It's 30 years today since Queen performed 2 shows at Kosei Nenkin Kaikan in Osaka, Japan as part of the A Night At The Opera World Tour...and for those of us here that have a bootleg of either (evening in my case), I thought it would be interesting to hear people's opinions.
I have the Evening show, and believe Queen were in top form that night...great performance of The Prophet's Song and also a rare airing of Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon that too. Freddie improvises part of Bo Rhap in the medley ("I don't wanna die" instead of "didn't mean to make you cry" in the 1st verse) but that does not ditract away from a great show....I'd rate this as being somewhere in my top 15 favourites.
How would the rest of you rate either of these shows?
That's mad because i've just been playing that gig and i totally agree with you what a fantastic concert, everyone on top form and sounding perfect.
I don't know why but japan gigs seem to bring the best out of queen performance and soundwise but i couldn't tell which one was the best, probably the evening one if i had to pick.
I have the afternoon show. Well, I like it. I'm not sure it's ranked in my top 15 favorites( as you said so), though. But I prefer the show of 31.03.1976 Tokyo(Budokan)and I think it's better than Osaka shows. Freddie's voice condition sounds better and he seems to sing feeling more relaxed with higher energy, talks more and the set list is better ( because of SSOR, Big Spender, SWAFIB...).
