On a Japanese website I have found a tracklist for the forthcoming Very best of Freddie Mercury album. 1. In my defence 2. The great pretender 3. Living on my own (1993 version) 4. Made in heaven 5. Love kills 6. There must be more to life than this 7. Guide me home 8. How can I go on 9. Foolin' around 10. Time 11. Barcelona 12. Love me like there's no tomorrow 13. I was born to love you 14. The golden boy 15. Mr. bad guy 16. The great pretender (Malouf mix) 17. I can hear music 18. Goin' back 19. Guide me home (piano version) I have absolutely no idea if this is the "real" tracklist. The releasedate for Japan is August 30. The labelnumber is TOCP-70058. source: link |

I'm glad to see a compilation album containing "Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow" and the first real song of 'I Was Born To Love You'... if only it was a US release!!! Even Made In Heaven! Remember folks, the only way to get those songs now is on bootleg or the box set. Not good for a fan of just beginning. |

I believe I heard somewhere that there is also going to be a DVD. As far as I know only 9 of these tracks currently have videos. Could be interesting if it follows the same listing. Or maybe they will just be 10 DoRo compilations... |

another greatest hits nr so much compilation-wannabee with absolutely nothing new, to give the older (and complete) fans a reason to want to buy this album...they could at least have added 1 song that makes this rip-off nr so much worthwhile having....no reward for loyalty...that's how i feel when reading this tracklist...an unknown bonustrack wouldn't be much more than logic, and i think we've deserved something like that by now...haven't we? And no artwork, can camouflage this sucks....IF this is the list... i would want an official release with studio quality time rehearsals, michael jackson, Jo Dare and Freddie outtakes, try outs and things like that, and some beautyful live recordings that weren't in the "complete"??? box set.... |
bas asselbergs 21.06.2006 18:50 |
NOT to forget the video of Freddie with Elton John on his 40th birthday, when he did 3 songs on stage with Elton.....THAT would be fab to see after all these years.....THAT would be a lovely 60th birthday, and 15th year memorial release I would want to have.... |

Jan78 22.06.2006 00:07 |
This is really typical. Either you go "yawn", another bloody compilation, what a rip-off, we want more outtakes and stuff. Or you go like, what this and this song is not on there, what a bad compilation! Nobody says you have to buy it. A compilation or best-of-record is not for the fans who know it all already. It's something for the unknown John Doe next door who likes Freddie or Queen and thinks that this is something nice to have or to give to his mum who likes Queen or Freddie. And that's all about it. I have the boxset from 2000, I won't buy this. But somebody will buy this CD and somebody will even enjoy it. Lucky dudes, guess how you all would moan if this was a John Lennon forum and ANOTHER best of would be released. It is sort of new, it will probably enter the charts, people will notice that a FM best of was released, then they remember how much they liked the music and go and buy it. And that's great, if more people get to enjoy Queen or solo stuff. So bottom line is, I'm actually happy that this record will be released, but I will not buy it. Stop moaning, kids! Jan |
beautifulsoup 22.06.2006 00:38 |
I was not moaning. I was merely wondering. It will make no difference to meas to whether I purchase it or not. I will still purchase it. Thank you very much. |
Saint Jiub 22.06.2006 00:59 |
There is good reason to moan. As I recall, Queen Productions has released only one previously unreleased, predominantly archive item (Milton Keynes) in the past 5 years. |
Jan78 22.06.2006 03:22 |
I still think the Freddie box was an exquisit item (well, I could live without all those made up versions, like vocals only or instrumentals). And yes, I would love to have such a thing from Queen. And yes, I agree with people saying that QP haven't done much to maintain Queen's fame in the last 10 years. But don't you agree as well when I say that QP can mainly release whatever and people here moan? Imagine a box covering 1988-1989. I'm sure you'll get posts here saying "oh, I have A New Life Is Born already, and I Guess We're Falling Out, why couldn't they release something better." I just want to remind us, that there are lots of fans out there who have never ever heard of a song called My Secret Fantasy, and lots of them might not even care. They would love to go to concerts and they have the Platinum Collection. They don't know the names of Brian's childhood friends or when I Wanna Testify was released. Those people buy and enjoy the Best of Freddie CD. The release of Milton Keynes was a great thing to do. And yet people moan because they don't get Houston 77 or Earl's Court, while they in fact already have it downloaded somewhere. What I'm saying is, some people never stop moaning and exceptionally many of them post here. Jan |

Freddie Mercury's birthday or not I want B-Sides. Period.Did you tell Brian when you met him? Or were you just too busy perving at someone who could be your grandpa, little 15 year old Queen-maniac. But well, talk to your parents, they might have heard of a band called The Rolling Stones. Ask them about a certain song called "You can't always get what you want". |

Ask them about a certain song called "You can't always get what you want". Brian would probably give me a simple answer like "We are still thinking about it" "Maybe, you never know" Shit like that, why don't you go and ask him? Ha...funny. The reason I ask for b-sides is because not many people can find them and all this crap about re-releasing Freddie's songs or Queen's even is a waste of money. Take "Stone Cold Classics" What a load of shit. I have all of those songs, why buy that album anyway? We want something NEW. When I say WE I know alot of people who agree with me on this one. |

I think that this will be a great idea! Queen need the public's attention over the next five years for TONS of new releases. "The Great Pretender" and "The Freddie Mercury Album" can still exist as they serve as compilations with hits and remixes of hits whereas "Singer of Songs, Lover Of Life: The Best Of Freddie Mercury" can serve as the "definitive single disc best of" with the original versions of these tracks at this time. I think this is going to work VERY well as from the track listing it will be FOURTEEN "best of's" plus FIVE tracks that have NEVER been on a single disc release before. That is REALLY cool folks! I can't wait! ROOCK AND ROOOOLLLL!!!! I just hope that this gets released and promoted here in the U.S. of A.!!! Wow! We have this PLUS the Queen box set "The Full Works" comming out this year! I REALLY hope that that gets released in the U.S. of A. too even though a few years ago Hollywood Records said that they would not release the Queen box sets but perhaps three c.d. sets of them. That would SUCK hardcore for sure. "The Full Works" is going to need a ton of promotion as well!!! Especially in the U.S.!!!! |

There's nothing new about those b-sides. They're widely circulated, widely available, and have been released for years and years and years. THey may be new to you but they're far from new. I'd dare say most fans have made their own b-sides compilation ages ago. |
