Something that 'live' bands can be seen other than just in videos on MTV.

That would be great except for the fact that MTV doesn't play videos.
All MTV plays is a bunch of shit shows with teenagers whinning about how sad and miserable their lives are.

I used to watch it all the time when I was little, but as I got older I never watched it anymore. It really did become crap in its last years.
Although I wasn't around in the 60s, 70s or 80s when the show was at its best, I still enjoy watching TOTP2 and getting to see the acts from those decades on the show. And of course there are a couple of the Queen appearances on the GVH DVDs (eg Killer Queen). Gone are the days when you had good acts on it. Just as well they pulled it when it was at its worst.

True, I forgot that, I don't watch it myself for just that reason

Does anyone think it's worth being released as DVDs like the famous American show named "Ed Sullivan Show" from which DVDs ( I don't remember how many) have been released recently?
